- Barbotine is the French for ceramic slip, or a mixture of clay and water usually used for moulding or decorating pottery. We pour the slip on a large board and use it to be creative. Images can be made quickly and fluidly.
Because our images can be created, changed and cleared away easily, the barbotine game encourages us to be free and playful. Nothing we create is incorrect or flawed.
It is also a lot of fun and very popular with our students.
