- In this episode I'm out with @ell.archer and Ellie for an overnight in the @thornhill_ultraheavy Lavvu & to cook some incredible food in the Bedouri camp oven, including a rolled fallow shoulder from a previous stalk.
We have fun making some Finnish rocket stoves and enjoying our time together in the woods.

Hello, there the best cooking of deer I have seen is a fire pit covered in green leaves and herbs then sealed with leaves and cooking foil then put dirt on top and left to cook for 3 hours with a stick in the middle to let the steam out, military cooking, this is the whole side of deer only

Another cracking vid Liam. Top tip with the lavvu: if it’s pitched low like that you can take down the front guyline once pegged out so nothing to trip over on the late night pee dash 🫡

A lot of wasted space in the Lavvu mate, too much sag, a taller pole or tied off on a high ridge line would make better use of its potential living area and would give straight side's with no sagging edges 👌🏻👍🏻
Absolutely, I was really happy with the low setup for the cover and it would work well in a shower but it could go way higher as you suggest! A ridgeline would be the one I think 🙏🙏
Quite close to a Beech. How do you gauge safety when considering the site. Do you look as at the age or size of a Beech?
Definitely, good spot too! I usually do a root sweep and make sure that the fires not located near any larger surface roots and is located on bare earth, it's usually clay in that area which helps a lot too. Generally the older the tree the more nervous it becomes as there's alot more heartwood involved. It's a very important step!
