    Today we're doing thing a bit differently! This is the first of a small series of Warcraft 3 guides centered around decision making! In this first installment we're answering a dreaded question: When to expand?!

    Welcome, to the road of probably asking the most asked question in future: Asking Grubby to do a FFA Friday, on day 117. :)

    Your guides are second to none. Please keep making them. They really help me. I have never been good at RTS but I love the genre. I like when you describe your thought process behind choices and what questions to ask yourself in order to know where you stand in the game.
    If you see this, please do a "Art of War" guide, delving deep in different strategy, their strengths, weaknesses, how to build them, play them, think them. (Ex: BM and raiders hit and run style, or tower rushes)

    My prayers have been answered. FINALLY a good guide on how and when to expand. So good that you mentioned every race instead of just your main one. Also the Outro part is very nice - making active decisions rather than "just doing it". I look forward to other episodes of this series! Good job, Grubby & Team!

    This is fantastic, thanks Grubby! Request for future episode: Micro in battles, which units to target first, always focus fire or attack move, etc..

    Grubby I'm so glad you did this.
    Your analytical skills are awesome and it's so nice to dive deep into the game.

    Thanks a ton! Very interesting point that you have an easier time evaluating you decisions when they are motivated than when they are random

    Fantastic guide! I’ll be applying those strategies. I’ve been contemplating coming back to my night elf race! If I can suggest for future guides: how to use items effectively and quickly (use mouse or key binds?) and how to manage unit key binds. Keep those going it’s fantastic!

    As a high diamond/adept level player, the issue of when to expand or not is one of those issues that separates the true seasoned pro from a player who is just a very strong ladder player. It's one of those issues that "makes or breaks" a game. Myself, I have lost a lot of games both due to losing resources from expanding that would have been better spent on units, as well as from NOT expanding and then getting curb stomped by an enemy with an 80 food army with full upgrades. Very interesting watch from the grandmaster. Thanks, Grub.

  • @bitronic1

    Well... I had tons of opportunities to expand previously, but I kept producing catapults (the 2 door convertible ones) and now I can't even afford a Tier 1 expansion (condominium) even in the suburbs, let alone a Tier 3 (detached house) near the city center.

  • @diegogarcia-tu5xm
    @diegogarcia-tu5xm Před 2 lety

    Hi, i think there is a timing you particularly know when to expand, over all these mentioned hints. I have seen you defeating Happy without you both having an advantage yet over the other, just executing it thanks to timing and to taking the risk to win the incoming fight. It would be great to hear you explaining this deeply. Ty

    Excellent video Grubby! Any chance on the future for a video explaining a bit the tech upgrades priority based on playstyle, race, own army/enemy army composition and so on? Keep up the great vids! :)

  • @Taznak
    @Taznak Před 2 lety

    Expanding is also very important when you have a level 6 Dark Ranger and you're trying to bloodcastle your opponent. You need to build the opposing race's town hall so you can then advance through their tech tree and get Bloodlusted Frost Wyrms.

    Either way I'll always support your channel, it's great energy and you're a pleasure to listen to and to observe your incredible proficiency at macroing and timings of builds, also some really great micro.

    in terms of wc3, this is exactly the strategy of US: expanding to every possible options, leaving opponents to die, and promoting proxy wars between opponents and creeps, with some harrasment from DK. And then, “they dont any wrongs! They are peaceful! They didnt start the war! It was orcs who attacked theur neighbour expo to survive!” :D
