I feel like Alastor in the finale is genuinely in shock that he almost died
Honestly, Adam and Lute deserved a full duet together rather than just a small bit.
Please keep talking about Hazbin Hotel, it's a joy to hear someone this enthusiastic about everything
I LOVE this It starts with sorry song
Love your analysis. I’m learning more about film making but I don’t know much about music. You provided a great insight
Really appreciated the analysis. Looking forward to your next video when season 2 comes out :)
Thank you for feeding us yet again 🙏
My pleasure
I don't think it's that much of a hot take about Whatever it takes, I've always found people saying it's one of the weakest songs of the season.
Out for Love, I do disagree with you on. It works, but just barely enough. The song beat itself could have been better, but I do think it gets its point across. Reassuring Vaggie that she does indeed love Charlie in spite of everything, and fighting for her is the only way she is going to win.
You didn't know, is probably one of my favorite songs of the season. It packs soi much into such a short amount of time & does it spectacularly. Emily questioning the rules of Heaven, Charlie being pissed at heaven's not even following their own morals, Sarah trying to explain it was a difficult decision that she felt had to be made, Adam & Lute's complete disgust that redemption for demons is even still being considered (plus the short few note represial of Hell is Forever).
The way the song balances all that plus the different music beats as it goes through each character, is simply amazing.
I would reverse what you said about out for love the beat is actually great ant catchy but its point is made flawed by horrible lyrics and the fact that Vaggie was literally fighting for love
Love to hear your thoughts on all these songs. I have a hard time picking favorites, but you certainly highlighted the stand-outs in this and your other video.
Live Laugh Love Jeremy Jordan
Live Laugh Love Canadian Devil.
Live Laugh Love Lucifer
Live Laugh Love Hazbin Hotel
I agree with EVERY SINGLE ONE of your opinions (great video btw, I love Hazbin Hotel songs analysis videos)
Ya that snake dudes my favorite and the look on sarhas face when he gets dropped off on her doorstep.. Lol made me go YAAA F U B
Amazing work on the video, I love your analysis videos, your voice is nentertaining and they are well written. Wish you the best of luck with the growth of your channel as it is well deserved, looking forward to your next videos, Hazbin Hotel or otherwise.
Personally I think videos on Steven Universe the Musical, Beetlejuice and Hamilton would be cool if you decide to go on the musical route of videos.
How i feel about every song (im writing this at like 1AM so this comment might give you an aneurysm)
Happy Day In Hell (great introduction to the show but a bit cheesy for my likings)
Hell Is Forever (a banger of a song that's a perfect introduction to the main villain)
Stayed Gone (Best instrumental in the entire show the singing is amazing the visuals are great and the rivalry between Alastor and Vox is really entertaining its almost a perfect song but there's one flaw it's extremely repetitive)
It Starts With Sorry (just a nice filler song)
Respectless (Velvette is honestly 😏😍 the lyrics are very intelligent and the song is just really catchy overall)
Whatever It Takes (the most polarizing song in Hazbin Hotel by far and sadly im towards the more negative side of the matter I just think that this song has no reason to be in episode 3 Carmilla can not sing in this song for some reason she sounds like a 80 year old woman and i think Zestial is overrated in this song I definitely prefer Vaggie's singing her voice sounds angelic)
Poison (Spectacular song that's all I need to say 2nd best song in the show)
Loser Baby (What do I need to say that already hasn't been said its the best song in hazbin hotel)
Hell's Greatest Dad (I don't like this song that much but that's mainly because the song is easily the most overrated in the show its still a banger though the animation is is amazing the singing is fine I guess and the duet between them is pretty cool since this random deer guy is fighting with f****** Lucifer but guys is this really one of the best songs in the show I don't think its even in my top 10)
More Than Anything (beautiful f****** song this is what Whatever It Takes should've been 3rd best song in the show)
Welcome To Heaven (just because this is the worst song in the show doesn't make it bad at all its actually pretty catchy it's like a 5/10 just mediocre)
You Didn't Know (Overrated since this song is carried by Lute and Adam I think Lute's singing alone makes it a top 5 song in the show though)
Out For Love (Carmilla sounds great in this but sounds horrible in Whatever It Takes for some reason there's a few problems I have with this song though like the fact that it adds nothing since Vaggie was basically already fighting for love and the lyrics are pretty cringey tbh also Carmilla is 😍)
Ready For This (this song is all over the place almost to a fault I don't even know how to describe it)
More Than Anything reprise: (once again just another solid filler song I slightly prefer it starts with sorry though since this song is like 3 seconds long)
Finale (this is probably the most consistently good song in the show but nothing really stands out to me which is the biggest problem I have with it personally)
How I would rank every song btw
1 Loser Baby
2 Poison
3 More Than Anything
4 Stayed Gone
5 You Didn't Know
6 Respectless
7 Hell Is Forever
8 Finale
9 Out For Love
10 Hell's Greatest Dad
11 Ready For This
12 Happy Day In Hell
13 It Starts With Sorry
14 More Than Anything (reprise)
15 Whatever It Takes
16 Welcome To Heaven
SING MORE
Really love the infos. As a musical analphabet (who loves hazbin hotel with all of his heart) I really appreaciate to learn what makes the songs special and get a new view of their awesomeness.
From "awesome songs" to "awesome songs because .." thanks to a flying walrus!
In my opinion Out for Love fails because it doesn’t fit into the narrative, since while yes Vaggie is a angel she’s never shown even a hint at fighting for vengeance it’s always been for Charlie so the song doesn’t fit what the story has set up and therefore comes out of nowhere.
Even though its a banger its purely filler
It’s called finale in Spotify
I agree that naratively Whatever it takes is not the best I really think Daphne and especially Stephanie did an amazing job with the vocals. I found myself screaming my crying heart out on "I'll spend my life beeing your partner" more than it's healthy
I love your review, I agree with u :3
Some thoughts I have on various songs (my personal oppinion, I know nothing about music or storytelling)
Whatever It takes sucks in the show. It is unessacary, unmemorable and everything it tries to tell you is already said outside of the song. I do personaly like it as a song though aside from a few lines that are out of place.
This video made me truely appreciate it starts with sorry and Welcome To Heaven, songs I disliked before, but the video made me see them in a new light. (Saint Peter did not need to make those noises though 😭)
You Didn't Know is sad in that it is a victim of the eight episode season structure. (Maybe if they didn't make Whatever It Takes there would be more room to separate the issues in You Didn't Know) I feel like You Didn't Know isn't the worst if you are familiar with the song, but I had to rewatch it to fully process the chain of events. Vaggie's reveal especially could and should have been done seperately.
Plus as stated, it being the end of the episode only makes the pacing worse.
However, the tune and some of the lyrics just hit so hard, it really motivates me to practice singing!
And the visual storytelling is impecable as stated. I especially liked Emily's eyes on her dress and halo opening at certain parts such as when she yells at Sera.
Out For Love is sort of boring visually, not really showing an interesting training sequence and it has a simmilar fate to Whatever It Takes due to its key information and points being stated before and after the song. Despite that, I can't help liking it. I would kill to have that kind of voice...
I like the repitition of certain lyrics using different tones during Ready For This. It gives a similar effect to Poison, the last lyric showing the character's inner thoughts/feelings.
More Than Anything reprise is the perfect callback in every way, and it was forgetable untill I realised what it was trying to accomplish. It shows growth and support from some of the people Charlie is close to, but it especially shows reconciliation. More Than Anything showed it between Charlie and Lucifer as they began to understand eachother and grow closer while the reprise showed (more) reconciliation between Vaggie and Charlie who had (I think) only just met privately after the events in the courtroom.
The finale did a lot in a short song, and I think it did it well. It combined a lot of characters and themes togeather without falling victim to the "You Didn't Know" effect. It was a building monage, a tribute to Sir Pentious, a hopefull message, and it set up the looming threat of the Vees for the next season. It even set up some future (and past) lore on Alastor, with some being more obvious and others you need to read between the lines to really begin to unpack. The finaly switches back in forth between styles of music and doesn't make it sound clunky. Lucifer was really the only thing that threw me off. If Charlie was just sad about her failing the hotel his reaction would make sense, but SIR PENTIOUS DIED!! That was an awful way to comfort her about it!! It did get better, but his initial first line kind of rubbed me the wrong way in the context. The finale did right everything You Didn't Know did wrong and I love that for it. Satisfying conclusion, I'm real hyped for season two!
Alastor seems like he may have a turn in his character, and it may be fir the worse. If his deal is out of the way, how is he going to try to gain control? I also wonder how his mic will get fixed. Seems like a simple question, but if it's magic? This has been my bigest question seince I saw that part.
This has to be the longest youtube comment I've ever written!
i think welcome to heaven was supposed to showcase more then just how judgemental the angels are, adam throughout the show commited most of the seven deadly sins and saint peter commenting on how "everyone is hot" shows theyre also actively hypocritical about their disdain because its not even that they have the moral highground
if this show was given a proper season im like 90% certain that they would have shown that more clearly
Here's my hot take.
More than anything (reprise) is a perfect summary of chaggie as a relationship.
Yeah, it is sweet, it is comforting, and I can even see how other people might really like it. But at the end of the day, it doesn't leave that much of an impact, and it's predictable. And why would I go back to it when there are so many better options?
Also it is just me or vaggie sounds completely different in every song?
Okay now I'm sad that you didn't mention the amazing duett of emelie and Charlie (in which they both get the high ground)
More than anything: It was the song that made me cry. But it is one of the less heard song by me.
15:35 this is absolutely becoming a tik tok sound thing.
Military song is soooooooooo true lol.... Come one come all. Travel love. Money expirence.... "Death?"..... ya but dont think about that lol.
would love to hear your thoughts on helluva boss music too
“Ser penis” “Serenus”
Thanks for this video it's sane which is surprising. There is a lack of reasonable opinions regarding hazbin Hotel.
Either the channel hates it with an insane amount of rage or the channel treats it like the second coming of hamilton
can u do vid on disco elysium. i think u will like it
could you do a video on xmen 97
FINALLY!!!! Someone else who sees why Whatever It Takes doesn't work!!!
if hell's greatest dad kept going without mimzy, it would have gotten annoying imo
Did anyone else see when Fox and Val were kissing??
Hello Flying walrus my name is Isaiah and I have something important to say to you. God loves you and like any father he wants to help you and keep you safe especially from the devil. But I am not just speaking to you about this I am also talking to your fans about this. God loves you all and he wants us all to be saved. Not just from ourselves but also from the beings that caused our wourld to be as bad as it is. Satan an his minions. For they want to manipulate, kill you an overall turn you to the side of darkness. But there is hope. God's light pierces any darkness like a star in the sky. An God is bigger especially bigger then the Devil. Do not be afraid for God's love is for evreyone. Shalom Shalom.
FINALLY someone agrees with me that Out for Love and Whatever It Takes are the worst of the season, boring and out of range/key
The best word to describe Whatever it takes is pathetic
