    Very good looking water. I like using wet flies and dries, exciting. Also I use barbless hooks, once I get the fish to the bank I loosen the tension and the fish releases itself. Again another entertaining video!

    Loved it George, great to see our little streams in such fine form, there's no end to the sport to be had for those that want it.

    Great video George...glad you enjoyed your return visit to the beautiful brook...your videos and tips are helping me enjoy upstream nymphing without indicators and small nymphs ...a simple set up but very engaging way to fish for wild fish...thanks for sharing

    Lovely looking steam George. Here in the North of England we've had a very slow start. Good fly about but the trout don't appear to have switched on to them just yet. At least you managed a few. Well done

    Lovely bit of fishing and a great little river .What was the length of your leader and how many flies did you have on .

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  Před rokem +1

      Leader is typically 12 feet long,almost always a single nymph,very occasionally two.

    Lovely river and interesting video - but handling fish without wetting your hands is setting a bad example.

    Hi George, very nice, great fishing, do you ever use the sheep's wool indicator when nymphing?

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  Před rokem +1

      I don't use indicators as a rule, imo they prevent you from developing into the best you can be as a nymph angler, and besides that they scare the sh1t out of spooky fish.

    I love Ireland. It’s been far too long since my last visit. But it is a lovely country.

    That beats Euronymphing any day. I had 2 great days with wets at the weekend on my local small river similar to that, but similar it will drop like mad now with no rain and then it's onto the river Nore. What nymphs had you on? Were they weighted

      I was using my twinwire nymphs,check the channel for a vid all about them.

  • @lalilulelo1818
    @lalilulelo1818 Před rokem

    Well done. Your line is not always tense and there is no indicator, so how do you know there is a fish?

  • @Ger886

    Really enjoyable video George, those twin wire nymphs are deadly Do you ever use power gum as a sighter at the end of the fly line?

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  Před rokem +1

      I sometimes use a hi vis length of nylon between flyline and leader.

    What wet fly patterns do you suggest for this time of year?

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  Před rokem

      Any soft hackle fly in the size 14-12 size will get you fish,snipe & purple,partridge & orange or yellow,waterhen bloa,grouse and orange for example.
