I'm ah Floridian... And love Love LOVE me sum FAMU... But I honestly want to know, do the directors or arrangers read these comments. Technically and Soundwise.... FAMU has got back to what I remember. I know Tradition can't be broke but why play the same songs year after year? Some songs I expect the band to keep for traditional reasons but it's 2017 and My God FAMU can you guys play some other stuff. I hate to even comment because you read nothing but hate & bashing on what FAMU once was compared to what FAMU is today. Coming from ah fan... Ah supporter... Y'all seriously need to step it up ... The dude in green wanted them to leave, BUT he then allowed the fans to dance right in front of the band @01:06:00! I think the females look beautiful in front of FAMU band. The cheerleaders perform with the band, so why not the #Diamonds? Then I see random fans out there on the floor dancing in front of the band! SMMFH!

They're still FAMU's Diamond dancers, just like SU Black-N-Blue dancers, and IMO, they should be allowed to dance just like all them non band members that were out there on that floor. They don't have to be apart of the band to support their school's band! It's simply having spirit and pride for your school during an event! Imo that man was wrong for asking them to move, especially when he didn't ask those fraternities that were out there dancing to move! Why? He was simply scared to confront all them dudes, because he knew them guys would give him the business, and he didn't want to be embarrassed! FAMU Diamond dancers were there in support of THEIR schools band! All bandheads already know the Diamond dancers just a team of campus dancers! I'm an SU alum, and crabbed with the #HumanJukeBox in 86, so I'm very familiar with all our HBCU bands histories and tradition's! Lastly, if the cheerleaders can participate in the botb, then I most certainly feel fraternities and campus dance teams should be allowed to be there in support of their band and school! He could've just ask them to dance behind the band like the cheerleaders. Look at FAMU flags doing 8 counts @01:07:11! LOL! I'd rather see sexy females like them Diamond dancers than that! This was a BOTB, and the entire student body should be allowed to support their band in some way or another. He could've told the Diamond Dancers to go dance in back with all the cheerleaders. And fyi, FAMU band BROKE TRADITION when they started ALLOWING FEMALES in the band period! What about the real FAMU band which was ALL MALE? I've read comments from the real old school FAMU band, and they do not acknowledge you females in the band today. Yes, I totally agree, and we act like we don’t know it sometimes, if you read some of the comments I mean, it’s like some are acting like what we have in dc,no adults in the room , but I digress, bands are doing a much better job @ marketing themselves , and that’s a win-win situation , so I love that,, bk in the 70’s when I marched @ NCA&TSU, after the games, the band at either school would host the eat and greet , and sometimes we had enough time to hang/party together, huh hmm,, W/O INCIDENT I must add,,,we had adults in the room , so young folk enjoy yourselves at this great FRATERNITY, but think for yourself, if it don’t feel right, follow that,, and respect the frat,,,lololo,,, we are strong if we stop the BS.

I have to give credit to #TXSU they brought their "A" game, but you can't measure the two bands because the SWAC has their own style and we have ours. plus how can you all say TXSU blew out my #M100 when the BOTB was in an enclosed gymnasium with that said its not bout how loud can you play but can you play loud with a quality of sound that maters. I'm proud of both bands, they showed great musicianship and i was excited to hear all the song selections. what i really want to give praise to is TXSU kids for coming to tally in the mists of their hometown getting pounded by hurricane Harvey so that is what i feel thankful for, those kids had fun and they was safe doing something they love and enjoy. i mean we don't know if those kids returned back to school with all their belongings destroyed or ruined underwater but we sitting here fighting over who was better, stop judging these kids based on the past and embrace the future these kids are attempting to create for themselves.

TXSU played the tribute to Bob Marley better in my opinion. Im not biased i have no allegiance to any of these schools but TXSU's sound is closer to what im use too. Plus that piece is a New Orleans thing, ive heard it played my entire life.

Man! I listened to this whole video before coming to the comments section. I FIRMLY believed that FAMU walked away with the W. Their sound was more balanced, their low brass had power, the notes were cleaner even with more difficult song selection...and they still kept their characteristic sound. Seems like I am in the minority.

All I can say is we need better and more arrangements that bring out the clarity in the brass instruments. I refuse to believe that it's the students, its up to Dr. Chipman and the rest of the band staff to TURN THE PAGE to put our band back on top. This was a definite loss this time for the 100 but there is always tomorrow.....

From a Musician's perspective you really can outplay FAMU...their arrangements are better than 95% of HBCU's, plus they blend better and they actually have a fine woodwind section. But I will say this...I understand the comments below...Its preference. If you're into the traditional SWAC sound you will never have FAMU winning a battle. That's really not their aim in the first place so I get it. But if we are having a musicality discussion FAMU does everything. They play with a controlled sound (which is how you teach students how to play their instruments btw) and never produce distorted sounds (like most SWAC schools tbh). So if you don't like them and/or aren't a musician they won't win too you, but for me FAMU won this.
christopher mclemore I agree. As a Flautist and Piccolo Player I can appreciate an Strong woodwind Section. Musicality FAMU had a strong presence but I was unimpressed by the showmanship.
