Rang de basanti... It's one of the greatest movies ever produced in Bollywood... And direction , cinematography, story ,acting performances , music everything is top notch .. it's not only a strong thought provoking movie but also it taught a whole generation importance of asking right question... How they took the struggles and sacrifices of Indian revolutionaries during the British rule and connected them with our modern day situations and struggles is a amzing work ... It's a must watch movie ...and the music by AR Rahman ji is just gives it a heavenly touch .. I have never skipped any song of this album whenever it is being played on any instrument I am listening .. not even a single time .. watch it and you will know how every single song becomes a soul of situation being presented in movie ...

Deewani Mastani from Bajirao Mastani is a DIRECT homage to "Jab Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya" from Mughal-E-Azam, the #1 album on this list. Its known as the one of (if not THE) greatest masterpieces of Indian cinema.
Its a shame that u haven't reacted to "Chalte Chalte yu hi koi" , "Thaade rahiyo", "Inhi logo ne" all from same movie PAKEEZAH

Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna the numer one song was the inspiration behind Deewani Mastani like the entire setup of the mirrors and the set-up of the song. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is extremely inspired by the movie Mughal-e-Azam which you could see even in Devdas and more recently in Heeramandi. He also takes inspiration from Pakeezah which was featured on here as well

Guide, pyasa , mugal -e- azam , pakiza gem movies of all time in Hindi Cinema.
If people think Rang De Basanti is not a good movie then not sure what a good movie looks or feels like. This is a movie that leaves you longing after you leave the theater. Not to mention a spectacular ensemble cast.

So many great albums are ignored in the list for some average scores. How can you ignore Shakar Jaikishen's Barsaat?? That whole soundtrack was the very foundation of how film songs got composed/created in Hindi cinema. Laxmikant Pyarelal scores like Dosti, Parasmani, Ek Duje Ke Liye were MASSIVE hits only because of their music.

You HAVE tonreview Rangeela music. A. R. Rahman's first foray into Hindi films and he hit it out of the park. Stunning chireo, Urmila in her prime, and a great film (though you may not enjoy it as much because it's very much contextual to a certain Bombay.)

You must check out 90s Rahman, Taal, Rangeela, Dil Se. Waleska would appreciate some of the music videos in Rangeela and the film is good too. And I think you would both like Dil Chahta Hain. That was very modern for its time.
I had my doubts about this list when you first started. But this is an excellent top 50 compilation. Not the easiest thing to do in the world. But this was really well done. I would put the music of Pakeezah over Mughal-e-Azam, but again these things are of course very subjective and hence this is a great list. A notable missing album: Do Badan. I wouldn't put Masoom in the top 50. Could be easily replaced by soundtracks like Choti Si Baat or Rajnigandha.
Also, this list is a bit too ARR heavy. Although all his albums in the top 10 here deserve to be there, but I would put Taal in the top 5. Rangeela in the top 50 is a bit too much. Also, Khamoshi (which is missing here) I believe is Jatin-Lalit's best work and has to be above DDLJ.
