  • The new KGM Torres EVX is an all-electric SUV with a price and range that's almost identical to the Tesla Model Y - but will buyers choose this over the incredibly popular American brand?
    The Torres EVX is a 5-seater with loads of space, decent performance and more gadgetry than a spacecraft, but there's only one problem: hardly anyone in New Zealand knows who KGM is!
    (spoiler: it's SsangYong)
    And if you're keen on cutting your carbon footprint, come and join us at Ecotricity, which is now New Zealand's only climate positive electricity provider! That means by switching today, you're actually turning back the clock on Climate Change, while saving money in the process.
    Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it's not! Ecotricity is real, with really affordable electricity, thanks to it being purely renewable.
    Head to www.ecotricity.co.nz and chuck in your address to see how much money & carbon you can save right now. It's that easy and it makes a real, positive difference for the next generation.

      One might want to consider ssangyong changed owners 5 times in the last 2 decades, 1998, 2006, 2009, 2015, 2022, and twice went into receivership in 2009 and 2020.

    No wireless carplay at this point is just insane. I've had carplay in my cars since 2017. 7 years later, looking for another car, and its 1 of the must have features. Getting away with a wired to wireless adapter at the moment, and it has a few bugs or delays connecting. But its great just hopping in my car for a 10min drive and still having all the tech available. This car just went straight from being unknown to being a consideration to not at all within 5mins of watching this.

    Palmerston North has a 100% electric urban bus fleet. First city in Aotearoa. This makes Palmerston North hands down the best city in the country. I'm sure you'll agree.

    another great video. I actually bought a Ssangyong/KGM Korando eMotion partly based on your video. That also is a great car even though it doesn't have decent range and charging speed. But like everything else on a car, that's subject to one's needs. I hardly ever do larger distances, I always charge it at home on a 'normal' power socket (and I have a surplus of electricity with my solar panels), so although they're bad selling points for people who claim to drive hundreds of kilometers on a daily basis (which not too many do in the real world if they're honest), it fills my needs perfectly. I know people that say they'll never buy an EV as the range sucks, while they drive less than 20km on a daily basis and put their car in the garage every day. And if you point that out, they just argue "you can't go on holidays with it", while they NEVER do that with their ICE car either. What's more, if by chance you do need to drive further, isn't it a PLUS to take a few more breaks if you're not used to driving long distances? Maybe not timewise, but I for instance rather get my children to the destination SAFELY instead of quickly. Another plus (personally) is the more traditional interior with actual BUTTONS to push... LOVE it!!

      Just drove one today in a KGM dealership: there is no remote connectivity. In fact, there is no real-time connectivity at all. Software updates happen during maintenance in the garage. Love it or not. It's more like a traditional car but at least it cannot be hacked remotely while you're driving on the highway. All depends on your priorities

  • @ChromeFlakes
    @ChromeFlakes Před 2 měsíci

    What about servicing? I’d always choose a Tesla over any other brand as servicing is just a nasty hangover from our oil burning past. You don’t ‘service’ any other machines with a battery/motor and we have road worthy certification to ensure cars are safe for the road, so it is not needed & I would resent paying for it.

    • @eldridgep2
      @eldridgep2 Před 2 měsíci

      True but I don't drive my drill to work at 80mph so I'm not so keen to give up on servicing just yet. Depends on the cost though.

    • @TerryHickey-xt4mf
      @TerryHickey-xt4mf Před 2 měsíci

      @@eldridgep2 and if you did drive your drill to work you would get a speeding ticket, as our speed limit is 100 or 110 KM/H on motorways and main roads. A lot of European tourists get caught out with our lower speed limits, especially Germans.

    • @ChromeFlakes
      @ChromeFlakes Před 2 měsíci

      @@eldridgep2 😂 I would like to see someone ride a drill to work, you might need a few batteries to snap on throughout the journey. Seriously though, what is to service? The loud, stinky, hot, oily bit is gone. Front brake pads are lasting 720k; suspension and bushes? Cabin filters & wiper blades are all possible with a can-do attitude and a CZcams video.

    • @eldridgep2
      @eldridgep2 Před 2 měsíci

      @@TerryHickey-xt4mf Possibly but I'd probably live to get the ticket.

    • @eldridgep2
      @eldridgep2 Před 2 měsíci

      @@ChromeFlakesI honestly don't know mate I just like the reassurance that someone who knows what they are doing has checked it. Wiring degrading, contacts corroding, software updates, known manufacturing issues that don't require a full recall etc.
      I work in IT I see electrical and electronic things fail from time to time. I'm just saying I'm glad it doesn't happen whilst I'm in it and moving at speed. If while I'm there they hoover it, change the windscreen wash and top up the air con all the better 😉
      In the UK a MOT (roadworthiness) and the things covered in a service are different I agree it should be simpler and quicker as not so many moving parts etc. but I'm sure EV's are probably better checked over once in a while and different makes/models will have different faults a MOT wouldn't cover. Services aren't a legal requirement though so each to their own.
