There were only Jewish kingdoms of Israel and Judah during the First Temple era, the Jewish kingdom at some point in time after Alexander the Great's empire fell and split but before the Romans took over (in the Second Temple era), and later the Christian Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. Arabs/Muslims always ruled the land from somewhere else preferring Damascus, Cairo or Istanbul.

Does anyone know when the voiceover was added? Was it added immediately in 1917 when the film was taken, or was it a later addition?
A very relevant and interesting question. As far as I know there was no sound in films until the late '20s. Being so, the voiceover may have been added later, for the documentary to be aired in cinemas, for instance. This means that the comments are a bit retrospective in relation to the moment the images were taken.
You can tell by the voice over, it was done by an English man, just like all the Pathe news reels did.
They couldn't show just the pictures, because they obviously wouldn't have known what the film was about.

Just to correct you on one thing: officially, the Ottoman empire wasn't abolished until 3 March 1924. The British set foot in Palestine in 11 December 1917. That's more than 6 years that lapsed before the Ottoman empire vanished. In a span of 30 years, the Britain managed to unravel more than 400 years of relative peace and calm.
Palestine was very peaceful when the Ottoman Islamic Empire ruled the world, Palestinian freedom 🇵🇸🇵🇸🥰🥰

A very interesting film thanks for posting. Especially the Indian soldiers some of whom were sSikhs and Hindus perhaps with Turkish and German prisoners of war. Egyptian soldiers in the British Army and soldiers of the great south land, Australians marching into Jerusalem.

@@quiasnoorzad Sikhs were brave good soldiers still are. It is Guru Nanak who is the centre for Sikhs, not the Indian state or the state in whose army they serve. When I travelled the Grand Trunk Road across Indian in the late 1970’s I noted that the Sikhs were the soldiers in the Army, Police Officers on the street and if not in these 2 occupations the truck drivers that the drove the road. The Sikh Police Officers were tall smartly dressed and appeared efficient and organised compared with most of the people on the streets. Likewise with the soldiers and truck drivers. This might have changed now as decades have passed and times moved on. Even so the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army is the most decorated and respected of regiments.
