What makes your channel so good is that you actually take lower elo games serious, clearly you're way better but still you go through these matches slowly and explain a lot. Very nice content
10 minute is the perfect time format to allow you to explain your thinking while not being too slow like a classic 30 minute where it gets a tad boring. Love how you think out loud and methodically go through the options and throw in some general advice here and there. You’re an amazing teacher! Thanks!

I’m loving this series. Very educational. I would like to suggest that you game review/analyze the game briefly after the game is over. Think that would also help players. If that makes the video to long though then I completely understand.
I believe he should choose one of the games and analyse it after. But o like this fast pace games.

Game 1: Pile up on the Pined Piece, Don't play Hope-Chess (Hoping your opponent plays a specific move).
Game 2: Try to have multiple game plans and decide for the best based on the opponent move.
Game 3: If your opponent weakens their King, look for tactics that involve a check, Rooks on the Seventh rank are very powerful midgame, lastly plans are not set in stone, as the game evolve better ideas might show up.
Game 4: Don't cramp up your positions with your own bishops.
Game 5: Take your time on critical positions.
Game 6: If you made a successful early attack, remember to go back and develop the rest of your pieces.
Great videos. Your instinct at 42:00 to fork the Q and B w/ N to d4, leads to an overwhelming advantage: Nd5 Qd6 , Bxc6 bxc6 , Nxb4 Qxb4 , Bxh6 gxh6
Of course, having your opponent give you their queen works pretty well also.

Your "Killer move g4!!" is not mate in one (black still has Ke4), so taking the knight seems strictly better than your suggestion, right..?

You misunderstood what I wrote.
Your statement was:

My response to you was No.
It’s a checkmate.
I gave the checkmating moves.
- Bxh4
- g4+
- Ke4
- Qd5#
If you don’t take Knight, it is mate in 1.
If you do take the Knight, it is mate in 2.
No matter what move you play as Black.
The Knight h4 move will not be considered a free piece.
It’s a Knight Sacrifice designed to hunt down and checkmate the King.
Usually, A Free piece is a piece which your opponent gives you by way of a blunder.
Once, you capture the Free piece, your opponent has no compensation or justification for the loss of the piece.
Their is justification for White to play Nh4+.
The move is part of a grand plan to checkmate the enemy King which is unavoidable.
This is why you can’t say Bxh4 is free piece for Black.

It depends on your chess ranking.
At low chess level, it is considered good to fight on.
The reason why is because most low level players make several errors through out the game.
If you fight on, you give yourself the best chance to make a come back.
At high chess level, it is considered bad to fight on.
The reason why is because most high level players believe their opponent is capable of converting a win.
Fighting on could be considered Rude!

My stance on the issue is the following:
I will fight on if I believe I have chance.
I will not fight on if I believe I have no chance.
When you become a strong player in chess, you can sort of know if you have chances or not.
Sometimes, I might be down knight, but I managed to get 2 or 3 pawns in process.
It can be losing position, but the position could have compensation.
Their is clearly a difference between having nothing vs. having something.
If I feel like, I have something.
I might continue.
If not, I will simply resign.

As a beginner I have just discovered your channel. Love the pacing and level of explanation of alternative moves without all the extra fluff on some other channels, makes it really easy to concentrate on learning why moves are taken.
13:52 if black plays b6 their knight on c6 is no longer defended and you can take it with your queen. And if they take yout knight it's a knight trade, but it allows you to infiltrate their position with re5 and Bb3+.
It's amazing how calmly you play with your opponents! Simple and easy.
Watching this series has given me such a better understanding of when and how to attack. I’m winning lots of games and my games are a lot more fun

I also noticed that generally throughout your chess development you'll encounter some hops the first one for me was getting over 800 the second one was to get to 1000 then up until 1250 it was gradual ,now i'm stuck , i think i meed to adopt different kinds of playstyles and thinking patterns , once i break that barrier i will advance rapidly for a while only to meet another barrier

17:27 You will only win a rook, not the queen, with the move Rd5. Blocks the bishop check and intervenes the rook from taking the queen.
That square is still covered by 3 white pieces with another potential discovery after the white rook capture. All that being said I would’ve moved the rook to the other suggested square. Good thought. I’m likely missing a good black followup being a Patzer myself.

You are incorrect!
If Black blocks with Rd5, White takes the Rook with his Rook on d5. Than White has the same discovery as before. Black can’t move his Queen out of Danger.
Any square Black Queen goes to the White Rook will follow with same tactic.
Black needs to play 2 moves in this position. Black needs to move his King & move his Queen both out of Danger. The problem is the rules of chess only allow 1 move to be played at a time.
Unfortunately, in this position, the Black Queen is lost no matter what Black does.
The only thing Black can do is get the most value he can out of the Queen Sacrifice.
Nelson played the better Rook move. Rc6 isn’t as good as the move Nelson played.
If Rc6, Black will play Qd5.
It blocks the Check with Queen.
It’s still losing for Black, but the goal for Black is to get as much material as he can in the process.

Hi Nelson. Quick question, at 53:05, after you moved the knight to h4, why weren't you concerned about black capturing the bishop?
Good question. I honestly didn't even see the bishop at d8 at first. There is a chance that maybe even Nelson overlooked it. Anyway, you made me think and I found the soulution. It's a mating net! After Bxh4 there is g4+! and Black's only escape square is e4. After that it's just a mate: Qd5#
You should play the Englund Gambit to show how you can easily get tricked by it in low elo.
My problem is not with knowing what to do. Its with moving too fast, not looking for the best move and being too absorbed in my own attack while not noticing my opponent’s attack.

Here we go again! In that last game, you traded your 'good' bishop for black's knight, leaving you with a very bad, light squared bishop. This move was in no way forced. So we have another example of basic positional ideas being thrown in the dustbin [ sorry, trashcan....I'm a Brit] by a master level player who, himself, has made videos about the very subject of 'good' and 'bad' bishops. Its no wonder that dorks like me get so confused about the finer points is this frustrating game!

Nelson was illustrating how the Queen could get trapped and was making a mental note to think about it.
The Queen can get trapped in this position after a few series of moves if White isn’t careful.
Nelson was telling people the starting move and the finishing move in the sequence of moves.
- Nf6
- Kf7
- Nc6
- Bg7
Nelson is a strong chess player and strong chess players often do the above as a short hand.
Other strong players will know what they are saying, but I can see why you was confused.
Nelson should have explained the whole thing out so beginners players could understand.
It is a video dedicated to teaching beginners so they might not understand a short hand analysis.

After watching this series I've dropped a lot in rating, I've gone from 1200 down to 1050. Paradoxically, this series is just making me worse and worse at chess. Quite frustrating because I enjoy the series a lot and as I watch I feel like I'm making a lot of the same decisions and reasoning as Nelson. Maybe the video is tricking me into thinking I'm making the decisions, but in reality Nelson just has way more knowledge about the game, so when it comes to the real game, I just flop.

Engine prefers what you suggested but only marginally. Both are winning moves.
At 17:40 you don’t necessarily get the Queen right? Couldn’t he sack his rook on the D column instead by blocking the check? It’s a free tool as you can take it either with the rook (which threaten but it can move) or your Bishop which puts the king back in check but doesn’t threaten the Queen. You could also take with the Queen which forces a Queen trade. In all scenarios you are looking good but it’s not the same as a free Queen?

Dude why are you playing like a 2000 rated player against 700. Make some mistakes, blunder a piece of two. See what happens. Make a random move and tell us why that random move is bad. What's the point of you playing as a high rated player against 700? The 700 rated viewers doesn't even understand what you mean when you play that way. Especially when you get a winning position from the start.
I disagree on this. I love the way Nelson is playing. I am stuck on 900 and really like the way Nelson is explaining what is going on in his head concerning the position and why he is playing a certain move.
@@maartenduits5381 I like the way he is explaining stuff too, but it's not helpful when he gets a winning position after 5 moves. Like no 900 plays like that. A lot of 900 still blunder and they won't play the most critical move. All I am saying that I think it would be nice if he played a bad move once in a while and explained why it's a bad move and how in the long run this move messed up the game, so that lower rated players can see the mistakes that they make. Also it gives the other opponent a fighting change which makes it more interesting. May be even outline the mistakes that the opponents make and what you should do in this moment. And trust me, it's gets boring very quick watching a high rated player destroy a low rated player. A lot of chess CZcamsrs have these types of videos and they get boring.
The 700 rated players don’t understand what? The point is showing how to bring all these basic principles into play at this level and it’s extremely helpful to me. Teaching us how to avoid making blunders with a logical thought process. I’d much rather learn the right way to do things.
