A 1.7km double-decker flyover from Pune-University Chowk to E-square junction, part of PMRDA's 3rd Metro line, might be completed by August 2024. Construction work began in October 2023, for 32 main pillars.

Pune's Punawale Residents are protesting against the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's plan to set up a solid waste management plant, expressing concerns about health issues and the facility's proximity to schools and hospitals. The civic body aims to acquire land from the forest department by year-end to address the growing waste management needs in the area.
Pune's Maan Mahalunge town planning scheme has obtained environmental clearance from the state's EIA authority, resolving objections about flood-prone plots. Covering 250.50 hectares, this approval will expedite the project, previously a model at the 2018 Magnetic Maharashtra event. Road construction is planned by the Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA).

In cities we need to grow more trees to control the pollution but in Punawale, there is a plan to establish a garbage depot in a forest of 22 hectares by cutting thousands of trees. Moreover, 1 lakh plus people are living there who will face health issues due to garbage depot. Hence the garbage depot should not be permitted in Punawale.

SWMP is a serious concern not only for Punawale residents but also for Tathawade, LR, marungi, Hinjewadi and Wakad residents as well. There is strong wind always flowing from west to east which will make it even worse for all the eastern side localities. Having this huge garbage depot will increase movement of garbage trucks every 5-10 min which lead to lot of pollution and garbage spillage on the roads as we all know how efficient municipalities are in handling such stuff in India. Only way to cancel this .

This swm should come in punawale only. Builders and brokers have already hyped the prices. 2bhk should not cross 40 lac at punawale if swm plant is coming. This will stop the builder and brokers for selling the property at false rate. 2nd depot should come early at punawale only, considering the capacity of moshi dumping yard.

Ideally PCMC should convert it into big park like MBR Park in Hyderabad.. KBR National Park, also known as Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park, is a vast spread of lush greenery and rich fauna located in the middle of Hyderabad city- Jubilee Hills.
▫️Established in 1994 with an aim to protect the richness and biodiversity of the area it is built on, the park is sprawled over an area of about 156 hectares in the lush lanes of Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills. The park is named after former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and is a must-visit place for walkers and joggers.

The garbage dump of 2008 should be built there only as City is running out of space and other ares will be affected if there is no space for garbage processing. And it will impact on punawale, tathawade, marunji, wakad as wind blow from West to east. And I agreed that SWM plan was in 2008 but forest dept didn't get other land for forestation so if the agreement is more than 5 years and still they didn't get land then we can say deal was almost canceled but again PCMC ministr wake up after 15 years and say we will implement it here that's nonsense. "If the SWM project is not here, then where? And Why?"
Despite knowing the fate, people have bought the properties at low costs here and now under the name of protest trying to save their properties depreciation. Its as Simple as that.
Also, the speed with which PCMC is growing, there is urgent need of new waste management projects. 20/40 km radius villages will be part of PCMC very soon and again there will be the same protest for that new place.
