10 days ago I had a perianal abscess lanced, drained & packed. 2 days later it was repacked. the packing came out about 7 days ago. There is no more pain from the wound/hole, no more bleeding but the hole is still there. It doesn't look infected or inflamed or anything of the sort, it looks normal color like the color of my skin. My main question is how long does it take for the hole to close up? It's only been 10 days since being lanced, is it supposed to be closed up by now or does this sound normal for it to still be open. It doesn't appear to be draining anything it looks dry. Sometimes when I change the gauze pad I can see some whitish fluid on the gauze pad but I think this is leftover Neosporin cream. Sometimes but rarely when sitting if I shift a certain way I might feel a slight sting but not much of anything. I just want the hole to close up.

wanted to add that it's a very small round hole, smaller than a pencil eraser. it's not a slit it's just a small round hole.

Anglynn74 This sounds normal, the remaining wound will need to heal by secondary intention. However, you should let a qualified nurse or doctor check it, ideally you would see a tissue viability nurse to advise.

I had a wound drain for two weeks and several months getting it to heal. The only thing left is redness, so how long will this redness last?

Hard to say without seeing it, but do ask a doctor to check there is not any infection.
