My grandma taught me that in order to find the sweetest/ripe watermelon is to look for one that has large yellow spots on it. It usually means its been in the sun the longest and if there are visible "scratches" on the watermelon, even better!
Fyi I'm going to now take this as an absolute fact, apply it to every watermelon and blame said watermelon if it isn't right, you're grandma sounds right
My grandma taught me the knock method and it's never served me wrong (random but I pick the best watermelons in our family haha) but I'll give this a go next time I'm at a farmer's market.

Love The Bear! I kind of laughed to myself thinking “oh no they’re watching it before bedtime” cuz I did the same thing and felt my inner peace/wind down was disturbed hahaha😂. Definitely learned to watch it when I’m emotionally ready for the chaos hahaha but I really hope you guys watch it through to the end of Season 2! It’s such a great show and love that it showcases Chicago (where I live now)!
You make a good point about words being intimate versus a video. I think that's why sometimes the book version of a movie is better than what is shown in a movie theater. Especially when you can incorporate more descriptive words when writing to convey the image or message that you want to get across. I always look forward to your vlogs - love the content!

First of all Lennon is so freaking adorable and I can’t believe what a big boy he is. On another note you were very influential in giving me that extra push to start journaling again. My first entry was last night and I know it’s something I need to continue doing but just that first entry made me feel so good. So thank you! And a watermelon update…..two things feel how heavy he melon feels (meaning water content) and feel the stem. If the watermelon feels heavy and the stem has some give then it’s probably a tasty watermelon. I’m a Chicago girl. Just give “The Bear” a chance and if you’ve never had an authentic Chicago beef try and find a Portillo’s. I believe there’s one in LA. It’s delicious. There’s three things I’m serious about……shoes, bags and food. Now done…….have a great week!❤

Loved watching this video as always! I really enjoy seeing all the family time. As someone who grew up with grandparents, cousins, aunts & uncles all within a 10-minute drive away I spent tons of time with everyone. It's always heartwarming to see you and your family together for any occasion big or small! I'm so excited about the substack. I already subscribed! Oh and I love that you got a library card and will take Lennon there in the future. I grew up attending the local library's events on a regular basis. When I moved away from my hometown I knew one of the first things I needed to do was go to the library, apply for a card, and use their resources! I love a good library!
