Megatron and Randy Moss was the two most terrifying wide receivers when faced one-on-one.
Facts
Jerry rice be like: 🤨🤨🤨
@@RalstonProdzSportsJerry rice was really dominant he was insane still but moss and megatron were impossible to stop
Tyreek is now in that convo
@@patrickjean-charles8633yeah but my top three will forever be in no particular order Moss Rice and Megatron
6’5, 235 and runs a 4.3 that is a fucking cheat code
Yet Jerry Rice outperformed him across the board. Shows measurables don’t mean everything.
@@357twilson Jerry rice played on a great team. Calvin Johnson played on the lions 💀.
@@bostarl8002 ahh I see, when you have no argument you go with the “what if” argument. It’s a safe argument because it’s a fantasy scenario so it can’t be debated or proven wrong because it doesn’t exist.
Fair enough I suppose in a way that’s a logical fallacy, I still think that just based on the eye test, that Calvin Johnson is better
@@357twilson you do realize that if Calvin had played as many seasons as Rice then he would have broken ALL his records. And Megatron does hold the record for most yards in a season
His body was wore out. Injuries took a serious toll. The way he played had everything to do with it. He would and could go get any ball out there and most of the time he paid the price for it.
Marijuana
Bullshit I met him yesterday swear to god he looks brolic as shit he still got that dog in him
@@justapatsfan4595Shiiiiiiii! I don't blame him for him using it. The man was on the Lions for christ sake!
@@xushu4990 fr
@@justapatsfan4595Yea that helped him play longer doofus
He had 4 thousand less receiving yards than moss in 6 less seasons on top of retiring after a 1200 yard season. He left a lot on the field. He’s definitely one of the best wrs the nfl has ever seen athletic monster.
People throw terms like ‘generational’ or ‘unicorn’ around a lot. This dude was legitimately one of one.
There’s never been a guy with his size, speed, hands and route running combined until him and we might never see another.
We will truzz
Nyck Harbor😮💨
@@yntLa nyck harbor is skinny and hasn’t played a snap
A wise man once said about throwing to Calvin "it's NEVER a bad option"
And ran a 4.3 which is crazy. 6'5 235lbs
I just don’t get how that’s possible this man was 1 of 1
Built like a TE with the skills of a small WR
4.35 40
45 inch vert
6'10 wingspan
6'5 230
Dude was a created player.
@@dylanray2130 reminds me of wilt
And ran a 4.3 in tennis shoes no less!!!!!!!!
nobody was skeptical
Megatron was a beast for the Detroit Lions it's a shame how they made him and Barry Sanders get so frustrated with the game that they both just retired in there prime.
You said it all. Nuff said.
He's probably the most physical WR of all time, the sport takes a huge toll on your body so he just did what he had to do to take care of himself and his family.
He's one of them, Brandon Marshall was more physical
@@keshawnmahone2330Brandon Marshall wasn’t getting quintuple teamed tho so point invalid
Could’ve been the greatest receiver of all time
Is*
@@darkykl7840 definitely could’ve been, but did not play long enough
@@cameronkc360 yea
@darkykl7840 just look at Jerry Rice's career receiving yard record and reception record
He’s the best
I think he’s the best receiver ever
Hell naw, you funny. He prolly top 10 though
I'm with u bro, he didn't have the longevity but I think he was better then anyone at his peak
If I am drafting receivers in their prime to build a team for only 1 year, I am taking megatron as my #1 receiver. If it is for a career, then is it Jerry Rice of course, but prime Johnson was better than prime Rice.
@@keshawnmahone2330"prolly top 10" you da funny one bruh😂
@@keshawnmahone2330probably top 10? Lmao oh yeah if he’s lucky right? Megatron could make a case for #1 #2 #3 or #4 on his worst day. Anything past 4 is blasphemous
The way he played was so intense it just wore out his body
Yeah
The way the lions had to lean on him for a decade is what ended his career. Mans had no help for most of his career
He was also purposefully injured too
@@tenketsu8822when
He didn’t retire too soon, his body was beat up,was in pain literally every day. And they weren’t winning. Even if he got traded, the damage was already done. He didn’t want to play anymore
Megatron, J. Rice, T.O., MOSS
MOUNT RUSHMORE of wide receivers.
Rice then everyone else.
Larry
Plus the record he had during a 16 game schedule
May not be the greatest, but will always be the most physical. Which is the best in my book
He's the goat
Him and moss were in a league of their own
Moss didn't have the body Megatron had. He was way more slender
There is a reason that the two best players in that franchise's history both retired early far too early
I still believe, if he would have kept playing, he would have beaten Jerry Rice career receiving record.
He retired early because he didn’t want to be crippled when he was 50 and brain dead. Smart move.
He retired when he was ready. We have no right to say a player retired too soon when he couldn't even get out of bed without pain killers.
THE best WR for my money. Literally no weaknesses
Thank you, detroit lions. One team destroyed the two best skill position players in my lifetime...
.. well done.
The best players don't last long.
Calvin and who?
@@keshawnmahone2330 Barry sanders
Probably the 2nd or 3rd best WR’s ever
Uhh, no one was questioning this pick. Most draft experts had him as the number one player on the board.
Honestly, it was probably the best decision for him. He didn't want to keep getting hurt plus he's made some really smart business decisions in the years since his retirement, so it's not like he needs the money.
My team is what comes to mind
Being 6’5 running a 4.3 was insane he’s definitely a hall of famer top 5 all time in my opinion just didn’t help being that tell he had to get tackled in sum brutal ways to be brought down those hits added up man Calvin was a monster
That man was a freak of nature. Imagine had he played with Rodgers or Brady . All The broken records and rings
his body couldnt do it anymore, his ankles would lock up and couldnt walk at home, but when gameday came he went off
Megatron was hurting every game, you could see it on the field. I had conversations knowing he was gonna retire about week 12.
So wait I just thought about something the Detroit Lions have had one of the greatest running backs and one of the greatest receivers and both of them retire to soon
It was very little to do with his body he politely said that. He was pissed they wouldn't give him his signing bonus of over a million and he was sick of losing. If only was on the team right now hes younger than Marvin Jones Jr. They could even use him as a te or check down. He deserves the ring.
Damn we catching strays
He didn’t retire too son. He left at the right time before his body could go through worse injuries that he had before. He was 30 when he retired and he was getting hurt because it was hard to tackle him so they had to hit him like he’s a Boss level character.
This guy is a legend
When you go up and make a catch over a guy, that's getting Mossed. When you do it over 3 guys, you're Megatron.
If he retired not so long ago, I’m sure he’d come back🥲
He got that name from Lions Wide receiver Roy Williams. Roy was known for being really funny and when he seen Calvin for the first time he just blurted out WHO IS THIS MEGATRON!?? And the name stuck.
Calvin was the GOAT in terms of raw physical ability. No one ever has or ever will come close.
Yet Rice outperformed him at every angle
@@357twilsondawg you going around here saying this, like bro was not on the lions
@@flippant5138 but he Calvin did put numbers up? Actually the more talent on your team the lower your numbers would be. So truthfully Calvin’s numbers would be less than what they are now. But Rice has Calvin beat across the board in every aspect.
At the time i think andre johnson N randy and calvin were at the same stage
Calvin Johnson was thee hardest receiver for defenses to attempt to contain in the history of the NFL. Period. Entire schemes were designed around stopping just him, & almost never worked anyway. Most difficult player to stop ever. People don't even know man.
Megatron plays today it would be scary
No one was skeptical about that draft choice.
To much pain 😥😥😥😥
There is another WR that everyone will be talking about very soon Nyckoles Harbour he is 6-6 240 and he plays for SOUTH CAROLINA.
4.35 and 42.5 inch vertical on a man that big and strong is terrifying
This was the last actually really good player to come out of Georgia Tech
Many people thinks he retired of his back but it was about his ankles
yeah he just had taken too many opposing CBs ankles that he had no more room to store them
@@funkyatomicmonkey haha true 😂
@@funkyatomicmonkey also mossing the hell out of them
Only 9 seasons bro that’s a whole decade🤣that’s fr a good nfl career
They ran a Pro Style offense at Georgia Tech those years under chan gailey I think you’re getting it confused with the Paul Johnson era
DK Metcalf is the closest to his size for a WR that is in the nfl currently
Didn’t retire to soon he was getting to many concussions not his fault
Me fav player
I agree he did
He might be the pound for pound best
1st ballot hofer
Don't forget about Andre Johnson
He should’ve got a trade to like the Seahawks or a team like the cowboys where he would not get doubled every game. He would have for sure got a ring
He did the same thing as Barry because he knew they were not serious about winning
Calvin Johnson WAS who Roy Williams thought he WAS …. Only the real will understand
Kelvin head serious hand and knee & ankle problems. He retired at the right time because his physical health was pretty bad at that time.
The best I think.. intangibly and WITH god given ability and execution. CJ mossed more guys than Moss himself. Randy was a toenail faster. Hands same. Jerry is Jerry but megatron was MEGATRON
Same with berry
He had to retire his fngers were broke up, his finger look like Baldy's, like an L
Have a jersey signed by him
Can some one pls tell me what the music is
If he didn’t play for the lions during their shitty era he would still be playing today and if not retired few years ago
Who else would you pick to play the X receiver position? No one over Calvin
1 T O goat
2 Rice
3 Moss
4 Fitzgerald
5 Megatron
And then there was kam chancellor
Talk your shit now
He was in pain
They were a balanced attack at that point. They weren’t running the triple option. It was Reggie ball tashard choice and mega I believe
wtf i swear he played 9 seasons wym "too soon"
All I got to say is HOFmer
He took allot of punishment though so I don't blame him.
Watch the Richard Sherman podcast Calvin elaborates that more and more it wasn't about him being worn out. He wanted to leave Detroit but couldn't. He had a Claus in his deal couldn't leave. That pissed him off he was feuding worth the, Fords now they are starting to repair things with the owners. The fords should'be never got into football
Bet bros team isn’t even close to touching the nfc championship but keep that energy lmao
His body gor destroyed if he played any longer his health could of been in jeopardy
Can't really say "too soon" if Calvin's body so bruised up he is dragging his feet. He gave all he had.
Barry and Megatron just wasted their careers with the Lions
AB stats are way better lol carry on
Wrong. GT was not a run style offense when CJ played for us. That was Chan Gaileys team/offense. Paul Johnson took over at GT after CJ left.
No they did use Calvin as a rb quite a few times end around fake passes into runs. Not all the time but they need to start doing more trick plays.
Now what's your think about detroit😂😂😂😂
I wonder who the next once in a generation game breaking superstar the lions will ruin and cause to retire early will be
He should’ve joined Tom Brady’s Patriots instead of retiring
Just if he didn’t waste his talent in Detroit
What? You’re wrong. Run to pass was 50/50. CJ literally won the Biletnikoff Award his last year at Tech.
76 Rec
1202 yards
15 TDs
God I swear y’all CZcamsrs don’t do any type of research.
Why does everyone assume Calvin Johnson still Had years left to play? Listen to what he says himself! He was no longer megatron! He could no longer do Megatron stuff. At the time he retired. his hands were mangled ( the thing you use to CATCH, and his ankles were completely shot, ( the things you use to run)he could have came back for more seasons., but he would have been a shadow of himself. Why don't people get that? The man said it himself. PHYSICALLY he could NOT play at an elite level anymore. PERIOD. It's not the same as Barry.
Detroit wasted him and Barry's career.
I would've retired too if I played for The Lions
It's crazy this team drafted two absolute quitters
That would be like saying Mike evans is one of the best of all time I mean yeah he is but not like the top of the top list
that is absolutely moronic
Dude was the lebron James of football 🏈😂😂and that is a no no for me 🤮🤢. I can't believe y'all saying he was better than Randy Moss FOH!!! he wasn't even half as great as T.O. lmfaoo. Detroit ain't go nowhere with him and ain't going nowhere without him smh 🤦🏾♂️💯💯💯💯
Looks like we going somewhere, fool, #1 nfc!
He was 240 which is even crazier
I’m taking megatron over Jerry rice…get at me
As a local Detroiter who watched almost every game Calvin played he had a moron at QB who would throw him hospital balls and get him injured all the time. Just look at what Stafford has done to Kupp getting him injured. Stafford is hot garbage.
