MY GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY VLOG đ©đ·đ°
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 6. 06. 2024
- I underwent Gastric Sleeve Surgery on 14th March 2018 at Mercy Ascot Hospital in New Zealand with Dr. Jon Morrow.
This is a casual vlog style video I took on my phone at the times I had the opportunity and felt well enough to pull out a camera. I had a lot of people asking me pre-surgery if I could share some of my experience and so I tried to capture as much as I could while still prioritising my recovery.
There were lots of struggles throughout this 3 day stay post op surgery which I will elaborate on in a future video about my surgery including reference photos my boyfriend took when I was sick/passed out/unwell.

You are honestly gorgeous! Iâm so glad things went smoothly for you! Iâm getting gastric sleeve this summer, and Iâm very excited.
it's crazy how it differs surgeon to surgeon, here in England you'd never be allowed to have encapsulated medicine straight after a bypass or sleeve. You definitely wouldn't be having pureed food in hospital, it's liquids for 2 weeks! I'm cringing at the thought of anything different, but I hope your recovery is quick x
I think it's more a country thing as all the other people I know from New Zealand have the same process - liquid/puree diet for the first 3 weeks, followed by 3 weeks of soft food and then by 6 weeks should be on solids. All small portions of course but it's suppose to help you out in the long run. Definitely didn't enjoy the capsule medication but in saying that, having them in hospital made it so much easier to deal with them once I got home and all other medications moving forward. Thanks so much! Definitely feeling much better now âš
omg i'm in England and i'm seriously considering going for a gastric sleeve
I'm still waiting on a date (in the USA!) but my surgeon says he does a 2 week liquid, 2 week pureed, and then 2 week very soft, and then back to solids at 6 weeks! it's so neat to see the different ways surgeons tackle recovery!
Olivia Hartley not my Doctor. Iâm in the USA, my first was clear Liquids now I am on two more weeks of full liquids. Then two weeks of purĂ©e. Then three weeks of Soft. Then I can have real food BUT!!!! only adding 1 new food a day. Her doctor is on some shit lol. Also as for Medication itâs all supposed to be liquid or chewable for the first six months. No tablets capsules have to be approved.
this is the same for me, with the 2 weeks, for each type of consistency. I go for surgery in 12 days now. So glad I watched this video !

You look REALLY great to be 12 hrs out of surgery! đđđ
We need an updated vlog đ
Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!
Awesome video! You look gorgeous!!
nutrient dense foods are grown on farms that focus on soil health and who apply regenerative farming principles
I know this was 4 years ago but howâd you get the cute pajamas on with the iv in your hand?
Are you going to be posting an update?
Mine was in 5may đđ» share with us ur experience with the food and stuff I'm waiting for u đđ
I went to my first appointment last week and am super exited/nervous... did your insurance pay for your surgery because I donât think mine is but Iâm gonna get it with or without it
Kookie I didnât have health insurance when getting this surgery so I just paid for it out of my own pocket. Most insurance companies require 3 years of being with them before being able to contribute and then only contribute a percentage. How exciting for you! Itâs such a life changing surgery âșïž
You wouldnât be able to eat that much food so fast after surgery in America. They are pretty strict about what is ingested after surgery.
AND... you would not be permitted to take those large pills.
What led you this procedure?
Going in in 9 days.. so nervous!
Please please please do some more videos đ€
You have me very excited to get my surgery!!!! You are very beautiful & We are about the same size, and I've seen your more current videos, you look like a super model OMG!!!!!đđđđđ„°đđł

Was it difficult or painful to move or walk?
jessica daniel Iâm 3 weeks post op, I had no pain or problems moving after op in fact just a week post op I was walk 10 kms for the day.
Hi beautiful please make another video so we can see your results
In America it's liquid for 3 weeks first...this is interesting lol
Sherae Guerrero The purpose is to reduce the size of the liver prior to surgery so that it won't be in the way so much.
Check her instagramâ€
In the US you'd have an IV and be on liquids only.
Really, really
they sent me home the next day.It seems like women have more post op problem then the men from wha i have seen.
O
Youâre beautiful youâre gonna have all the guys lol
She sounds like Rebel Wilson lol
is anyone else cringing every time she slurps that soup and not only because of the noise but because of all the air she's taking in that has got to hurt like hell
đ
I know how it feels to try to swallow a pill itâs sucks đ€ź
Oh those kissable cracked lips! :D
Sheesh sis you look like you didnât even need the sleeve. I feel disrespected as an overweight woman lol
Damn I thought you lost the weight naturally :(
Youâre so skinny why did you do that
Omg your size 18 to 20, your not that big to go through this life changing surgery. Please why would you do this to yourself? You are so young and beautiful. I can only think that you do not see or realize how beautiful you are. Unless you have a serious health condition I can not see why a Dr would perform the surgery. I wish you the very best. Please learn to love yourself with any imperfections.
Vegas Survivor Being morbidly obese is a serious health condition and with a BMI of 42 and my weight at over 125 kilos it was definitely the right choice for me. Beauty has absolutely nothing to do with it nor does loving myself which I 100% have done at every size Iâve been at this. My decision to have this surgery was 100% about my health and making sure I could live my best life without any serious health conditions in my future due to my weight.
Morbidly obese, meaning you at risk of dying due to be so much overweight. Sorry, you were NOT morbidly obsese. You are too young to have made such life changing decision to have half your stomach hacked in half and removed. All I can say is. Shame in the doctor that was willing to perform the surgery. Money hungry surgeon.. Also laughing right now at your video where your complaining of dry lips. Lol do you even see where that might be just a tad bit ridiculous. Lol
Vegas Survivor Why wait until you have a heart disease? Why wait until you canât move? Why wait until itâs too late? She made the right decision and BECAUSE she is so young itâs even better, she can now have better experiences and the chances for posible major diseases are gone now. And just to piss you off I am 18 and with a BMI of 40 and getting this surgery. If choosing having a great long life is a regrettable decision to you then donât do the surgery but donât try to put other down for making a good decision that is gonna change their lives.
Vegas Survivor Well luckily itâs my life and my choices and not yours. I am medically classed as morbidly obese regardless of whether you think so or not. The only thing I find ridiculous is that youâre still watching my video despite having such negative comments đ
Kookie Best of luck for your surgery! I know that itâs one of the best decisions I made and feel so fortunate to have done it early in so that I can live a fulfilled and healthy life for many years to come đ
Iâve got my consultation with the same doctor next week through DWLS! đ„č Iâm so excited, but just really hoping Iâm given the green light during my consultation.
