Great refresher! I'm a pharmacist and I'm studying for a geriatric board certification
I think taurine may be the ideal natural anticoagulant. It increases prothrombin clotting time significantly without bleeding or side effects, while also being a nutrient.
Given that the popular thinner are Xa inhibitors, which may be extremely dangerous simply because if there's inhibited Xa, over time like with everything else the body compensates, so would ramp up Xa production. So now, if you missed a dose or bled and had to use a reversal agent, you'd be at high risk of thromboembolism and stroke, which is not something that you had before. Sounds like you would also have to taper them carefully, which is prob not in the vocabulary for bloodthinners.
Thank you so much for this video! I am a college student, and this video helped me a lot to study for my curricular unit, I have an exam in a month or so.
really helpful. Thanks. As you have immense experience in ER , if you can share a cases(s) as examples for junior doctors in this way we will form vivid image of the example in our mind and that really sticks and automatically comes in mind in BUSY ER.
