Would you consider this a good first boat? Just getting into kayaking and have done a bit of everything but as an older paddler won’t be doing grade 5 anytime soon.😀
Yeah I would if you can find one. I don’t think JK is making them anymore. It’s relatively stable but still fast. Another option would be the Karma Traverse.
@@adam_strachn Thanks Adam. I’m down on the south coast so I have to travel quite a distance to find any fast flowing river water. This boat looks ideal for the coastal/river conditions local to me with the odd trip out to what you’re paddling in the video. Like you say finding one is going to be tricky.
Karma held up well. I actually sold it to one of the guys in the video and he's still paddling it. The song is from The Mercury Program and I think that particular one is Sultans of El Sur.
How is the plastic thickness and quality? I recently purchased a couple of Pyranha Fushions and frankly the plastic quality and toughness compared to my awesome old Pyranha h:3 is pathetic. I cant even tie them down to a car rack without leaving dents in them.
John Greystoke I don't have any experience with Pyranha kayaks but I've been pleased with the Jackson plastic. At first pass you'd think it's pretty soft but in actual use it's really good. I know the RG has a second layer over the bottom to help with running over rocks and I think several of their other white water boats do too.

Still paddling the karma rg? How is it to paddle? How does it handle flat waters?
Sold that particular RG with plans to buy another one next year. Handles flat water extremely well; that’s the majority of what I paddle.
Hows the Karma holding up for you? Also whats the song at the end of your video? I really like it. Thanks

Second layer over the bottom sounds perfect, Thanks I'll be checking them out asap.
