- Zoey Deutch has been busy carving her own path in this industry for years now, and it’s something special. Not only has she racked up credits that highlight her greatest strengths while also showing off her range in front of the lens, but she’s also put a considerable about of time into building her behind-the-scenes resume as well. In fact, her third film serving as a producer is now available to stream on Hulu. It’s Not Okay.
Deutch also stars in the film as Danni Sanders. When the movie begins, Danni’s having a rough go of it in a number of respects. She’s an aspiring writer who isn’t really excelling at the craft, she’s got no social life, and she’s struggling to build a social media presence. Desperate to make some improvements online, Danni decides to pretend she’s been sent on a trip to Paris, Photoshopping photos from her Brooklyn apartment to gain Instagram followers. Perhaps it can be considered a somewhat harmless lie until Paris suffers an attack and Danni is labeled a hero when she “returns." Rather than fess up and admit the truth, Danni gets caught up in finally having an audience, and continues to present herself as an influencer, advocate, and survivor.
It’s a bold film that demands everyone involved, but especially Deutch, go full force in depicting this despicable spiral of lies. How exactly does one build the skillset, courage, and know-how to jump into such a project as a producer and a headliner? That’s exactly what we covered with Deutch on a brand new episode of Collider Ladies Night.
Check out this conversation to hear all about Deutch's experience overcoming Vampire Academy's disappointing reception, the very different but equally memorable experiences she had working with Mark Rylance on The Outfit and Jesse Eisenberg on Zombieland: Double Tap, what her primary goals are as a producer, and so much more!

What big franchise would you like to see Zoey in? Sound off here!
Horror. She looks like she would be good in a texas chainsaw massacre film
Ooh I would love to see her in the Scream franchise! That would be so ICONIC. 💙
Alien
DC SUPERGIRL!
I'd like to see her play Kitty Pryde in the X-Men if the MCU ever recasted and brought them in, which I honestly hope they don't, a lot of the prequel actors I feel like were really good at portraying their characters i.e. James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff etc.
Actually I really enjoyed watching vampire academy when I was younger and I loved Zoe in it. ❤
I happen to like the Vampire Academy movie and Zoey is the mein reason for that her energy carried that movie!
Zoey is truly my favorite actress of like the last five years! So many impressive performances and stories at such a young age, Im so surprised she's not talked about more.
VA is how I know Zoey and she will be forever fitting to be the best Rose Hathaway, so despite the box office I think it really opens up audience for her. Zoey did a really good job and hopefully she knows that!!
The way Perri crafts her questions is truly a work of art. It's a perfect blend of asking meaningful important questions, while being positive and respectful. The way she worded that Vampire Academy question just floored me. She is so dang good at her job.
It's like watching old friends catching up! That's one of the best things about watching Ladies Night, we learn more about the woman behind the persona.
great job perri! would love to see zoey and anna kendrick work together, they have very similar energy
Zoey Deutch is Gorgeous
Big franchises like the MCU are an actor's prison. They'll make money, sure, but I'd rather see actors in amazing roles than being a boring superhero. Zoey doesn't need that. She is so brilliant.
How cool is perri with that outfit 😍💪😎
Great video.😀
Yes! Love This movie! Not going to spoil but there’s a joke involving a US state that is pure 😂. Zoey does a great job. And Perri U as always do a great job with your interviews.
First saw Zoey in Zombieland 2 (good movie!) & ever since had a feeling she’d get in major franchise soon
Such a good vid love her
Zoey Deutch or Elle Fanning for Supergirl!
Beautiful woman and actress zoey deutch ❤
for the mcu i dont know enough characters, especially unannounced ones, to suggest a lead role that she deserves. but from what's announced i think she'd fit best in a spiderman or fantastic 4 movie. i'd have her be something like black cat, with the dynamic of the "older" love interest/superhero or maybe more like a big sis/mentor for this new phase of loner spiderman. if gotg got a shake up with the cast, which i actually hope it doesn't lmao, i could see her fitting in there. or x-men. i'd just prefer she had a big recurring role in the movies first, then tv second
🙌
I WNAT HER TO TALK ABT THE NEW VA
Her shirt hahah
❤️❤️❤️🇧🇷❤️❤️❤️
They should have hired Zoey for the Vampire Academy series. She put so much life to the character and movie. The series is so boring.
I didn't find Danni totally unlikeable. Indeed, she felt like a less bad and likeable Anna Sorokin.
Vampire academy was badly written and future movies would be no where like the books they made same mistakes eragon did
The books were absolutely amazing, I gobbled up every single one.. And that's the problem with turning books into movies, if it's not done right then the fans won't show up.
The new tv show also looks terrible...
The books are awesome
