Instead he wears you down and irks you by making it extremely hard for you to get the win. He's gone from worse to a draw multiple times, and sometimes even ends up winning just by being extremely stubborn and not resigning at the earliest signs of defeat. Naka's the type of player that hates losing more than he likes winning. Bet we could all relate lil bit haha.

Ironically, Magnus is an undisputed genuis, he calculates very quickly, he's very resiliant in the rare situations in which he is on the back foot and his play style is all about finesse rather than blowing up the board. However, because he mostly wins by getting a small advantage in the middle game and then grinding people down in a long, technical endgame, he's not exactly the most entertaining player.
Think about it, if I just ran up to you and said "dude, I just saw this amazingly entertaining game played by a top GM!", your mind would probably jump to Dubov, or Giri, maybe Nakamura, but definitely not Magnus. On the other hand, if I ran up to you and said, "dude, look at this, Magnus just won a pretty amazing game!", you wouldn't think "oh? this should be entertaining", you would probably think "fiiiiine, let's stare at Stockfish lines for the next 3 hours and pretend like we have any clue what's going on."

"if you give Magnus an artistic choice he will go for it" some commentator, who's name escapes me. I saw a lot of very exciting games from Magnus. exspecially the one where this quote comes from against maybe Giri where Magnus trades a Queen for 3 minor pieces and wins. Also a lot of his online games against Super GMs are very entertaining. So I understand where he's coming from. I would also agree on Dubov obviously, but not on Giri. This guy draws more then Bob Ross ever has.

Just saying ....but it was nice. But you could have analyzed ONE MOVE DEEPER.
Regarding entertaining, it's hard to tell. Certainly Magnus one of them . ( Dubov is too ). You saw Magnus as a 'grinder machine ' because he happens to win ' drawn games' . Winning games he always wins but he , in addition, wins games which other best players will agree as a draw.
Magnus has no less beautiful masterpieces.
Regarding calculation, he calculates pretty quickly but not quickest I guess. So he opted Firouja.
Regarding his genious and fineness I agree with you completely. Also I too consider Magnus as a very tough nut to crack.

I can see why Nakamura would be the most annoying for Carlsen because chess has two totally different way of solving. Carlsen said that he can see possible moves instantly and best moves correctly in 90%+ of cases but have to break down the moves to check it, and that’s what consumes his time. While Nakamura seemed to be the opposite, he blurted out details of the moves and see that it’s okay tactically while others that sees it otb for them it seemed like an ugly moves and don’t know why Naka would play that.
When you see Carlsen’s blunder esp in blitz it was tactical blunder that even lower level chess players would notice. The answer is perhaps he didn’t even bother to calculate the moves and it looked good to him. So for him seeing Naka moves he must have kept thinking,” what an ugly moves, it must be better for me somewhere down the line.” Then if the game ended up in draw it must have been frustrating.
