I’ve been going crazy for the past few days trying to find this video because I thought you did such a good job of teaching. It’s a completely different technique from all the other quilt. Did you go but what I do like is that you don’t have to sew strips of fabric on the front and you don’t have to have to have piecing on the back. I just got a new Bernina sewing embroidery machine and I don’t want to go through hooping and unhooping the entire quilt but I would like to machine embroider individual blocks, and this method looks real good for me. I could then do a serpentine stitch down all of the seams. I have not done any quilt as you go method but as I say, I’d like to try it quilting blocks and doing it this way. I have no problem with quilting quilts that are about 60 across and 80 down so I think when I would do with your technique I would do serpentine stitches down the seams as well as borders if I add any to at least have some quilting on the back. Thank youfor being such a good teacher and a new technique
Wow what a lovely message I will pin this so all can see, thank you so much , I Am so happy when others get value from my tutorials it makes the whole process worth my time thank you once again for such a depth feedback , you made me happy today thank you.
My favorite way to make a quilt
I love this quilt! Best method I have seen. Thanks for sharing!
Pam
Beautiful quilt! I'm getting ready to do a quilt as you go.
@@phyllismawyer5368 well done send a pic
I like your quilt; it turned out pretty. My only problem with it is that my understanding of 'quilt as you go' is to make it so we don't have to roll up a big quilt and finagle it through the harp of a small machine, struggling with the bulk and weight...as well as struggling to keep all layers smooth while quilting. By adding a backing to a full size quilt, it goes against the prime objective. I'm so glad YOU are happy with your method; that's all that matters in the end.
Thanks. I like this technique.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful
Thank you
Loved watching the quilt as you go technique. Will try this soon.
I like your quilting like this better!
I imagine that you're the best teacher in Australia. You are so kind and are very loving. And I love to watch you make me feel like my grandmother still here. That always makes my day I have a lot of your videos to catch up on as you can tell but at least I have a lot to watch and look forward to. Thank you for all you do. God bless
P.s Do you sell your quilts? I would love one to cuddle with.
A very beautiful message thank you so much
Yes I do you can visit my store craftyquilting.myshopify.com/
I never like quilt as you go but I like your method so I am going to try it ,that is after watching this video over and over again 😀😀😀.
😊yes I too never liked it so I decided was to change it up to suit me and anyone else who’d love to try my method
I like the double sash as well as quilt design and method of the QAYG. As a beginner I look forward to trying this.
Hi thank you for your comment i have other various QAYG vids try this oneczcams.com/video/G0mA-tmFw_s/video.html

thanks for watching any questions you may have when you start the quilt, please do not hesitate to ask I'm here to help
Very cute quilt. I like the way you explain everything so well which is helpful to new quilters like me.
Glad it was helpful! thank you very much
Interesting technique. When I QAYG, I just sew through all 3 layers at the same time, including borders as a kind of flip and sew. I iron as I turn each piece to keep it nice and flat. I like seeing how others do it. Whatever way is convenient to you is the best method. 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen
Yes that sounds simple also that technique
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL QUILT . I LOVE THE PAISLEY ON THE BORDER . I LOVE PAISLEY ANYWHERE ON ANYTHING AS LONG AS THE COLORS ARE THE SHADES A LIKE . THANK YOU FOR SHARING .
thank you
I love how you did this row by row. I’ve never done QAYG but I sure love the way you did this. I’m gonna have to try this. Thanks for sharing❤
You are very welcome
I love this quilt. I definitely want to try this technique. Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant you will love it Kimberly
You made your method look so easy. Your quilt is beautiful. It should make someone very happy. Thank you.

Good video loved it watched it twice
Glad you enjoyed it
Love how you put this all together. Great ideas. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Much easier than doing the individual blocks & sashing . Look forward to making this .
Yes very easy
Beautiful quilt, thanks for the tips. You make it all look so simple and straightforward ❤️❤️
it is ....some complicate the process
Love your instructions, I have not done a quilt as you go quilt as yet, will try your method. Thanks for sharing.
Please do! have fun id love to see yours once completed
I watch your videos as you post them. I love your videos and have learned a lot. Thank you for your way. God Bless 🙂❤
Thank you
Thank you for doing this video, there are so many good techniques. The whole purpose for me to do Qayg is so I don't have to deal with quilting the large backing, keeping it flat and putting it through my domestic machine. For me, this does not serve my purposes for a large quilt but I would definitely use this technique for a smaller quilt.
thanks for your feed back do let me know how it goes
My understanding of a true QAYG is doing the quilting all through all three layers of a quilt sandwich. However I guess all methods of construction are equally valid.
Usually just the top and batting But very different from what she is doing
Me too, I thought each block was an individual mini finished quilt that you attach to another and so on. I was getting baffled as to what she was doing.
Agree. Been quilting 40 years plus. Originally was all 3 layers. But you can do first 2 then add 3rd row at a time while adding all rows together. Block at a time would be too time consuming I would assume. QAYG great for those of us without long arm machine.
Love your black sewing machine, nearly all machines are white/cream so it is terrific to see a different one. Your free motion quilting was so neat 👏🏻
Thank you that’s true never looked at it that way lol as it’s back it cleans up nicely
Have tried the free motion quilting yet ?
@@CraftyQuiltingDesigns I tried free motion quilting, it didn’t go well 😂 Discovered that what is in my head doesn’t get sent to my hands as they move the fabric, resulting in a mess of lines 🤓 I know it is just practice, practice, practice, but for now I will use end-to-end quilting in my hoop 😀
I love that border fabric!!
yes its so lovely isn't I i could not refuse it when i saw it in the fabric store
I have just come across this video as I want to make a quilt but only have a normal sewing machine. Having watched quite a few of the quilt as you go tutorials on youtube yours is just so straightforward and easy to follow. I was feeling a little overwhelmed before watching this. Thank you so much for being such a good tutor - I am confident that I can now follow a technique that will result in something usable!😊
Lovely to have helped most you have used my QAYG technique has been very successful happy quilting
I really like your technique of quilting as you go by the rows. I am in the process of making a quilt for my son and plan on using this method as I only have a domestic machine and think it will work for my needs and space. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Wonderful! you can do it
So beautiful well done
Thank you for this, much appreciated. Hello from an Aussie.
Our pleasure!
Beautiful 💖💖💖
Thank-You for your Great tutorial, you explained it well. I have a loot of blocks made, strip peicing style and now to make some LAP QUILTS to practice your Method. Nancy MN.
Oh that’s great the method is really simple I’msure this will be the way forward
Thanks. This is a great technique. I've done before... but à good reminder how easy it can be to do on a domestic. I will make my next quilt like this... 👍 like your quilting..hugs
Glad it was helpful reminder
Love ya patern ! Love ya free motion quilting ! Grt job !
Thank you
Very good step by step instructions. Thank you.
Your welcome
I will definitely use this easy ,easy method . I love that you waste very little fabric and making the rows is so easy and quick . thank you for making this method of QAYG quilting for beginners.
Hi Donald you are very welcome enjoy
It turned out beautiful. I love the fabrics you used. God bless.
Thank you
Going to give this method a try 👍

I know this method as stitch and flip; it's a good technique.....thank you!
Your welcome
Thank you for this video! I've only watched a couple other QAYG tutorials and this method made sense to me and I can't wait to try!
You are so welcome thank you I know you would enjoy he process
This was great, thank you for this video.💞 I do like the idea of using a row rather than individual blocks. I have done both methods and prefer this one.
Wonderful!
I love this method
Your welcome do have a go
I appreciated your analysis of this approach. Good to think about the pros and cons!
Thanks for watching!
So much measuring for this type of guilting!!!
quilting s about measuring, don't knock before you try it.
Very pretty quilt and great tutorial. I would like to make a scrap quilt using the instructions
You can do it
Your idea makes it much easier to handle on a regular sewing machine. And your line on the top is brilliant.
Thank you Mickey
Yes make look so easy
Hey, Brenda, are you going to have go?
I love your technic and you do not have to stretch for too long when you are doing a big one . I will start one for a big king bed and it will be heavy job for me , I found it easier to quilt just the straight line when the quilt is finished , less long weight for me because I am disabled and I am doing my quilting which I love as a therapy. One question when you join the batting do you put them next to each other or you put on the the top and sew the zig zag. Thank you again for sharing you have a very clear way of teaching and easy to understand your beautiful accent .Happy Quilting
Hin I just place THE BATTING front sides together check out some of my other qayg videos to get a clearer idea of how i do it
I love this idea. I just completed my first QAYG quilt and I found the cover strips to be a pain in the behind. I'm looking forward to trying your method.
Hi Tiffany thank you, look at my other QAYG as I have improved the technique since this video
I love it the way you did it and your explanation makes very easy for me as a beginner quilter. I really gonna follow your instructions. Thanks for sharing ❤🎉😊

Thanks for sharing 🙂 Love it! I have watched several QAYG. You have a front design and back design, love it. Going to use your technique.. from Chicago . I love the row technique.
Awesome! Thank you!

Awesomely awesome. Thank you so very much. I LOVE 💕 you’re tutorials, and the way you explain things. Very inspiring for me, as I am self taught, and unconventional. Wow what a lovely message thank 🙂you so much
You are welcome, just had to let you know. I have just met a nice new friend. Thank you.
Love her creations & explanations. Hoping my teen granddaughter starts quilting.
thank you Theodora
Thank you for showing another lovely quilt. ❤️
You are very welcome
I love your quilt. So glade I found your site. I wanted to learn more of quilting as you go. I like your technique and would to see one done with the sashing. Thanks
you are welcome soon one will be posted
I think I would do the rows like you did but I would add the backing also because that would be so fast to finish 👍🏼
Have a look at this video show QAYG with rows czcams.com/video/G0mA-tmFw_s/video.html
Love doing the row at a time
Yes it’s so much easier and quicker less stress
Try using a scrap that’s call leader or ender, it will keep your machine in a go motion and also save your tread.
Will do thank you for reminding me
Just found you!!! Love the little space you use. I tells me I can do it too! Love your personality!
Oh thank you so much
Thank you for your video, very helpful. Love your accent too! I have subscribed to your channel :)
Thank you Carol and thanks for subbing
I am very very new at quilting and came across your tutorials on making a quilt in a day Don’t have a long arm machine is there one that could’ve added to my machine
confused by your question please clarify
@@CraftyQuiltingDesigns what do you use for the free quilting design
Is it a separate machine
@@BajanGirl358 no just use my same sewing machine using a special machine feet carped. Darning foot or quilting foot you need to look at your sewing machine instructions it will say if your sewing machine is able to do the function it will sully a darning foot
When you were explaining about turning on notifications what do you mean by the bell?
To make sure that you get all notifications go to the bell and select all it turns dark
Your quilt is beautiful ❤❤❤ thanks!
Thank you! 😊
But then how do u attach the backing so it's stays??
Just spray glue baste the backing and then do straight line quilting or stitch in the ditch from the front of the quilt then bind as usual
First time watching your VIDEO'S. I'm wondering what is your throat space in width and height of your sewing machine? Make and model? Because it looked like you were not struggling too much. passing the quilt rolled up through the throat space? I like this video you explained it well.
hi Marion thank you for commenting, at the time of making this video I was using the Elna Sewing Machine link below with all the details throat space is 7 inch's from the needle. czcams.com/video/l0aYe3w1BWo/video.html
However, I have now moved on to another machine and the throat space for this one is much larger 12INCHES link below. czcams.com/video/zFQAerXLWi8/video.html
No offense, that was not qayg. You did a hybrid that seemed to make more work. You also instructed the viewer to turn each block upside down next to the one it is connected to - then broke your own rule randomly. I would not normally point this out, but since you are doing the quilt as instruction to others, you should have been more careful. That said - the finished product looked good.
it is my take on a quilt as you go, my videos are about thinking outside the box to get the job done, not everyone likes the other method but thanks for viewing and commenting
How did you put the backing on?

how you managed that I don't know ,it's beautiful x

Do you recommend chiffon fabrics or not at all?
@@lsalmon907 no chiffon is not suitable it’s too thin and will pull and ripple with the amount of stitching not sturdy, quilting is quite robust hence all the stitching to hold the 3 layers together
@@CraftyQuiltingDesigns I thank you! I am a starting novice at quilting, but I am willing to learn and I appreciate your experience. ❤👍
@@lsalmon907 no worries at all you are welcome

Beautiful quilt please try not to shake the camera as it makes me queasy please . Love your work
I’ll do my best thank , you for watching
When you are sewing one after another on the sewing machine do you not need to back stitch each end, ?
No need to back stitch
Quilters are always curious and want to see how things are done. Even if you teach, actually especially if you teach. You need to be up on things in our world, how else are we going to satisfy the needs of our students.
I really don't know what you are referring to here, But hey thanks for viewing.
New subscriber here, and my notifications are on. Love the quilt!!
Thank you Gena, welcome to my channel
Are you quilting in a camper?
Hi Darlene yes li am 😊
Wow small quarters and you make big quilts. Great job!!!!
@@darlenemitchell4198 lol I know right lol
Hi, I am interested in starting quilting as a hobby. What's the preferred type of fabric used for quilting, or, can you use any fabric? Thank you!
Hi Cotton is preferred but you can use polycotton just don’t add steam when pressing when your building the blocks as it can distort the fabric.
But once made, medium heat is good
I also use a linen or cotton blend for table quilts/ runners etc You can experiment as you get confident with cotton blends etc for picnic blankets etc. conversely if you are making quilts for bedding cotton is good as it’s natural and maintains a good body temp washes well can handle heat when building the blocks but don’t be afraid to try different fibres as you will learn so much more and what you like working with
Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate giving you my best opinion and sharing my experience. ❤️
A double-slice layer cake. Why did you quilt without the backing fabric?
Great question ….
Because I wanted to show that you don’t have to cut the backing fabric for a QAYG you could add As a whole and create a different stitch / quilting pattern therefore eliminating adding strips on the back of the quilt which in turn looks as a normal quilt not QAYG
Where is the backing and when did it get attached. Did I miss a step?
YES Iput it on as a whole piece
here is a link to 2 other videos that shows all the details.

New Sub💙😃
Thanks for subbing welcome to my channel so happy you are here
I could never understand why QAYG is done on the batting only abd not all 3 layers at once.seems like more work and the quilting dies not show up on the back.
give it a try or look at my other QAYO VIDS TO SEE OTHER TECHNIQUE THIS IS JUST 1 OPTION
It says QAYO on your home page. I'm assuming that is a typo, am I right?
yes, typo I will correct thanks for letting me know
It turned out very nice. I think you still might have had a difficult time putting the last backing sheet on. Picking up and manuvering the whole quilt seems like a big chore to me.
Try it first
Violet to much talking
Violet that's A rude COMMENT
Your rude actually
Pierdes mucho tiempo explicando lo mismo y además las costuras hay que plancharlas y tú no lo haces, esto es una cosa que no sé cómo llamarlo
I explained a lot because I get the same questions being asked via email which you don't see, and not everything OR step is shown on camera, I ironed off camera. but hey thanks for watching try not to be so negative when you don't have all the details👍
I understand what Marga means when it looks as though some actions and explanations have not been shown. I am a beginner and I like to be shown EVERY step of the way so perhaps this wasn't for me either. I didn't find it as easy to follow as 1-2-3
