Dude, it's a dramatisation. Do you genuinely believe that they had digitally rendered time code in the 80s? Go look at credits for a movie from the 80s and see the contrast of crispness this and every other contemporary digitally rendered numbers and text has in comparison.
@@Nothinglastsforever rarehistoricalphotos.com/chernobyl-disaster-pictures-1986/ looks to match the actual photos of the roof cleanup perfectly, even down to background objects like the cranes and the large red duct thing.

They are indeed brave comrades who took lifetime dosage of radiation in 90 seconds for a noble cause bravo 👏👏👏 and HBO GOT THIS PART ON POINT

"that is how an RBMK reactor core explodes, LIES!".
Best line of the series!

Imagine the sheer amount of discarded contaminated equipment for thousands of workers who only spent 2 minutes cleaning that roof

If there is a reason why the video quality was very top-notch for the analog era, that would be Betamax tapes and Betacam cameras. The best analog camera and video formats ever for the media industry.
>Betamax cameras
>in the Soviet Union
Comrade, you are delusional. Go to the infirmary.
I still cant find out if this video is real or not
@@Fabio-Galante If the video is real, the reason might be bcz only reporters and cameramen of Soviet TV stations had the privilege of using better video cameras made by Sony Corporation (Soviet TV stations weren't the most cheapskate media organizations in the Eastern Bloc, bcz the central govt were still able to import professional-grade Betacam stuffs). The rest of the population had to settle down with the not-so-good but much more popular VHS tapes and camcorders.
@@Fabio-Galante Also, thanks to prevalent censorships during the Soviet era, Soviet news footages of Chernobyl didn't get much airwaves and could have been stored for years to avoid revealing the actual realities of the tragedy in days, weeks and months after the plant explosion occurred.
@@izzatfauzimustafa6535 yeah , a lot of reasonable facts , but what about radiation ? Cam should've died in first 30 seconds according to radiation levels
These people are the real MVPs of the cleanup/containment efforts. Id like to say they single handedly saved the world from further destruction.
Thank you...
Radiation level is so high for moon rovers they can not handle with that. But it seems to be that camera doesn't care.
Film vs digital is my guess.
film only gets exposed (the white "snow" in the pics) while the robots would have been running digitally.
Ionizing radiation knocks 1's and 0's around. switching them randomly screws up the coding.
* Just a thought/guess *
I think the officer of this squad visited our school in germany some years ago. He was the only one alive i think and he told us about what they did exaxtly etc. I hope hes fine couse whe met him with a lot of respect and togeter we planted a small tree in dedication for Chernobyl in our schoolyard. Im proud to have a pic take with us shaking hand. Great man and a great Hero.
The guy who nearly fell over at 0:39 must have shit himself
What really is scary is the fact that a normal task of shovelling was so deadly even for 90 seconds on that roof on that day.
Camera quality in 1990s: *Great*
Camera quality nowadays: *Terrible*
Dyatlov: *Not great, not terrible.*
Thanos: *perfectly balanced*
Tony Stark You're all delusional! Take them to the infirmary.
Not true! This is real film (probably super 16mm) and more comparable to a cinema camera (rather than a consumer video cam). Cinema Cameras today make much better images than this footgae (just look at Arri, Red or the Blackmagic Cameras...)!
Popaje pokaži mu propeler zviz somebody’s mad
Wtf? So this was a real scene and it was captured in camera, Wow 👏👏👏
@deenman23 Do you have any proof of that?
deenman23 I really hope that it is just a joke
@deenman23 You've somehow managed to seem even more delusional than your previous reply, lol
@deenman23 Also: the show dramatized the death of the robot. It could withstand the radiation for a while and even managed to removed some debris from the roof, only for it to get stuck and die from prolonged radiation exposure.
And because I'm a dick, you misspelled "you're"
@deenman23 I already did, dipshit
This is unreal. Amazing footage

same. but shit happens. we only learn from our mistakes.
@@MegaCyklops I am not saying it was a wrong decision to send people up to clear the roof. I wasn't there. I think they did the clean up job very professionally.
As a nuclear engineer, who I assume is here after watching the HBO miniseries, why were you not immediately incredulous to the authenticity of the video upon seeing perfect digitally rendered time-code? You could infer that it was added in later, I guess. It still wouldn't explain the perfectly captured audio from what sounds like a boom microphone.
@@Nothinglastsforever i bet you are also a flat earther
@@LegitoTV I'm a student of astronomy, actually. So, no, I'm not a flat earther. Furthermore, unlike flat eathers, I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong and in this instance I was very wrong. That ambient crackling in background of the microphone, a subtle hint at just how hot that site was. Yikes.

It was actually between 500 and 1000...show runners came up with their own crazy number just to shock us...
McPrezy Just curious, where did you find out about that?
@@bencarter6001 Ive seen a screenshot of it from official documentation and it said 500-1000 on that highest roof closest to core.
200-500 on others.
Thank you Heroes.
I will never question the bravery of Slavs.
When I was watching the HBO series, I was wondering why they didn't start the cleanup from the edge of the roof so they wouldn't trip all over the rubble trying to clean up the debris in the middle of the roof. Still wondering that now after seeing this.
Clutch same here, also wonder about this. Maybe the radiation from the core was higher on the edge and they wanted to wait for this part to let the radiation decrease a bit more
If this was filmed in 2019 the camera man would be like "what's up guys, we are here at chernobyl sick dope dude brah homies cleaning shit bro" and filming his own face all the time.
The miniseries did such an incredible job recreating this scene.
