Good Catch. Parkdale Strong Neighbourhood Businesses Video Series

PNLT has been working hard on a series of videos about neighbourhood change in Parkdale. We are telling the stories about community projects, local businesses and housing from the perspectives of the amazing people involved. One of these videos profiles Jola and the Good Catch General Store, a uniquely community focused joint. We felt this was a special business that contributed greatly to Parkdale by offering an eclectic mix of local products, instruments sold on consignment, healthy foods, toys and so much more. It broke all the rules in just the right ways! Before we had the chance to release this video, just this week we were sad to find out that Good Catch will be closing. As owner Jola explained "After 10 years of building it up, I hesitate to announce that we've got 10 days to pull it apart. Rent is in arrears and Good Catch has been asked to vacate its premises by April 1st." So with a heavy heart we are releasing this video just too late. This is a pressing reminder that with rising rents and costs, all those local businesses we love need more support now than ever!
A grand Wake for Good Catch will be held on March 31st, so get out and support yall!
