      @Tripjoy Paul Hello Tripjoy. I don't know what he told you "personally" as his comment seems deleted. But one comment he made was "only possible for Swamiji to make such a resounding statement" which definitely seems like an honorary statement for Swamiji. I don't think he meant to demean Swamiji in anyway.
      By the way, I would like to tell you that I completely agree with your saying that Swamiji acquired that kind of purity and immense possibility by semen retention. Even the master(Sri Ramakrishna) had to clarify to his other disciples why he treated Naren so dearly. It's because he knew that the impact his teachings would bring to Naren's life would be far greater than anyone else's.

      The only thing that is appearing to stop you from enlightenment/self-realization/eternal life/knowing yourself to be unconditional love is identification with thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences instead of being aware of being aware and knowing yourself to be that unconditional love pure consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences appear but are not inherently one with you; they are an expression of unconditional love; you are that infinite that is expressing itself as suffering/pleasure but inherently you are neither; you are that nothing/unconditional love/pure consciousness in which they are appear and by which they are perceived;
      Suffering/pleasure comes and goes; there is an awareness that is aware of them coming and going; that you are; remember and know what you are; never identify with anything that is appearing within you; since it appears within you; it can't be you; you are that in which it appears. When you abide as that in which it appears instead of identifying; nothing has a grip on you; if anything comes; it quickly goes; like clouds passing; only if you identify as a cloud then it will appear as if the cloud is here for longer than it is originally supposed to; if you simply rest as the awareness and do not identify; it will quickly dissolve; be unconditional love by being aware of being aware; this is the highest; this is what you are seeking in absolutely everything else; you are seeking yourself; you are seeking unconditional love; but you are looking outside of yourself; instead of being aware that you already are unconditional love.       The only thing that is appearing to stop you from enlightenment/self-realization/eternal life/knowing yourself to be unconditional love is identification with thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences instead of being aware of being aware and knowing yourself to be that unconditional love pure consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences appear but are not inherently one with you; they are an expression of unconditional love; you are that infinite that is expressing itself as suffering/pleasure but inherently you are neither; you are that nothing/unconditional love/pure consciousness in which they are appear and by which they are perceived;
      Suffering/pleasure comes and goes; there is an awareness that is aware of them coming and going; that you are; remember and know what you are; never identify with anything that is appearing within you; since it appears within you; it can't be you; you are that in which it appears. When you abide as that in which it appears instead of identifying; nothing has a grip on you; if anything comes; it quickly goes; like clouds passing; only if you identify as a cloud then it will appear as if the cloud is here for longer than it is originally supposed to; if you simply rest as the awareness and do not identify; it will quickly dissolve; be unconditional love by being aware of being aware; this is the highest; this is what you are seeking in absolutely everything else; you are seeking yourself; you are seeking unconditional love; but you are looking outside of yourself; instead of being aware that you already are unconditional love. Love love

    The version of the encounter that I learnt as a child was different. Vivekananda asks, "Can you *see* God?", which is significantly different from "Can you prove there is God" as recounted here. The former is experiential while the latter a seed for an intellectual debate.
    Ramakrishna's response was, "I can see Him as clearly as I can see you, and I can show Him to you if you would like", which shook Vivekananda as it was a very different response from what he heard from many other teachers of spirituality of his time, to whom he had asked the same question.

    There is a correction. He died at the age of 39 and NOT 32.
    I remember because he predicted his death 10 years in advance. He didn't see a need to preserve the physical body and had been always saying to his students that he has no wish to reach 40 years age and that he will pass away just before he reach 40. And that is exactly what happened. He died while doing meditation in his room, and some say it is maha samadhi.
    From Wikipedia -
    On 4 July 1902 (the day of his death), Vivekananda awoke early, went to the monastery at Belur Math and meditated for three hours. He taught Shukla-Yajur-Veda, Sanskrit grammar and the philosophy of yoga to pupil. At 7:00 pm Vivekananda went to his room, asking not to be disturbed; he died at 9:20 p.m. while meditating. According to his disciples, Vivekananda attained mahasamādhi; the rupture of a blood vessel in his brain was reported as a possible cause of death. His disciples believed that the rupture was due to his brahmarandhra (an opening in the crown of his head) being pierced when he attained mahasamādhi. Vivekananda fulfilled his prophecy that he would not live forty years. He was cremated on a sandalwood funeral pyre on the bank of the Ganga in Belur, opposite where Ramakrishna was cremated sixteen years earlier.

    “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”
    - Swami Vivekananda

    I was studied and took the hostel facility (2000-2005) in Ramakrishna Mission. I met some of the great monks. Their thinking about the life is completely wonderful which everyone wish to, in modern days.

    Knowing RamKrishna and Sarada Maa changed my life. Got it from my mother, who is a devotee herself. And then I took my Diksha. The ways and norms are so liberating and so peaceful, more liberating than I have ever been. Om Ramkrishna-Sarada-e Namah! 🙏🤗 The background music being the Prayer sangeet, is so calming.
