I get knocked down, but I get up again; you're never gonna keep me down!
Bald Bull is back! And after a lot of training he's figured out how to... be invincible to knock outs? What the butt, man. How does, why does? Wha?
But! Star punches will work. As will serving him one immediately after he laughs at you for countering his bull charge (which they give you a star for). His new gimmick honestly isn't that much to worry about, the mook!

Go for the knockout punch! It's Punch-Out!!(!) This title is a true-to-form reimagining of the classic Punch-Out!! titles! And 60 frames per second will let you see the animation to the fullest! You've got the simple and rhythmic dodge/punch controls, your star punch, and a super-stereotypical array of contenders to bash! You can just feel the love that went into making this into a game to be cherished by the fans of the series! (It's good for newbies, too! This was my first!)
Your goal is to knock out your opponent, and to do so you need to look for openings! If you just throw punches at random they'll be blocked. In general, you'll dodge a single or series of punches and then when they're open for retribution you respond with your own! There are other methods of attack, and the game will introduce a few to you as a key method for attack, but in general it's "Dodge-punch-punch-punch"! You'll often get stars for a star punch (a more powerful attack) if you take advantage of these more secret techniques.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention! You have two ways of healing yourself! If you knock the other fella down, you can mash the punch buttons to regenerate health as long as they are on the floor. There's also the super-secret-chocolate bar! Press "-" between rounds to heal a LOT of health next round. Only can do once per match!
I played through this game once in the past using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk scheme throwing punches left and right, so this time I'll try the more classic method of the Wii Remote held sideways, buttons only.

A couple technical notes:
This is being played on a Nintendo Wii U, a system backwards-compatible with Wii discs. The Wii U has the same hardware built-in as the Wii. The Wii U will automatically upscale your Wii games based on your selected resolution and output via HDMI in Progressive Scan for a clean image.

the fact that the characters can be strong enough and durable enough to take bulls to the chest and get up,pull trucks with their mouths and destroy buildings with their bear hands yet they lose to a little guy so easily
I mean that first part is actually used in the fight against Bald Bull in Title Defense to make him harder. Notice how in the fight he won that he only knocked out Bald Bull with star punch hits? Bald Bull in title defense can't be knocked down by anything that isn't a star punch!

Remember though, Doc used to be on that level, he could dance with these cats himself in his day, and he knows Mac has the talent to do it too. The Star Punch is on par with what these guys can do.

TD Aran and Bull have got to be my favorite fights for the pure fact that you knock them back once and they come back at you just for you to knock them back again. Plus the fights are really fun

Way harder than Super Macho Man, the fact you need a star to knock him down ONCE is insane. Also little funny thing, when I kept attempting to knock him down, the game felt sorry and just made him do his taunt which was the saving grace for a few knockdowns.
I love how in the beginning he tries to scare mac, he fails and then he immediately tries again

Not gonna lie. Bald Bull was freaking intimidating even when I played the NES version.
I had to be like 22 years old when this came out. I remember I was working overnights at a factory. That morning that I got off my shift, I went to the mall to pick this up. Spent WAY too long playing during the day and had a terribly god awful next night shift. Was dead on my feet lol smh where does time go?
I was so much younger. I didnt appreciate the little details that I easily capture now that I have learned to appreciate things more closely. I never until today noticed the sound that is made when Bald Bull rolls his fists before throwing a punch, and how that little sound effect of whirling motion is all surround sound and stands out so well. Funny the things that game developers do to give life to certain things like motion based on who the character is. Bald Bull makes this powerful whirling droning noise, while a character like Disco Kid might make more sharp jarring sounds with their punches as they're smaller figures.
I also actually made it a point to make this the 2nd Punch Out game I mastered. I never beat the NES one. But I am absolutely untouchable in Super Punch Out for SNES ❤️❤️🥰🥰 It makes me so proud that I can still pick up a copy of Super Punch Out and demolish it in minutes. I still remember all the patterns, all the dizzies. I know it's not a world record, but my fastest time TKOing someone was Piston Hurricane in 7 seconds. I know for certain that someone has done it faster here on CZcams. I remember seeing it on here many years ago.
But I mastered Punch out Wii, but after trying many years later I was super rusty lol. I remember I used to know all of Sandman and Donkey Kong patterns. But then I forgot them years later. God this game doesn't get enough love. It was part of as many childhoods as Mario does. Punch out deserves a movie, a la Mario Bros Movie style.

Since it has a 30% chance to keep you on 1 HP if hit in a way that would KO you, regardless of your HP. Sturdy requires you to be at full health for it to work.

Ok, this fight……rendered my “Counter For Stars” plan almost useless. I can’t get stars as easily as before. Although the delay punch for stars still works okay, I couldn’t manage to get three stars for the knockout. Even if I did, he always hits me before I get to his OHKO weakness!
Probably too late, but everything up to the first bull charge, he'll do the exact same attacks every time, meaning you can learn what attacks he'll do.
