This is what it takes to be a Fide Master · Road to GM, Game 330

- I faced FM Cupic in round 3, and, I have to say, I have seldom been more impressed with my opponent's technique, ideas, and determination. He played a beautiful game, weakening my position inch by inch, waiting for me to make mistakes, and he went on to outplay me from a totally equal position to win convincingly. This is what it takes to become a Fide Master!

8:39 lol a4 is such a classic engine move. Ignore everything and just push a pawn that's miles away from all the action
I really hope this guy becomes a GM or at least an IM someday. It would really motivate a lot of adult improvers if he did it.
It looks from this tournament that we're seeing a very improved version of Stjepan. He'll probably make very rapid gains towards 2100 this year.
At what cost? What is his training schedule? Does he has a normal job or is he dedicating his entire time towards chess?
â@@christian7054 it's worth listening to his appearance on perpetual chess podcast... I'll just say he's insanely disciplined!
@@christian7054 he is full time chess player
Unfortunately I don't it's possible for him to become IM or GM
Chessbook has been an absolute godsend since I started using it.
yes, I'm glad he finally got a sponsor & it's even such a nice and useful one! c:
Do you guys suggest the Classic Version or is the Premium Version so much better that it is Worth 60⏠per year??
@@miomio7864 I have the premium version because I very quickly got up to 200 moves.
think it depends on how much repertoire you want to put on there@@miomio7864
Hey! Chessbook dev here, think there might be confusion around the plans: thereâs only a free tier and a paid tier, you can just choose to pay monthly or yearly. Yearly gives you a 20% discount compared to paying monthly for a year
@9:35 nf5 looks like it hold his position together. nf5 rf1 kf6 rf4 rc8 looks ok for black
amazing game
i dont mind draw offers. but yea, they shouldnt be made while clearly loosing in a serious game and also only occasionally. repeatedly asking is rude. once declined, my opponent knows what i want, so he has to offer it back in order to be eventually settled. or something needs have happened on the board or bco significant time progress. i would say once per 20 moves or once per hour
Hvala na komplimentu! đ«
Chessbook seems pretty cool! I'll try it
Chessbook is probably the single greatest tool for improvement in my 2 year chess journey. Thank you so much Stepjan!
11:14 if you'd played Kf2, doesn't he have ...Rxc3? With...Ne4+
Knight on g3 controls e4
Right but black has 2 knights attacking, meaning the king could get double slapped in this line
â@@daturadubs7423oh yeah I didn't see that lol, I don't know what the continuation is then, white can't get close of the g pawn too because the knight would cover g2 as well
Yes but it doesnât win anything, itâs just a drawing endgame
1968? Weren't you like 2100 ?
Isnât it bad etiquette to offer a draw to a higher rated opponent in a position like this?
White is doing fine so it shouldn't be. Still idk why black would ever lose rating and settle for a draw.
for me , its always bad etiquette to offer a draw, especially when you loose !
Considering rating in this is wrong. Nobody has to think of themselves as being inferior because of a number. It's an offer; it costs nothing to reject.
@@prabhatkiranmukherje itâs a waste of time since the opponent will surely decline
@@nobodybuddy2604 itâs normal for white to be âfineâ out of the opening, this doesnât mean black canât try something
It looks like pure calculation is the only way to understand why c4 doesn't work. At least, I can't think of a principled reason to avoid it. It looks natural. Kf2 also looks natural until you see Rxc3, when it looks bad, but Stockfish reveals further calculation proves a draw.
This is all too much. I have to admit, I hate calculation.
First
fuck i wrote a long text but accidentaly took "cancel". Not gonna write that again. See you on the next video Step haha :D
now i am curious lol
Was it a love note?
Being happy with the draw is not the mindset which gets you to gm title.
