- Pelican Kayaks sent me 2 of their fishing kayaks. A sit-on kayak with an open cockpit and a sit-in kayak with the closed cockpit, so we packed them up and headed out to explorer a pond that only a kayak could get into for a 2-day fishing catch and cook adventure!

Hi aeveryone, Video is done its a really long one full on movie so pop some popcorn and ill see you here 10 min before it starts to chat live and watch it with you.
NICE TO HAVE GOOD FRIENDS
Odd about the paper cups but I get it I personally do a decent amount of odd things just because I like it better
Fowler's Makery and Mischief sounds great guys
Dude someone was wearing that fish lives matters shirt at my sushi bar the other night. I didn’t know it was yours... crazy
At 4:50.. It's not a bottle opener... lol its for unsnagging lines or whatever other useful use you find, ;) haha, I've used mine to fetch lures from trees more times than I'm proud of. But it does pull up every weed in the pond, you're right about that!
I can't watch your entire video without commenting... lol.
You mentioned hooking up an anchor to the front.. I suggest looking into an anchor trolly that will allow you to position your anchor anywhere from bow to stern instead of 1 fixed location. This will be handy when you want to face a certain direction and the wind won't cooperate.
P.s. I look forward to seeing you learn and explore further into kayaking, it's something I've taken pride in for years and you learn the tricks as you go. It takes flipping yourself out once or twice to really appreciate the beauty of it though... lol
Ya it's not a bottle opener it's a coment generator ;) Thanks for watching and ya me to I had a blast and have a good list of no axces pinds building up that I cant wait to explore.
Yeah Chris is great
Yeah Chris is cool I would watch his content
Chris makes a big contribution on-camera as well when you do 'buddy' adventures like this fishing video. The Pelican Catch 120 at about $750. is quite the boat for flatwater fishing and canoe camping. I like the closed storage and the high seat for comfort. For flowing water and waves or just for fishing, the kayak (with a skirt for waves and spray) is fast and maneuverable.
Chris Rocks! I'm a big fan! Been watching his videos faithfully.
Yo this is all about Chris I think.. I'm just now reading all the videos! Get it boy!!!🤪yeah baby get it!
Can't wait to see some Chris content. I am sure he has learned a lot from you and the Wooded Beardsman. It feels like Chris is about to take his finals and all of his accumulated learning will be put to the test. Even if he is not happy with his first videos, I am positive he will only get better. I remember some of Zack's first videos and he has come a long way with the graphics, music, and audio. I hope Chris gets hooked to CZcams like he was hooking those fish!
Love it. You guys are great. I have three boys and we love watching you on your adventures. Really like the way you talk about prayer and veggies. My middle son looks at me with his eyes wide open when he sees you do those things. Thank you! Really! Thank you 😊
I just bought a Pelican Maxim 100x Angler, which is almost the same boat as Chris is using in this video. I only have 3 rod holders. I'm headed to the Current river in MO for some small mouth bass and trout fishing! It's my 1st time Kayak fishing! Browns must be 18", and only one a day. but the small mouth catching is more liberal to my understanding. I can't wait to enjoy a meal of fresh fish.
Chris is a great guy! Will watch his videos for sure!
. I have a sit in pelican and a sit on old town sportsman. For fishing I prefer the sit on. Much easier to land and get the hook out of the fish. Simple mod you could do, anchor trolley, have a stick to put down the scupper to stay in place. Also put some kind of screen over the scupper hole so you don’t lose something like I did. Big thumbs up on the vid
Your lucky to have a young fella help you & be so loyal & hard working all you guys are doin great & are a great team
Chris always has a lunker, his bait always has a typical size fish for the lake.
Heck of a thing your doing with chris. Awsome to see that there are people still out there willing to show the new generation a thing or too.
We love you Chris... Best of luck and God bless!
M B Thank you, I appreciate the positive comments!
Wow, thanks Chris! I think you packaged up my new Ocularis then. You guys are a bad influence! I HAVE gotten better with my slingshot. Love your videos. The editing is great and I like the creative content...
Richard Talbert no, thank you!
Can't wait to see Chris's videos! I have enjoyed him in your videos yal have good vibes
Great team work. And a blessing to have. Thank god indeed.
Wow,looks like so much fun!! Can’t wait for the 30 day Rockies challenge!
Chris is the best 🙏
You sir are my favorite outdoors/survival challenge man on CZcams make it seem like so much fun plus the fact that you pray before eating is awesome
Awesome job Chris! Looking forward to seeing your videos.
Hey Zachary and Chris. Just wanted to let you both know that I really appreciate the videos very much. Kudos!
Want to say thanks for the kit. My son loves it. Great job to you and your staff Zachary, great job. You've inspired me not only by your Christianity but your skills and culinary as well.
LIVIN' the dream, Zach...
LIVIN' the dream!
Thanks Chris
Another great video as always!!! Nice fishing rod at the middle, it looks sturdy 😀
Welcome to the world of kayak fishing buddy!! Its such a blast!! Always good seeing buddies fishin. Hard to beat it lol
Love your channel its so cool
Hey Zach, I just wanna let you know that you are a very kind person. I really appreciate your video's to. And if Chris learned to edit and make videos from you, I think he will make some good content as well. Looking forward to it !!
Keep up the great work love the vids!! That's prob my all time go to knot for fishing.
looking forward to seeing what chris can do. good job on all he has done for zachs channel.
John Kennedyk thanks man, appreciate it!
Would definitely like to see a home made kayak anchor build!!!!
That bottle opener is often used to pick up duck decoys
I use mine to get lures out of trees or out of snags
interesting !!
Over the Winter, I recently bought an Old Town Loon 126 Angler, and an Old Town Sportsman Big Water 132 (Predator 132 Paddle). They’re both set up for fishing, I bought the Old Town Loon 126 more as an excursion kayak for exploring lakes and rivers. The Loon has excellent cargo capacity (450 lb Total, 390 lb useable weight capacity.) It’s equipped with a removable dashboard, excellent seats, (2) rod holders, an Anchor Trolley System that hangs off the Stern, and a sealable rear hatch. It uses a Polylink 3 hull that eliminates the need for foam blocking for flotation. I’m looking forward to getting out on the water. This video contains similar types of kayaks that I purchased over the Winter.
Dude a big thanks goes a long way
Love seeing Chris working on his filming skills my wife got me a go pro for Christmas looking forward to making some of my own videos!!! Love the content definitely my favorite channel to watch!!!!! Love watching you on alone as well!!!!!
I would watch his channel. I hope he does bushcraft also maybe test micro kits and other small kits.
I know this is an old video but I always enjoy when Chris one of the participants. Does Chris have his own channel?
Love the bass fishing. Awesome video man nailed it again
Thank You Chris for helping this Channel
Great job guys. Love the content. Keep up the great work. I fish out of a wilderness systems atak 140 and camp in a hammock.
Awesome! Used to spend a bit of time fishing in the Bath/Brunswick when I lived in Portland. Great area and some serious adventure to be had through the woods/lakes as you move inland.
Chris is such a trip!! Tell him to make some more videos!!!
Hey Chris. I would watch your Channel. Great job. Zach you should keep him if you can though. As for my thoughts on the kayaks I really think it depends on the personal preference. I have been in open and closed and I like both. I feel like closed has better speed and stability (not saying open doesn't just that closed was better) and open I felt it was roomier (is that a word lol) and Easier to handle a catch. As for the cooking.... thank you for making me hungry!
By the way you both should do a 2 week kayaking adventure like you were talking about but I wouldn't limit to much. It would be pretty awesome and give Chris an even bigger opportunity!
You have a good lad there Fowler. If he loves/lives the job the battle is won. Thanks for all your videos mate they always cheer me up. I'm very interested in those rods too.
From what I saw I like the open cockpit one
Awesome adventures with you guys all vidieo s
Watching with you guys all vidieo s awesome what you catch and cooking
Great content as usual thanks bring chris on the show
Thanks for making this vid! Im having trouble deciding between sit-on or sit-in kayak, Im looking for an all rounder with fishing capabilities too. As for Chris, his little intro practice had me giggling, then it was hilarious when he flipped off the camera and gave himself heck! LOL Hes cute! Id totally subscribe.
great job cant wait to see what chris is doing
paul savage thank you! I hope to post more videos soon! Always want to know what you all want to see
I thought he might be your son! Looking forward to seeing his content!
Fowler great job!
You have done something almost miraculous. My 7 yr old left his computer games to watch your outdoor show. He said, "I like this guy. That was the greatest video I've ever seen!" Of course that was from a boy who is always saying "this is the worst day ever!" or " this is the best day ever!" every day. But to keep him locked on your videos longer than 20 minutes was "epic ".
We need another big challenge with the bearded woodsman!!! Y'all make the perfect team
Chris is really cool. Glad he will have his own channel. Would definitely subscribe and support.
My kids are happy to see a video with Chris! They loved the Waterworld challenge. Just randomly watching the videos 😆
I liked the video, watched it thru.
I knew Chris was doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff, and big thanks for that...but I loved the faces he was doing for his video cover shots! (Also, that firepit grill setup is sweet!)
ladyofthemasque thank you! I hope to post more videos soon! Always want to know what you all want to see
I discovered your channel in your hunting catch and cook survial thing and I loved it so I subscribed and now I watch all your great videos also that video you showed about getting into a locked car helped a whole lot thank you
cool thanks for watching so many !!!
No problem I love them
I absolutely love this telescopic rod and reel I first seen you use it on the 30 day survival challenge and I made a comment there as well but I'm 59 and disabled but I can still get around and love to fish it's just hard for me to carry a lot of stuff around outdoors witch I haven't really done a whole lot outside lately but after watching the 30 day survival challenge Greg has inspired me so much I'm getting back to nature if it kills me but anyways just wanted to say how much I like the fishing pole and thanks 👍
Your awesome man. I watch your videos every day
cool thank !
Keep in mind you guys were fishing in super calm conditions. In higher wind, with whitecaps, you can capsize a sit inside, which sit much lower in the water, where a sit on top will just shed water into the scuppers. (Protip; scuppers will shed other fluids as well as water.....) A few days of waves cresting over your lap makes you appreciate being higher out of the water, even if it comes with a higher wind profile. On this coast, we also prepare for surviving IN the water. I always, always, always wear a PFD. In the winter I usually only fish freshwater, so I can get away wearing chest waders and a PFD, but I won't go in the ocean without full immersion gear. Our ocean is about 55 deg, so hypothermia is an issue. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to the upcoming 30 day challenge!!
Great team. Go Chris. I will like and subscribe
Thanks Chris!
jamessurre thank you! I hope to post more videos soon! Always want to know what you all want to see
I had an idea that Chris was dojng quite a bit but didn't how long. If you build it they will come!
chris cracks me up.
That bet you made 1st fish, biggest fish and the most fish was the exact bet my friend made me on my lake needless to say he lost all three...and I got a case of beer lol! Nice video guys need more!
Well done,I don't thank you no the joy your video bring to as all .best wishes Dave chubb
cool thanks for saying and thanks for watching
So for my fishing boat (okay, crappy coleman inflatable raft.), I use a length of paracord, and a mesh laundry bag for an anchor. When I get to the river, I just throw some rocks in the bag, and dump 'em out when I'm done. Works great.
that's a great idea I want to weld one up that goes on the front so I can deploy it with a wrench that is mounted right next to my seat
New sub great video! Love your edits 🎣
I love all the adventures that you go on, and thank you for all the information you provide.
I do have a question in this video (sit in vs. sit on) what are you wearing on your left wrist, please and thank you.
Great job Chris. I wish I could kick it and hang out with fowler. Keep all the hard work and am looking forward to you videos.
Keep Chris around! He is a good guy!
I think so to
All Gods Creatures Thank you, I appreciate the positive comments!
I think both of yall are great! Ive been watching this channel ever since the Texas 30 day challenge! I look up to both of yall! Keep doing what you're doing and i will keep watching ! Thank you both for responding!
Chris should get his own channel
ashtin foster knife reviews and more thank you! I hope to post more videos soon! Always want to know what you all want to see
@@livebait9666 I just subscribed to your channel for you chris
Cooool idea jokin chris up with his channel 💪🏼you guys work best together or off eachother so yeeeehaaaa niceone Fowler 😉 ! Get them vids up chris 🤘😎
The open is the one for me, BUT I want one with the peddles. If it had peddles then the dripping paddle is not a problem. The smaller one is not an option for me due to the size, at 6'3" and 260# it just is a complete no go. I LOVE all your videos!! Thanks for all you do Zach AND Chris.
You know I do like the idea of the peddle one but it be difficult in a weedy pond I think but maybe not it's just my board prop alway gets fouled up in ponds like this but man wooden it be nice to just peddle around and fish hmm may have to try one put to find out for sure
Me gusta los dos
Open deck makes more sense for fishing. It gives more area to deal with all the stuff, but man is that seat ever unnecessarily high! Hate to handle it in waves.
As for plastics, I've switched almost all to them. Some of them are really killers. Plus they're a lot cheaper to lose....and no treble hooks!
As for telescoping rods....you'll never convince me!!!
it dose have a lower position like 5 inches lower but that makes it that much harder to sand up and sit down easily
Fowler's Makery and Mischief That would make it much better.....and you shouldn't be standing in it anyway. Cool that it's that stable, but you could easily dunk, and say good bye to most of your kit.
i love you guys videos
thank you
# much love love Chris!!! /2023
I think it really is about where your start. As a lifelong canoeist, I really struggled. 3 sit on tops from top names, 4 sit inside also from top names. In the end, my solo canoe (Old Town Pack) is still my favorite. 13 years we've been fishing together now.
Of all the kayaks I've bought in the last decade... I kept the sit inside 10 ft-er. It's almost as light as my canoe and I just love the grab and go aspect. I keep it at our lake place and just use 3ish rods..5 max. I can also flyfish in it and it paddles a ton easier than the sit on tops, even the Wilderness Systems tarpon 120... all the sit on tops are heavy barges to push around all day to me.
I know the vast majority go with a sit on top... but even a NuCanoe isn't AS open as my solo canoe...which handles and paddles better than any of them for me
But then again, it's all about your start...and mine was with a standard canoe when I was tiny...growing up fishing from one before I could paddle.
Nice compare and contrast!
I think neither kayak won and neither kayak lost. They both equally did for what they were made to do for certain people and what they want. They both depending on what you're trying to do and your situation are great so just really depends on your situation and what you're doing but again another great video thank you valor thank you Chris keep doing what you got to do party on fish on.
That is a funny looking Pickerel, looks like a grass Pike
Great comparison video fellas!!! I love your new knife (L.T. Wright!?!?)!! What kind of camo pants were you wearing?? They look super comfy.
nice work Chris future CZcams content creator .
That bottle opener is actually a Luer retriever in case you get stuck in a limb pretty cool though
Can you send a link for that square lure that you used with the worm. Looks great!
Not a bottle opener, it grabs things like fishing line etc. great video, wish we had that kind of accessibility to fishing places out here in Cali.
what no fishing what do you do for fun then ;)
Look into getting an anchor trolley, it will allow you to anchor at multipoints on your kayak do you dont always have face the same direction.
Been looking for a style that I like for a while. Any kayak brands you would recommend that you might have found durring your research?
The only way you could manage between the both is to get a closed cockpitkayak but have it be 10 ft long I have the pelican trailblazer 10 foot and it is perfect
closed cockpit
Always wondered whether Chris worked for you or whether he was just a good friend to you. It looks like an awesome job!!! I'd subscribe to his channel 🙂 keep up the good work dude's
what do you use to edit? And when are we gonna get more wilderness living challenges? I loved all of those!
Could you do a complete gear video
You should try to make a collaboration with the Googan Squad. I can foresee some hilarious moments with you and them.
@1:46 union common is just up the road from me
