- Twiggs Lyndon crammed a lot of life in his few short years. He worked with Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge and many other R&B stars during the 1960s. In the seventies, Twiggs was on the road with the Allman Brothers Band during their heyday. Both the ABB and the Dixie Dregs, whom he later worked with, thought enough of Twiggs to put his picture on the back of their album covers. The Dregs even wrote a song dedicated to Twiggs after his tragic death. In part one of our interview with his two surviving brothers, John and A.J., Twiggs’ dedication, creativity, and road activities are discussed.
Note - please pardon the reverbiness of the recording! We normally produce our videos in the SRI worldwide headquarters where audio is usually not a major issue. However, we had a small (but wonderful) audience for this particular shoot and we moved to a much bigger room, which meant more reverb in the sound recording than we anticipated.

What a great incite into the early days of the ABB..Thanks for posting.🍄
This ties together the evolution of Capricorn music in a way that makes it easy to understand. I was glad to hear my that my Uncle Jerry Martin credited for building the Grand Piano equipment cage. He also built most of the motorcycles for the band and crew. Jerry was the 1/2 brother of ARS singer Ronnie Hammond. Jerry was such a good welder he was hired to weld together the nuclear reactor at Juliette Ga.
This is such a cool channel! Thanks for all the content, Chris!
Thanks Chris and SRI
I love these stories. I have read all the books but this is just next level. 🍄🍑✌️
Thank you for these conversations Chris. I know that Twiggs had one of Duane's guitars and eventually the Lyndon family gave it to Duane's daughter, any chance of getting the story behind that?
Stay tuned for Part Two coming later this week!
How can we get to see some of the episodes being recorded in person?
Such a great conversation. Chris has a terrific style to bring these hidden gems to the forefront!
It amazes me how band groupies and hangers on become local celebrities. Outside of Macon no one has ever heard of him.
They fans know of them though, an they become part of the greater 'mythology' of the artist.
Never knew about Twiggs pre-Allman career.
