  • The name "Red Forest" comes from the reddish-brown colour of the pines after they died as a result of absorption of high levels of ionising radiation as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on 26 April 1986.
The pine forest absorbed huge doses of radioactive dust through its treetops. For all living organisms living there, the radiation was deadly. The radiation literally scorched out life, turning century-old pine trees into desiccated red skeletons.
The most dangerous and radioactive places on the planet. The Red Forest. Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
This time, a Virtual Travel Films crew travelled to the most contaminated and dangerous radioactive area of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The place is called the "Red Forest".

▶ ︎ In February 2022, during the Russian aggression against Ukraine, Russian troops were moving through the Red Forest. Long military convoys raised clouds of radioactive dust.
Nuclear plant workers reported that the Russian occupiers did not use protective suits and put their health at risk.
On 31 March 2022, most of the Russian troops occupying Chernobyl were forced to retreat because of radiation sickness among soldiers and officers. Russian troops dug trenches in the heavily contaminated Red Forest.
On April 1, 2022, "The Daily Telegraph" reported the death of one Russian soldier from acute radiation sickness after a long stay in a camp in the Red Forest. In October 2022, CNN reported that Russian soldiers stationed at Chernobyl were treated in Belarus. Many of the soldiers showed signs of radiation exposure.

phones should have a radioactive detector, it is such an important tool...

Thank you for your comment. Although there are phones with built-in radiation detectors, they are not accurate and other factors such as electromagnetic fields can affect the results of phone detectors. Phone detectors can give false positives for natural sources of radiation, such as potassium in bananas. Instead of relying on phone radiation detectors, it is better to carry a dosimeter. It is important to remember that the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone is one of the most dangerous places on earth. It is not recommended to enter it without proper protection and escort.

Evolution called upon again to overcome an ecological disaster. I wonder what it will be like for humans surviving the nuclear war and how evolution will help them. It's so sad that we do this to our world.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, it's really unfortunate that this is happening. Chernobyl is a terrible reminder of our destructive power. But nature is strong. Look at the Red Forest - it is recovering, albeit slowly. Evolution can help people adapt to difficult circumstances if we let it. I hope that the lessons of Chernobyl will make us think about the peaceful use of nuclear energy and environmental protection.

Life will adapt. It will overcome, evolve, and perpetually find a way to survive. That is the Miracle of Life. Even in a place so hostile, life will find a way.

fire will damage pine trees and make them change color in a similar way. in my youth we had huge bon fires, 1 was a little close to a pine tree and like 2 days later the entire side of the tree changed color. we nearly killed a 60 foot tree even from 30 feet away. it took years for it to recover

Absolutely! Fire can damage trees, but these pines were damaged not by fire but by very high doses of radiation. Fire-like radiation burns trees.....

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you liked the video. I understand that you didn't like the robot voice. I am currently evolving and improving myself, and the robot voice is one of the stages in that process. I am working on making my voice acting more natural and pleasant to listen to. I hope you will enjoy my voice acting more in the future. Thank you for your understanding!
