- I Know I said I wouldn't use any of this boring stuff but you simply cannot beat it for the awkward bends and curves that many vans have. What might have taken two days of scribing and sanding took a couple of hours and it doen't look too bad! This is what I used.

I think this actually adds s bit of contrast and texture and softens the interior a bit against all the other hard surfaces. Sometimes you just have to take an easier route or things will drag on forever, no shame in that
Great video. I've got the exact same job to do, to the same van (just scratching my head now!). I'm concerned, as I have little experience, yet want to do a great job! I always put these sort of things off, prevaricating... (watching CZcams vids!).

Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if using the closed cell foam would prevent the vapour barrier from it's role of trapping moisture? The moisture would likely stop at the waterproof foam and collect between the carpet and foam? I was considering carpeting straight to the vapour barrier also, but like you say, it crinkles a fair bit.
You might need these vents. Usually they expell the air from the cabin as you put on the heater/ac.
And also release the pressure as you close the door.
In the end you'll need a few of them. After following the funny flapping noises in the back of our Peugeot Boxer I discovered that there are flaps in the height of the bumping bar deep inside of the beam (hope that's the right word?). These seem to be the forced ventilation. I guess it'll be ok, just to keep the two holes near to the floor open in a way, that some ventilation can take place. As we have the bus version we also have one extra forced ventilation thing in the rear side windows on each side of the van, that aren't present in the "boxed" van.
Hi ya thanks for all the hard work in putting the videos out, question, when you place the carpet onto the opening do you cut it to the edge or overlap it and then push on the door seal for a tight fit.
looks great . Question, @6:09 most of these vans have vents already to the outside? I wonder if these can be used for clean ventilation by building a simple tube fan system and so as not to have to cut roofs or new windows out.

Those vent panels help equalize the air pressure in the van so you might need to modify it later if it leads to a problem.
As far as I’m aware they are required more when the bulkhead is in so when you slam back doors the air can escape. The cab is not air tight so it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Will keep an eye on it though.
It is not about doors closing. Think about this: your OE HVAC system has 2 settings. 1) interior air is recirculated through the heater core/ac evaporator. The van operates as a closed system. 2) fresh air is pulled in through the cowl vent and pushed through the heater core/ac evaporator. This outside air displaces interior air. The van is an open system.
That fresh air must escape or the interior will become pressurized and your blower motor will cavitate. The vents you covered allowed the interior to reach equilibrium with the atmosphere. They probably weren't the only ones and you'll likely be fine. A way to test would be to fire up the van, set HVAC to full-on (fresh, not recirc) for a few minutes, then open a window slightly and see if airflow out the dash vents improves.
I think adding the roof vents pretty much covers it....

Great Job. Though the vents that you covered with foam at the back quarter of the van are to allow the air to escape when you shut the doors! Hopefully the doors still close OK?
Only needed if you have a bulkhead still in place and no other openings in the back. The whole cab is full of dash vents so all fine. 👌

Only problem with that carpet is that it will be a dust and pollen magnet. I'm going with pleather, so I'll have a real PITA to get that looking good, hehe. I'm using 2mm flooring foam on all visible metal.
Your Brits and your weird obsession with carpets :D Just kidding. Definitely looks good around the corners, I imagine trying to fit wood around those edges would have looked kinda bulky in the end. I can't wait for the next video, I love the van series!

We have a transit van... we are not converting just having fun with it. We carpeted the back but had issues trying to get it around the seats and such. And sticking. So the front and passenger area (2nd seating row) does not have carpet. I'm wonderin if anyone has any suggestions to floor mats that wont slip on the non-carpeted area. We've tried glueing them down and they continue to slip. It's very dangerous for a friend that we drive around... Any suggestions would be great!

Another great video! You carpeted over self adhesive closed cell foam. Is there any danger of the foam detaching, or the carpet coming off the foam? Looks like a good idea, that I'd like to copy!
Always a chance. I have used spray contact adhesive for the foam in addition to the self adhesive as it was not that strong on its own.

Scott Danbury Armaflex, as it's called on the continent.
The stuff from car-insulation-uk is really nice sticky and spongy and a bit of stretch to it . the stuff advertised with the red 3M 5M etc is ok for dead flat areas but quite stiff hard and not very sticky! Both on eBay.
I think it was an ebay job, to be honest the self adhesive film wasn't teh best on this stuff so I used the spray adhesive too.
The Restoration Couple I used it as a cheap sound deadener, under the ply floor and window skin panels, reduced droning somewhat

hiya ...vans coming on well...found link for carpet but was there one for the closed cell stuff that you used ??
ad- VAN-ture On the continent it's branded as Armaflex, and comes in different thicknesses. Also you can buy/use, sort of same material tape, while connecting bigger fragments. That's pretty standard stuff used in by German diy'ers to insulate. Very nice stuff - but also expensive.
