True story of a British soldier (David Thewlis) who is left behind in the war with Argentina in 1982. I don't own the copyright. Spanish subtitles mine.
Glad to see another film I've yet to see directed by Paul Greengrass. I've seen United 93 & Captain Phillips and someone uploaded most of The Theory of Flight which I watched last night/early hours of this morning.
Fantastic scene, and a great performance by David Thewlis. I drew lots of inspiration from this film, especially the scene at the firework display, for my own film about the war on my channel.
it is your duty to build up your buddies self-confidence and make him a worthwhile member of the team. every soldier is frightened in battle if he says different his a liar. the true cowards here are the bullies.
He ran away from battle. He didn't want to die. So what? It's a human fight or flight response. It's natural. You can't expect every human to choose the same outcome. If that torture scene really did happen in this "true story" then those individuals are just as robotic and emotionless as the enemy....mentally destroyed from war itself.
I served in the Armed Forces in the UK not long after, the brutality, bullying, violence and ill treatment was very real and should be remembered as a national disgrace. There’s a line in the movie that resonated with me about not expecting to have to fight. This was very true, we were young, immature, uneducated and naive. Thatchers Britain with 3.5 million unemployed left few options in the early 80s. For me as a working class lad from Manchester, it was join up or go on the dole. I was looking for a job, not some noble cause to die for. I’m now a police officer close to retirement and know only too well what PTSD is. No shame in being afraid.
My respect for every british soldier. who died on this horrible war, it sure it wasnt a walk in the park, mt longdon, tumbledon,, goose green..two sister, kent each one was a living hell,, for both sides
Sometimes there are situations in life where guilt or innocence can not be proven to complete satisfaction and this can lead to ostracism and in theory we should give the benefit of the doubt to that person as someone is innocent until proven guilty. This is what happens if that presumption is removed. It is a sad story and he really should have expected better especially from his fellow soldiers. Normally at the end of true stories they usually include a brief précis so say what happened after this part of the story ended. This time there wasn’t one which was a little disappointing but as most people know Philip Williams went onto write Summer Soldier. I have no idea what he did after this but hope he is well.
Four minutes in, wrong uniform for a Scots Guards officer, a male soldier never wears his headdress in a church, bugler clearly wasn’t a bugler, lost soldier wearing the totally wrong gear. Wtf? Made it to 7 minutes and gave up.
Irlandeses, escoceses, galeses, ingleses todos ellos forman parte del reino unido la guerra era con todos ellos, pero mandaron a pelear a los gurkas y a los hong koneses que eran colonias del reino unido en su momento
I served in the Scots Guards, i am english from Yorkshire, i was in the first battalion of the regiment, we were in Hong Kong at the time watching the Falklands war unfold, oh and we are called Guardsmen not Privates.
Rule Britannia being sung in this film. Well the lyrics are wrong should be sung as " We think we rule in Britannia, we think we rule the waves, we went over to Africa and the Caribbean, and brought back some people and made them our Slaves".
Young David Thewlis 😍😍
And not only the young😂❤
How has this avoided a copyright strike? Well, I don't mind, Saved me from having to buy the film! Also, young David Thewlis is my life
Hi, thanks for your comment. Enjoy the movie while you can!

Little did I know that Remus Lupin was an actor before returning to the life of wizardry.
a young werewolf has to earn some money somehow.

I love how for as much Deakin's platoon blames him for Johnny's injury, Deakin is the only one who actually visits him in hospital.

Philip Williams was his real name. Wrote a book called summer soldier.....I have no idea why at the end it says its ALL fiction.
Philip Williams has a walk on part in the film. He’s on the Gun Machine in the Arcades in Morecombe
Another British film good cast
Fight in the cookhouse would never be allowed to happen. Straight to jail. Live round on the pillow. RRP would be straight out..
In the 80s tho?
So did he admit to running in the end?
EXPECTO PATRONAM!
Filme 10/10, se não me engano chorei nas duas vezes que o assisti. Dito isso, as Malvinas são argentinas
That's Phil with the Pink Floyd T-Shirt on playing the video game.He scored David Thewlis a 16th of hash during filming.Fact

There doesn’t seem to be many Scottish soldiers in this, considering the regiment is supposed to be The Scots Guards! 😂

Rule Britannia being sung in this film. Well the lyrics are wrong should be sung as " We think we rule in Britannia, we think we rule the waves, we went over to Africa and the Caribbean, and brought back some people and made them our Slaves".
Cry some more.
Then we banned it
