How Chinese Scientists Broke the Teleportation World Record

  • Scientists have Found a Way to Make Teleportation Work.
So to be clear, by teleportation we mean the instant transport of an object over a distance. Right now the world record for teleportation is held by Chinese scientists. They teleported 1 atom over a distance of 1,200 kilometers from the ground up to a satellite.
    Here’s how they did it
So they first measured the atom's exact properties. And cuz of the laws of quantum physics, this actually causes the atom to lose those properties. Meaning the atom is effectively destroyed. But now the scientists can beam the information to the satellite. Then onboard the satellite, an atom in the exact same state can be created. Intuitively this doesn't feel like teleportation but...

This isn't teleportation. You literally just said that teleportation is instantaneous transmission and then showed someone get rid of an atom and then make a new one. This is the equivalent of telling someone you are going to make a rabbit appear under a hat and then picking up the hat and putting a rabbit under with them watching. I hate clickbait
Edit: it doesn't matter if it's the closest thing to teleportation it still isn't teleportation. The original atom remains and just loses its properties. This is more similar to cloning than teleportation.
Edit 2: again, it doesn't matter that it functions as teleportation, it matters if it is. May I remind you the original atom is still there. May I remind you the newly constructed atom is a different atom from the original. May I remind you it takes time for the data to be beamed and for the atom to be constructed. If teleportation is instantaneous transport, as stated in the video, then not only does this process not fit the requirements by not being transport, but it also contradicts them by not being instant. For people saying that teleportation would not be possible otherwise, that is exactly my point. Teleportation is a fantasy concept. In the same way we cannot ascend to the 7th dimension, we are unable to teleport. Teleportation defies every known quality of physics and is not possible.

This video is inaccurate, but there is a real way quantum mechanics causes teleportation. Basically quantum mechanics are weird. There are a couple of unintuitive ideas, including the idea of a superposition. The superposition is explained by the thought experiment schrodingers cat, basically where because something like a radioactive ion decays randomly, the ion is in a state of both decayed and not decayed until someone looks at it, where it will then choose a state based on a probability. But there’s also the idea where subatomic quantum particles are connected to each other. Due to the idea of superposition, if you observe one of these particles, its twin will perform the opposite information instantaneously. This theoretically teleports information, though it is impossible to make use of it because you have to observe the twin particle to notice the change, which breaks down the probability anyways.

I hate this type of teleportation cuz its kills you and makes an exact copy of you

First of all it doesn't kill you second of all it's not teleportation

How exactly is measuring properties of an atom destroying it? We have a lot of information about atoms, those mesurments have not anihilated matter. Secondly, if we are talking about measurements of electrons and protons and neutrons then yes, by measuring their location you loose information about their speed, but it's not destroyed. You just can know only one at a time. Which also means you cant measure all of the properties.
defaq are you balbbing about? And how have they created an atom?

"Rather, they sent a packet of information from Tibet to a satellite in orbit, up to 870 miles (1,400 kilometers) above the Earth's surface.
More specifically, the scientists beamed the quantum state of a photon (information about how it is polarized) into orbit."
Yeah so everything here is utter bs
