My Dirty Daily Driver - R8 V10 Plus Introduction

- The first drive video in the Speciale has been delayed a little due to the fact I want to give you guys the best experience of the car possible (namely how it sounds all the way up to the red line and with some crazy downshifts) and I can't do that until it has been 'run in' - which means I need at least 500 miles on it. Since I collected the car last week - Britain has had fog, rain and general grimness that slowed down those first 500 miles.
SO - instead - I thought i'd take this opportunity to introduce you to my dirty daily driver - the R8 V10 Plus!

I love the 1st gen R8 and I tend to agree that the current model looks 'off' in some way, I can't put my finger on exactly what though. I absolutely don't want to pry but it would be interesting to hear how much it costs to run an R8, F12, 458 etc. That might sound dull but it's an interesting 'sense of ownership' topic.

Videos and other people comment "what do you do for a living" there isn't a magical job thats going to make you rich and be able to afford supercars. Extremely Hard work & massive amounts of time in any field will make you successful like the gentleman in this video. Great vids aswell man.

I love these sort of videos, it's nice getting insight into what it's like owning a supercar. I can't wait to watch this channel grow. I have a feeling there's great things coming from you, as soon as you get used to your new camera equipment your production values will undoubtedly go up as well.

@Mr JWW Awesome video man. I just discovered you today, and am really liking your videos so far! I'm liking this long video format... for me it's exciting to watch a longer video, rather than see a bunch of 2 minute videos. One suggestion I would make, which I'm sure you already have in mind, is getting a few GoPros and mounting them in different locations in the car so we can see what the roads you're driving on look like as well. I'm definitely going to be watching all of your new videos as the come out, so cheers man!

My dad MIGHT eventually get an R8 (it's his dream car), and it would certainly be a first-gen one because of price, so it's really nice to see this video that goes over the car so well.
I found your channel yesterday and thought wtf another youtuber with expensive cars.... but after 3-4 videos i was impressed. R8 for me is the perfect daily driver, especially driving on British roads and around London, though I prefer the magnetic ride option. Just makes it much more comfortable on those long days.

Tip: maybe put a GoPro between the 2 seats. Up in the middle. Perfect view of the interior & the road. Shmee finally uses that angle sometimes!

Mr JWW Oh, they did not ; ) They did regular V10 with manual as I remember correctly. Plus was reserved for the S-tronic.
Still that would be hard choice for me... What manual do you have in mind? I read on other comment GT4- that would be a killer car. Loads of good reviews on that piece of ultimate drivers car (at least new).
F430 in manual are cool as well, but not so much for DD. I think they will go up in price.
Did you try any Aston Martin? Weirdly I think you would suit them ; )
+Mr JWW There are 2 that I know of in the UK. But Im pretty sure the guy from eve said there were 10 manual v10 pluses but not sure if that is for UK RHD or for the world market!!! He had calls from the factory several times to confirm he actually wanted manual in it! So its quite rare if a manual v10 plus comes up!!!

Ha ha I think they are just low profile, tyre pressure monitoring would flag up an issue but I'll have a look! 😋
+Mr JWW just making sure :) I have really Low profile Pirelli's and sometimes the system cannot see it until its dangerously low. On video it seems like the car was in offroading pressure which maybe it could be because you dont want a harsher ride hahaha

+Mr JWW I saw a few photos of the new R8 V10 Plus with the 610hp and a nice rear wing, wheels and all around little mods that REALLY made a car up to the competition. Would you consider change your atual R8 for the new, or put a rear wing of yours ?
About the vídeo quality, for me shows 720p as top quality, maybe if you could get a 1080p ot would improve a lot the imagem quality of your videos. The sound it is ok.
The part where the GoPro fell down was REALLY funny hahaha.
+DarkDanteZ Thanks man, got a few bits of kit on order to help out - might up the quality of the GoPro for future gigs. As for the new R8 - while I am sure it is a better can in every way I'm not actually a big fan of the aesthetics of the new R8. It's a long topic i might write a blog post about!

This is my new favorite car as of the last couple of years or so. Here in the US I've seen about 3 in person (not up close). How tall are you? I'm 6ft 4" tall and I feel that someone like myself would not fit in the r8 without my knees rubbing against the dash board. What do you think??
You will probably fit no problem, I'm just under 6ft and there is a lot of room to take the seat back 👍🏻

+KissMyAsthma - Many thanks buddy! Yes i bought the R8 brand new - however I got a pretty good deal because the replacement R8 was launching soon which saved me a chunk of depreciation. It has still tanked a bit though ha ha - cars tour coming as soon as i can arrange it, I need to move them elsewhere as bustling work going on at the garage and that takes a few people and logistics...

Hi Mr JWW why don't you choose a ferrari FF like shmee150 which is much more practical then the Audi R8 V10+ and in the Ferrari FF you can have great engine noise with the naturally aspirated V12 compair to a V10 turbo charged in the audi R8 V10+
Hey dude! For some reason I couldn't reply to you last week? Anyway... I have a Range Rover I can use daily if I need the space or practicality but I like to drive a Supercar as often as possible! I think also if I was in the market for something like an FF - I would probably get an RS6 because firstly they are around £100k cheaper for not a lot less performance but mostly because I already have a Ferrari V12 with the F12 😊 - thanks for the question buddy!

As far I know, adjustable suspension (magnetic ride if I'm right) is optional for the R8.

Hey buddy, I'm only really a fan of the more hardcore Porsche's (GT3's & RS's etc) I have never been a massive fan of the Turbo, sure it is crazily fast but I think the way it sounds is pretty uninspiring and the aesthetics don't really do it for me.
Thanks for getting back to me. I completely agree with you, the Porsche can't match the Audi V10 for noise or style but the Turbo does have something about it. Just always interested to hear the Turbo Vs. R8 debate (as a daily 'supercar'). All being well I should be able to upgrade my car next year and fingers crossed one of the aforementioned will be on the list. :-). Look forward to your next video.

Hey buddy, congrats on the A5 - much of a difference in what respect? If it wasn't for the badge I don't think they could be any more different from a driving experience, not sure if that's what you mean?

But is there really enough boot space plus comfort for the long journeys that you would use in a day to day car! PS you can't go with out the Bang and Olson sound system it's just mega!! So from a practicality point of view it isn't going to be as good as the A5 of course, but this is subjective based on your lifestyle - kids, job, hobbies etc - I love road trips and being a guy I can pack for a week in the R8, maybe not if I took the lady though ha ha. Comfort, yeah it's brilliant, there is a misconception about Supercars being uncomfortable - I would say more than any other car the driving/seating position on most Supercars has more work/thought put into it than average by the sheer nature of it being a drivers car, I have done 3000 mile road trips in the R8 with no issues, I actually have an Audi S1 and I don't quite gel with the seating position in that car which you just wouldn't expect! So yeah R8 has a tiny boot by standards but it works for me, heated adjustable seats, good sound system 4 wheel drive! And can put it in automatic if I want to and chill. It works 👍🏻

The exhaust pipes went from two exhaust pipes on each side to a single exhaust pipe on each side
+MegaZombieMinecraft They kind of did - in the V8 they have quad exhaust tips but the V10's have always had just the one pipe either side.
