Michael Jai White seems like he should have been a bigger star than he is.
The Spawn role should have propelled him more.

@@igot5onit423 I think Michael Jai White has over several degrees of black belts in various martial arts styles. He's trained to kill.
I read an interview with Steven Segal where he talked about how he would hit stunt men for real. And his justification for it was, "If they were real martial artists, they should be fast enough to not get hit."
That always bugged me. As a high ranking martial artist (fifth or sixth degree black belt in aikido at the time), it's actually HIS responsibility to control his moves so he doesn't hurt the people he's working with.

@@t-bonestickyfingers1336 Lol! He probably has issues with authority due to unresolved childhood issues. Although he read the initial comment incorrectly, to get upset or question the person making reference in regards to the statement, as a high ranking martial artist, in a disdainful manner shows that there may be lingering issues as it pertains to people of any type of status, authority or ranking. He's probably the type of person to do the opposite of what is requested of him to prove that he can't be controlled and told what to do. I could be wrong.
MJW is one of those actors where I'll have NO interest in a movie but if I see his name in the credits I'm watching it. Dude deserves more accolades than he's gotten in hollywood. And Seagal knew not to hit Michael because Michael can fight. If he reactively hit Steven in response, production shuts down for 3 months while Steve eats jello through a straw.

MJW was great in The Dark Knight; one of my favorites of his performances. Yes, it was a relatively small part but he was so menacing in that first scene that he was in with Heath Ledger that he literally stole the screen away from Ledger when he slammed his hand on the table and screamed “ENOUGH from the clown!” 😂

Man, the most interesting part is about Tony Jaa. Elaborate on that, Ong Bak is one of the greatest martial arts movies of all time.
It's an understanding of who he can hit and get away with it without getting hit back
I hung out with Michael Jai White while a guest of Producer Anthony Santa Croce on the movie set of 'Mutiny,' directed by Kevin Hooks. Mr. White Was an amazingly cool guy. We spoke about Japanese Samauri movies, training, and Martial Arts. He was/is a total gentleman who in his large well-trained frame, gave respect to my notions and ideas developed with my then 5'7" 150 lb frame. Unlike many stars who only see themselves, we had a genuine down to earth talk, akin to two guys with a beer and a plate of Mama's ribs. He is genuine to the core.
