Of course, when I say drum sander I really mean spindle sander because I am a bloke that makes mistakes on a pretty regular basis. 🤦♂️ Please forgive the human-ness. -Rod

What a great inspiration. I built a smaller model and yes, you are right. It's easy to build and it works like a dream. Thanks
I wish you could more videos. You do a great job of explaining everything and your videos are well produced. Nice job!
Rod, your pride does show in everything you do. That is a fantastic build.
I love the way you addapted it to your needs! Verry nicely done! I am going to build one upcomming summer and add the improvements you suggest on the end of the video. You will get a picture ;)
The best step by step "How to build video" I have ever seen on CZcams. 👍👍👍 I hope you make more videos like this, of course for different machines.
Awesome build! Nice upgrades, too. Will definitely add this to the 'to do' list. Thanks for sharing the video. Looking forward to your future builds.
That drum sander conversion is a nice idea. Lots of adjustments allows you to always keep the table square to the roller. Looks like you'll need to make version 2 for all your other modifications and add-ons.
That was the BEST BUILD video I have seen yet, I have watched a lot of then and look forward two video 2 and 3.
The way you walk through the build step by step, how you did it and why you would make the changes, was so well spoken and to the point..
Thanks
I love everything about this video and the build video. The editing is well done, love the little effect sounds and graphic inserts. it's well thought out and easy to follow. it is well paced, with clear sound. The two things that are a little annoying are the music is slightly too loud at certain points and there is no new video for 7 months. Would love to see more DIY tool builds like this.
Excellent stuff.
Thanks for sharing and explaining. This is the diy video i searched for. I will make one too with the spindle sander on top. Wish me luck. Best regards from Austria.
Wow! Really? Send me a picture when you are finished!
Did you ever get around to building it? I would be curious to see some pictures or video..
Nicely Done Rod, Good to see you back!
As said below, I wish you did more videos. You do an amazing job not only in the building, but also in the explanation.
Thanks for sharing.
Very cool! Nice to see your back, enjoy your videos.
Awesome presentation
Awsome you`re back!
Pana, you stepped up and took it to the next level. be proud of your accomplishments. Weppaaaa👊
Very impressive machine. I'm tempted to build one just because it is so impressive, but the fact is, I don't need one. But a beautiful build. Your paint job looks quite fine on camera, which doesn't really show the brush strokes you see. I love the colour choices. So all in all, bravo. Great work. Now... tell me how to build a machine that would sand a whole sheet of plywood, like a thickness planer but for sanding. That's something I could be tempted to make. Just tempted, mind you. That would be a huge machine for my tiny workshop to accommodate.
Amazing detail
For Gripe #2 - just make another table !
On Camera on my 22" monitor here the paint job just looks snazzy!
Hoping to see more amazing vids from your shop - they are worth the wait!
Freaking awesome Rod!
Very nice design Rod! I was just thinking exactly what you said about the drum sander. I may build this and incorporate your ideas and possibly deign a way to incorporate an oscillating feature to the spindle sander portion. It might be easier to just make the drum portion swap out with the oscillating spindle module. I believe I’ve seen this oscillating feature in some of Izzy Swans or John Heisz’s deigns.
great narration to this video.
My first time seeing your video and I have one thing to say ! EXCELLENT!!!
I'm actually going to build this spindle sander. I hear you on your cry on your expandable sanding capabilities. I'll try to apply such capabilities. You might hear from me if I get stuck.
Please let me know. I wish you the best of luck! Thanks for watching
love that one :)
Regarding "gripe #2": what if you make an angled platform that can go in the t- track? It doesn't seem to fared to make a couple "common"angles.
Regarding "gripe #3": I don't see any flaws in the painting. In fact, I think it looks amazing and more professional (less homemade), so you don't need to beat yourself up with it.
You should rebuild it the way you want it with the different drum sizes.
Yes, I realy like this project,i saw first video of this sender almost 20 times already. I just build this tipe of sender and I realy approciate your first and right now second video too. Very thanks. You explained almost everything, but, I hope my last question is ,, How RPM has your motor??? I think,it could be about 1400 per minut. Please answer me this important question. I will send pictures, when job will be done, Big thanks Marek from Slovakia.
perfect
The other option i thought of is you could use a variable drive motor so you can control the speed, especially if you have spindle sanders.
Rod, while watching your other videos yesterday, I kept thinking that if I build one, I'd want to be able to use small sanding drums above. What level of effort would it take to replace your current drive rod? I wonder if roll pins could be used in place of epoxying rods in place on the drive roller which would allow easier modifications/component replacements.
I also, thought cubbies and/or drawers at the bottom might be nice to store spare belts, small jigs, etc., perhaps 12-18" tall, leaving plenty of room for the hand wheel.
Great set of videos, thanks for sharing. If I can figure out where to store such a beasty in my garage and/or shorten it down a bit to make it easier to fit, I'll add this to my long to-do list.
All great ideas. The drive roller is easy to replace. I’d have to make another one. They are so easy to make the only problem I have is lack of time to tinker and experiment with different drum tables, with vacuum hook ups, and all that jazz. Time to tinker is my biggest obstacle. As it is I didn’t have time to install a vacuum hook-up to the drum table (the long right side).
I didn't know "hurrly" was a word...lol
I like your additional upgrades, but I was thinking of another one while watching this video. Would it be possible to leave the spindle sander table on and modify the dust shroud to fit around it when not in use? I guess I'm lazy and don't want to have to take it off and on. I have about 4-5 other projects lined up atm, but this is going on my list.
Great build. (Pardon my english, I am a dyselectic Norwegian) I am wondering, if you place an awl (center marker thingy) on top of the spinning driving shaft, would it center itselve? If so you could make an perfectly centered hole, tap it and mount an extension shaft (epoxying the treaded rod inside if need be). You would then have a driving shaft for different spindels. Dust extraction seems like it could be made with an easy cover and let the existing system draw dust down through the gap for changing belts.
Not bad thinking, my Norwegian friend, not bad at all. You must have a mind for engineering! Thank for watching.

Beautiful build great job but an oscillating feature is needed,
Just out of curiosity. I noticed the switch you used is different from what the original plans are. From what I saw on the wiring diagram they had the ground wire on top. Where did you put yours at on the switch you used?
Why, "A limited time only"?
hello
do you still sell this diy plan?
i would like to buy it from you
