I wanted to comment on the title. Colin did not fall in love with Penelope at any one moment. Rather it has built gradually all along. Colin has BEEN in love with her, but he just lacks the self-awareness to realize it yet. The actor Luke has deliberately been playing it that way since season 1 too, as he has read the book Romancing Mr. Bridgerton which this season is based off. Yes there will absolutely be changes to the story from the book and I'm looking forward to them. But his love for Penelope is NOT a sudden bolt of lightning. Rather it's a shift in perception. It's more him 'realising' he's in love with her, which may or may not happen all at once. In the books it happens gradually first he realizes she's pretty then he realizes he wants to kiss her, then he wants her baddddd then eventually he realizes he loves her.
I hope we all understood this. And realize this is an ai-generated script. This is sludge content made quickly by a team of people who don’t even watch the shows they are “commenting” on

"The best foundation for love is friendship" one of thest quotes ever. My problem is that he appeared to have disrespected Penelope. Although I am convinced there was more to what he said than what she heard because she ran off upset. Him not being in love with her yet wasn't the crime. Because up to that point even if he wasn't in love with her he was always supportive and treated her like someone that he loves. Being a friend is not a crime.
Now he's waking up. I loved the clip with mean girl who spilled the drink on her having her mouth hang open. (I swear I can't remember her name) Cressida that's it.
I agree! His actions speak louder to me, he was not entertaining the gossip about the Featheringtons' scamming cousin because it might hurt Pen's family. And when he found out it was true he ran the cousin out of town and helped them out. His mind just hasn't caught up to his heart yet.
But it's important to remember (I saw someone bring up this point on another video) how much weight the Bridgertons' opinions hold in the ton. Him saying he would never dream of courting her definitely hurt her chances with other suitors. And the fact that he said that right after saying she was special to him. I understand why she was so upset. So excited for the dynamic switch, though😊

Actually, that’s pretty much what he said. Point. Blank. Period. In the books, it’s arguably worse though. Cause instead of other men from the ton he says “he’ll never marry Penelope” he tells Anthony and Benedict and then Anthony walks her home after the awkward encounter…
YIKES…. I say arguably because his saying this to other men at the ton instead of his brothers(who in the books at this point are both already married) affects Penelope’s reputation a bit with other men and hurts her chances in the marriage market.

I feel conflicted about Pen's 'transformation'. I get that she takes control and wants to feel like herself but at the same time, it being the 'beginning' of Colins changing perspective and seeing Pen for Pen is kind of unfortunate. A girl grabbing a guys attention she's known is hinged on a grand transformation trope feels so overplayed and shallow
Yes and no it just enhances her BEAUTY I still don’t like that she was lady whistleblower but she is finding her own confidence and power first and I’m all for that and Collin has to EARN HER(in Olivia pope voice)let the games began..
She's finding HERSELF. And people ARE shallow. She's claiming her power as a woman, rather than a girl. And that's why Colin suddenly sees her.
It’s not like that in the books, in the books it’s been 10 years. So she has grown from 18 to 28. It wasn’t a makeover just her growing up and having her own fortune so her own independent self, style. Colin travels nearly all of those 10 years and comes home to a grownup much changed Pen. And he sees her as a woman not just his childhood friend and confidant. One of the changes I don’t like along with him insulting her in front of the whole Ton. Whereas in the books he gets irritated at his brothers teasing in their parlor and says he’ll never court her. Heartbreaking for sure but doesn’t paint Colin as a absolute douche..
he really should grovels and beg her.. a lot. the way he hurt her make me throw hands. it doesnt matter that he doesnt love her, it matters that he hurt her when he said he never court her the way she is. and he said she is "special". special my ass.
That's not exactly the way it happens in the book, which is fine. I prefer surprises, but i do hope it's at least as funny, chaotic, and natural feeling as the book.
