    I tried the key hole app as a test and of course I had to re-watch your video. I think I have the same bit as you but I got the depth of cut wrong. It would have worked anyway but I'm glad I watched again. You are the best!

    I love your videos. I've had my xcarve for years, never really used it to its potential. Recently upgraded the size and started making som small signs for family. Your videos are the best, thanks!

    Ha! This is a great video. I thought I had seen it before and watched it again yesterday to use my keyhole bit on a sign. Apparently I hadn't watched it all the way through. Missed one of the KEY parts. Changing the depth of cut. I just got a regular slot. Came back to find out what I missed... DUH! I guess it worked out. I actually had my sign upside down anyways. So I can go back and add the right ones now.

    Interesting, I have to explore if my WNCNC can be program for the keyhole. I use my keyhole horizontally. For trophy and pictures sometimes things aren't balanced. Thanks for the idea. Ray (retArmy)

      Thank you for your comments. I hope that you can get a keyhole program for your CNC. It is so much easier than doing it by hand using a jig and a router.

    Great Video!! Is there a way I can enter the keyhole bit? It doesn't appear to be an option. Thank you Phil. I certainly do appreciate all that you do maestro!!!!

      Thank you very much. Easel now has the ability to add bits but it is not all inclusive. I still do not believe that you can enter that bit.

    Loved the video, was wondering when you cut 2 slots you set the xy to corner with the 2 slots so how do you put down the board and get the slots in the correct position

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety

      Follow the app. When you bring it into easel you will see where the slots will cut. You can move the cut to where you want it to be in relation to the x,y point

    It almost worked on my x carve but the keyhole bit did not plunge, it dropped in a little, cut forward and backwards, dropped again, cut forward and backward, repeat. What am I doing wrong? The bit needs to plunge and then move . And why doesn't easel have a keyhole bit?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 2 lety

      You have to have the depth of cut the same as the depth per pass. Please review the video. The bit will plunge to full depth then make the keyhole and then retract

    I can not get this to work idk what I’m doing wrong. Do you have to probe the keyhole bit like you would all the other before a cut? I did and it cut my project as it jogged to location where I the keyhole slot. Everything else on easel is easy and able to manage but this keyhole generator is getting the beat of me. Please help

    How does this work for alignment when you have to put it on the back of a project. The example i am referring to is i have a #12 for my son. I want to use the keyhole bit to put the keyhole in the upper third as you said. How do you do keyhole placement on a flipped project in Easel?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety

      It is a new project. I assume the #12 us cut out. Use the Easel app for the keyhole for one slot. Measure on the back side exactly where you want it and carve each keyhole one at a time.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you very much. First, look at the simulation. My guess is that you have a very shallow depth per pass. Determine how deep you need to go. It should be approximately .29 inches. The next thing you need to do is go to the custom setting and change the depth per pass to .29 inches. That way you will cut the keyhole in one pass.

    Is it possible to use a similar bit to carve t slots along a path without the machine just coming up wherever?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety

      Yes, use a router table with stop blocks and you can make the same cut.

  • @edfritsch5950

    For some reason I am having issues with my initial plunge when it enters the material. I have gone into my cut settings and made it the same as my depth on my depth per pass but it just seems to take off about an 1/8 off at a time. Can you tell what I am doing wrong? I am sure it is something very simple but I am missing it somehow. Thx in advance

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety

      If you are using the Easel app you must set the depth in the app for example .25" then in the cut settings you must set the depth of cut at .25. Look at the preview and make sure that you do not have multiple passes. It should only show one.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop

      Use a keyhole bit. It has a 1/4" shank. The setting were the stock settings in Easel. I believe it was set for birch plywood.

    How do you put the bit into easel?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 4 lety

      The collet holds the bit in place. When using the 1/8" bit I have a collet adapter that goes in first and then the bit.
