    This story is so crazy, how couldn’t the doctors find out that it’s because of the birth control? A friend of mine told me that she was in a similar situation. She had a spiral contraception, I hope it’s the right translation in English🙈, and it made her really depressive. She didn’t know that it was because of that and lived years with it until her gynaecologist said to her that these depressions could be because of it…until it was removed from her she feels so much better. Me as man can’t believe that something like that is even allowed in medicine and I’m shocked that so many doctors don’t seem to know enough about it.

      It happens all the time, it happened to me with depo provera I had all the same symptoms as lib. It has made me so against hormonal birth control and the worst thing is a lot of doctors ENCOURAGE you to go on it so they can get feedback on it! They still don’t know what they’re doing with it and treating women like Guinea pigs! Its not right, I’m ok now but my body still hasn’t truly recovered from it

      Trust me, they know. But docs are trained to help clients accept birth control rather than go against it. That's y we always tell clients to choose for them. Literature will all say ts not the birth control.
      Unless the doc thinks from their own perspective rather than going by the books, ull always get same answer

    I was /am really low low depressed and watching you helps , I don't really have any friends or anyone to go to in my time of need to vent or support and things like this are vital ,there's many suffering who I'm sure it has to do with this and they're gonna see it and have a chance at help because you posted it. I should have done this,I thought about making a video but never did cause my lack of confidence,so I barely post on my channel but I want to u to know ,despite many of the haters and those who ever say bad stuff, which many say good things to u but for the bad things, cruel comments about your body or anyone making a prejudice judgment such as assuming you're stupid when ur not, and I bet you made them feel regret if they see you using your intelligence like this, ur proving them wrong, all the haters Libby, and you are so worth being loved and I'm glad hunter stayed and that he didn't listen to u that time when u said for him to leave you while you were suffering for so long. You are making a big difference,both are. Please keep putting up the inspiring videos and funny videos and sharing your life. When is your birthday? Hey guys I am glad it worked out in the end. My suggestion would be for Libby to check hormone levels every 4-6 months. Especially S-TSH, S-T4 and T3, testosterone, progesterone, estradiol, S-FSH and DHEA-S. With this test you will stop guessing and see if your body is getting better at producing hormones, what levels of them is normal and how is your Thyroid gland working. The test results may come in handy when you will be much older as well. I do not know how much the test cost in the States, where I live it is around 130€, and it is painless, they just draw some blood in the morning, before you eat anything. It is a sort of immunology test. In general, blood samples are best taken in the 'first half' of the cycle the follicular phase.

    Thank you for sharing!! I've heard very similar stories from people on the pill but i honestly didn't know the IUD could cause similar things. I got off the pill a year and a half ago and I'm so happy I did. My side effects from it weren't nearly as bad as yours, but they were similar (just not as extreme as yours). Man, young women should be aware of all of this before deciding to go on it in the first place.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. I think it’s important that people understand the potential side effects of any type of birth control/medication they are putting in their body.
    You mentioned you tested positive for Lyme’s disease. A lot of the symptoms you described (extreme fatigue, nauseousness, etc) fall in line that, which you very briefly mentioned. I understand the iud seemed to also effect you. I think it’s important that your viewers keep this in mind- that there are 2 things in play here. Positive Lyme’s disease test AND side effects from the (I assume hormonal) IUD.
    Maybe I missed this- but your viewers should also know that there are 2 types of IUD’s- hormonal and not hormonal (copper). Both CAN have various side effects.
    I love that you shared your story. I’m also concerned for younger viewers who might be scared off of trying the various IUD types, when it is very possible that one of them MIGHT work for them.
    When I was younger I did not use any birth control but after having my third child, I have the Mirena IUD (hormonal) and overall it works good for me with some minimal side effects that are tolerable for me. I’ve had for 7 years. (It’s now approved for 8 years in the US).
    I agree that if medication you take or put in your body, makes you feel awful, to the point the side effects outweigh any positive effects you are getting from the medication, then consider stopping the medication. I also think viewers should be informed of various types and side effects of birth control medications/products. They seem to affect people differently and IUD’s can work for many people.

    Thanks for the info on birth control meds and for sharing your personal experience with being on them. MDs are so hamstrung by big pharma/medical corporations. Some doctors want to tell you how to do the right thing(s) for optimal health but can't for fear of losing their license/career. Like you two said...do your research. We have to take responsibility for our own health...almost like being our own physicians.

    I had quite a bc journey too 😢. I started it when I was probably around 15 maybe due to outrageously painful periods. I would miss school every single month. I just remember being on vacation with my family and literally rolling on the floor crying until I eventually fell asleep on the floor because the pain was so unbearable. I was on one type of pill bc for years. (About 4 years) and it “helped” but things quickly got bad again. It was such a roller coaster of “things are going so well I had a period of only a couple days and it was light and everything is great” to “why am I even taking this it’s doing nothing and I’m in agony all over again” then I looked into longer lasting birth control and landed on nexplanon (arm implant) best decision of my life. Granted my periods are a little longer now BUT they are significantly lighter and the pain is nonexistent when I take Motrin or Tylenol on the bad days. I first got the nexplanon 4 years ago. Last year I got it removed and replaced. (It lasts 3 years but you can get it removed at any time and depending on where you are in your cycle when you get it removed you can get pregnant very quickly.) The initial procedure was the “worst” in that I was super bruised in that area of my arm and I honestly had sensitivity over that area for probably a year or maybe a little longer. After that I was golden. Even getting it removed and then replaced it was easy peasy. Barely any bruising and once the site healed (about 10 days) I had little to no pain. Very quickly that completely faded and I’ve been pain free for MONTHS now. My periods are so manageable now. I’ve been so blessed to have found such good OBGYNs and it makes all the difference. ❤ never be afraid to get a second or third or fourth etc doctors opinion! Thank you for sharing your experience! Stories like this need to be told bc we NEED to realize that these absurd side effects should NOT be normal…medicine is so advanced now a days. There’s no reason why so many bc users should be suffering like we are.

    • @katybauer6287
      @katybauer6287 Před rokem +1

      I should note just like with any treatment or birth control there CAN be side effects. So if you’re looking into nexplanon look up the side effects on the official website. Not based on personal experience. The side effects on the website are proven to be directly related to it. Anecdotal (based solely on personal experience) side effects may or may not be related to nexplanon. It’s not for everyone but it definitely has been a fantastic option for me ❤

  • @lawsoncabell
    @lawsoncabell Před 6 měsíci

    I had a similar experience after being on the pill for several years (long ago). I was having severe migraines several times a month and like Libby, no doctor ever considered the possibility that the birth control was the problem. I did not have a period for about 3 years and my hair started falling out. The depression is definitely real. Once I stopped taking the pill, the headaches were gone, the periods came back and my body did finally recover. That doctors prescribe these things so readily- and tell you that they are completely safe- caused me to see the medical profession differently. I worry about young girls starting the pill or other birth control which suppresses the monthly cycle so early in life. There is always risk- every time we take something or do anything which interferes with regular biological functions.

    I’d read one of you is from Wisconsin, small world I am also. You’re channel came up under shorts, and checked few out because my gf and I share same love/bond. Also she’s from Ohio, made few road trips through Indiana on the way there and back.
    Wanted to share what happened to my first marriage. My ex wife started taking birth control pills the month before we got married. By the end of our first year it had changed her want and enjoyment for sex. It was day to night for her a 180 in her personality also. I kept asking what I’d done wrong? Then she stopped helping with any of the housework and cooking. By this time I was struggling with an issue myself with an addiction to painkillers. Early in life had accident that damaged lower L2 and 3 disc of the spine. By my teens another accident that broke my tailbone and shifted lower back even more causing slow building nerve damage. By 22 I was in pain 24/7 and was losing use right leg. We’d divorced in only 2 and half years of marriage. Also we were very young, and we had a lot against us. I take my responsibility that I was a mess and not able to help and when she didn’t want to do anything it didn’t get done. It all boiled over and ended.
    It was for the best. Got into rehab and after that went through two years of therapy. Because I was diagnosed with early stage 2 reflex sympathetic dystrophy during my stay in rehab. It’s been 21 years since the divorce and been clean 19 years. Went on to have more relationships as I got older, lovers and friends. I’d heard about what other women went through, and it was shocking how it works for many well, and it was a living nightmare for couple friends and women I’d been with through life.
    My girlfriend and I celebrate ten years next May. She’d shared other stories of what her friends had dealt with in life and relationships. She never wanted to go on any because she cherishes not only our intimacy, also didn’t want it to change anything about her mood, energy level, and enjoyments.
    Thank you for sharing your story, because it’s not easy to talk with all of our friends about everything we are dealing with medically and within our relationships. This is going to help others be it five to thousands.

    I hate that when you had it removed you were basically shamed by the doctor. Doctors should never do that to their patients! When I went in for my c-section to have my 4th baby, the doctor shamed me for not allowing him to "tie my tubes" while he was in there. He stated that it was a huge mistake i was making because my body couldn't handle another pregnancy and that if I didn't let him do it then he would see me back in his office pregnant again within a year. He wasn't even my doctor, was just the one on call for that day, and my body did fine with my last pregnancy that wasn't until almost 4 years later. They may have the degrees, but that doesn't always mean they know what's best for our bodies. Always trust yourself, and advocate for what you feel is best for you, regardless of what the doctor may personally think. We go to them for professional advice not personal opinions.

    That's what happens when you interfere in the natural order. And at 26 years old, think about having children right away after the wedding. Me and the wife waited because we wanted to have a house ready, and in her late thirties, pregnancy almost killed her. Do it while you're young.

    I need to add a follow up comment at 22.21 I had a friend in HS who had such heavy flow periods she had to get an IUD to keep her alive. She would literally have to be rushed to the hospital for a transfusion every other month in Grade School, not good. These aren't for everyone but they can save your life and make it way easier, if they are right for you.

      She needed emergency blood transfusions when she was in grade school?
      To have problems related to her period at such a young age would be very unusual.
      Do you know if she had any other kind of blood / bleeding disorder?

    Idk, if I'm feeling sick I don't need a doctor to tell me I'm not sick. I think a lot of ppl are a little too dependant on doctors to tell them this and that, we forget simple things like WE are the ones in our bodies, WE are experiencing something someone else can not feel at the moment. My ex was like that, it was super annoying like she couldn't think for herself. She needed someone else, a DOCTOR, to tell her the simplest shit. It got so ridiculous that she would need to go to a doctor for a paper cut (exaggerating a little here but you get the point).

So glad you're doing better after that difficult experience Libby ❤ For anyone who's interested in an alternative to birth control I use a fertility tracking computer called Lady-Comp. Registered nurse here....Ive been an RN for over 30 years....You are correct doctors do not know everything. But it's much bigger than that. Doctors are no longer independent practitioners any longer.. they're owned by big business, specifically, the pharmaceutical companies. They're Medical "opinions" are based on research papers and studies that are supposed to be independent but if you do more digging you will find those studies are backed by big pharmaceutical Industries in one way or the other... So, the doctors believe what they say is true, but the "Fountain of Knowledge" is poisoned. I'm sorry you went through that Lib, you and millions of Other Woman have experienced the exact same thing, and it's disheartening that your Ob-Gyn did not hear or support your decision to remove the mirena/ skyla /Liletta.. or whatever hormonal IUD you had in..
    Glad to hear you are feeling back to yourself! 🙂

    Birth control is a horrible, unnatural thing, and it makes me sad to think you had to go through this to find that out. Consider just withdrawing or using rhythm. Seriously. If something happens and you do get pregnant, think what a wonderful thing that really is, after all. I think the best thing your mother ever did was to get pregnant by "mistake" at 18, because that's how you came into this world, and you are a super special person, Libby. Children are a blessing. They are your immortality. They are the most important thing you will ever do. I really hope this has not harmed your fertility so the two of you can have many, many kids. And you really should have as many as you can because, sadly, far too many good people are not having any kids at all.

    Maybe just being in a committed relationship was stressful to you? Its a very big change from independent free young girl with everything in front of you, to committed loyal girlfriend to one partner, shutting the door to all the other potential partners out there. The discomfort of the IUD just kind of symbolized the containment, and being restricted to your partner. Maybe a couple therapy sessions might benefit you? Or just ease into your relationship, make the transition from total freedom to committed relationship a little more gradual. Don't be in such a hurry to commit yourself to someone else. You might not be ready for it yet.
