Hi Dhar Mann, I’m from South Korea
OMG!! WOWWWWW
@@billieeilishbd that will be cool 😎
As a gymnast ( why I chose this video) no matter what size you are that doesn't mean your performance is bad it just means you may have to work less or more
Thank you for watching, Belinda. I appreciate it.

@@DharMann hi Dhar!

Why does the coach say Dominique is thinner when Emma is visibly the same size? 💀
FR

OMFG FR
IKR!
Bc the couldn’t fine someone who was really fat and do twists and flips in the air
I really like how Dominique cheered for Emma even when she joined the blue team. It shows that she's nonjudgmental to her teammates and kind.
Exactly, I was gonna say the same thing
Yes
8:04 I can't believe that the coach made Emma choose between winning and food. I would choose food everyday.
YES SAME OH MY GOSH
It’s like saying “life or win”
As a gymnast for 9 years, who just thankfully got the heck out of there, the coach is scarily accurate. “Winning is your number one priority. Nothing else matters” I swear I have heard more than one gymnastics coach tell me this. Gymnastics is an absolutely brutal sport, and no one understands that. To be a gymnast, you must be in incredible physical shape, mentally strong to endure the verbal abuse, and have the perseverance to get back up a hundred times. Gymnastics is much more than being able to jump really high or flip on a trampoline, it is mentally and emotionally draining. I was never fat shamed, though I do know gymnasts who were and my heart goes out to them, my problem was with constantly getting torn down. Every time I got a correction, I heard that I wasn’t good enough, and still to this day, I have huge problems with my self confidence. I was basically set up to fail and I felt incredibly inferior, a feeling which I still carry with me. I began having horrible stomach cramps at the age of 5 because I was terrified of my coches and didn’t want to go to practice. I have developed depression and anxiety and a horrible self image because of gymnastics. Which I guess is why I get so angry when someone says “gymnastics isn’t a sport” or “gymnastics is so easy” or “I mean it’s all presentation”(yes someone said that to me). Anyway, all other struggling gymnasts out there, keep your head up, you are so much stronger than you realize. And thank you so much Dhar for recognizing the hardships of this sport❤️
Frr yes I am a gymnast as well it’s so true
I play a lot of sports and dropped out of my basketball team bcuz of the coach. He was like this. My cricket coach is much nicer. And I’m even our captain of the team which reached the runner up.
Did gymnastics for 10 years and honestly it’s true all you hear is “you want to win so do better” it’s such a mentality draining sport, I play rugby now it’s so much more positive with all that
@@toririn9803 exactly it is mentally exhausting almost as much as it is physically. Its nice to know someone else understands! And I’m very glad you found something that makes you happy, I certainly haven’t looked back😊
“ Gymnastics iS nOt A sPoRtTtT! “ According to my dumb male classmates. ( I KNOW it is a sport. )
Fact : Emma looks thinner than Dominique
Exactly! Dominique is just shorter
haha love it true though
👍 EXACTLY
EXACTUYYYYYY
That's exactly what I was thinking
My coach also tears us down, but not to the extent of this. He just yells at everyone and makes inappropriate remarks or jokes. He harasses other coaches and demands things from the authorities. Little kids start crying because of him and some of them get hurt because he pushes them to do something they’re not ready for. He’s the toughest on me and I just make smartass remarks back.
One time, I said school was more important than gymnastics and he said that it wasn’t. I said, “Well, at least I know more math than you” and everyone started laughing, including the other coaches.
Bruhhhhhhhhhh
sounds like my coach..
As a gymnast with much experience (especially moving to different gyms) this has never happened in my experience. This isn’t fair at all and weight or winning doesn’t matter . Only having fun and believing in yourself that you did amazing is the only thing that matters.

@@aaa35423so true tho
You should always be able to eat with pleasure not with guilt. Plus you should never ever force someone to do anything if they don’t wanna do it that just makes their life harder.
True dat
Thanks captain obvious
When u say “don’t force someone to do something they don’t wanna do” besides when parents make u go to a docter
Ok, answer me this. You eat way too much, your overweight and have diabetes and vey unhealthy. What would you rather do? Make the effort to lose weight and become healthier? Or eat more junk and gain more weight to the point where you can’t even get out of bed?
This is facts
Size isn't everything in gymnastics. It's attitude and other factors. I am a former gymnast and even got more than three medals in gymnastics and in other sports too.
As a retired gymnast, it doesn't matter what size or weight people have.
When I was 8 years old, I was told by my gymnastics coach that I was too big for gymnastics. It totally scarred me, and so when I was a young kid I refused to eat. I was treated at hospitals for anorexia and only just recovered from it. Fat shaming is not okay, it has an unimaginable impact on people, and as minor as the comment may seem, the impact is massive. Everyone is beautiful no matter the size.
Im sorry i feel so bad for you
I took developmental psychology my first year of college and i learned about a girl who was a professional ballerina and died at 22 from anorexia because of how she was pressured to be skinny for the sport. Behavior like the coach is demonstrating will continue to increase anorexia cases and other eating disorders. I’m so sorry that happened to you🥺
Same story for me, I ended up in the hospital for 3 years. I feel u
THAT IS SO TRUE
I’m so sorry that happened to you ❤️

There is always that one judge that never gives 10.
She did was better then dominic, it’s 10, 10, 10, 10
@@chillPug39 He’s stupid then lol
Yeah
As someone who has been doing gymnastics since age three I will say most of this behavior is caused by self insecurity not peer pressure by the coach. It did take me a long time to realize that size doesn’t matter as long as you have fun
I love your heartwarming videos which are sad because a lot of this actually happens in the real world.
As someone who has starved themselves this means a lot to me. Starving urself has a lot of health affects. No one should ever starve themselves
Yeah, there is a difference between starving yourself and maintaining a healthy diet.
Your body needs proper nutrition to help it function properly. No food in your system is just as unhealthy as lots of junk food in your system.
I have to strongly agree with that statement. Junk food is better than no food, but if u are a gymnast trying to lose weight, I recommend eating salads with grilled chicken and maybe even other fruits and veggies. I will usually eat meals like this frequently, and even if I do eat junk food, one thing that I almost always do is try to get diet sodas whenever I can to limit my calorie intake and my sugar intake. Sorry tmi😅😅😅
A healthy diet consists of all food, unless you’re allergic or have religious recommendations.
As a gymnast myself, weight doesn’t matter when your doing a sport or doing something you love to do
As another gymnast, I feel that all you need is passion, not self hate.
EAT FIRST AND THINK ABOUT IT, K!!!
Well weight does matter a lot in gymnastics.
especially because weight = entire body composition, and someone's weight can be exactly the same before and after they meet their fitness goal. because their body composition shifted around to be high in muscle. building your strength is what training is mostly about, and so "weight loss" shouldn't really even enter the picture.
I know right it’s just confinedense and practice

As a National level gymnastic, I am clinically overweight and I am in the gymnastics department but I’ve still been able to win first and second multiple times and I’m still able to learn new skills, it’s good to be smaller as it’s easier to hold and move your body but I’m not less capable than my teammates and neither is anyone else💕
For some reason this video gives me the same energy as my classmates telling me that they could never deal with having hair as long as mine because it’s “Too heavy” like it’s hair I get that maybe having long hair might be heavy but it’s like my hair isn’t even that long it was definitely not the reason why I have bad neck posture

I’m a retired gymnast and ex gymnastics coach. I coached beginners. In one of my classes, the “heaviest” girl was actually the best in the class, and other “smaller” kids in the class were not quite as advanced and they had been attending gymnastics longer. Size has nothing to do with your success in gymnastics. I myself was larger and that was never a problem for me!
I do think you should recognise that size can have some impact, not always but it is generally harder to control your body movements or jump higher if you weigh more. It doesn’t mean that you can’t be just as good, if not better just that you have to put some work in

Food or gymnastics and winning?😂 You literally need food to live
It’s not about winning it’s all about you participating and having fun!
but a prize wouldn't hurt as well. Will you be training gymnastics for 20 years and in the real national competiton, will you be smiling and try to have fun without doing nothing? think twice before saying anything 💀
This video reminds me of two separate indents in my life:
1. When I was 8, I took gymnastics for fun (along with tap & jazz). It was co-taught by a husband and wife, however I ended up quitting. Because one my body started to hurt and two, I did not like her husband raising his voice at me because I couldn't "keep my hands straight" whenever I did cartwheels.
2. When I was 13, years old I stopped eating. Not because I wanted to lose weight but because I hated the cafeteria food that they served (I ate when I got home). It was nasty and one time in kindergarten I got food poisoning from it. One day after I skipped lunch I got really dizzy, my head was hurting, and I couldn't see (apparently my eyes were crossing). I got my sight back after I took a little nap in the nurse's office. They called my cousin to pick me up and we got some food.
Whoa, I felt that. I was that hungry once too, and I was thirteen. 😲
That has never ever happened to me when i dont eat, i mean idk ive never rlly got blurry vision and stuff from skipping lunch thats very weird thh
I'm sorry you had to go through that. Her husband shouldn't have yelled at you for not being able to keep your hands straight because cartwheels take practice just like anything. I myself am trying to learn how to do splits for my online ballet classes since with ballet, you need to be flexible. But I also understand that it takes practice to be able to do the splits.
I went to a gym that was run by a husband and wife too, and I was constantly yelled at by the husband(everyone was afraid of him). When i was 5 I started to develop horrible stomach cramps everyday before practice because I was so scared of them. I remember once getting a new skill that the rest of my team had already gotten, and I raised my arms and cheered in excitement. The coach just looked at me and said “finally! now it’s time to work on the next skill. You are so behind the rest of your team moved on a long time ago”. I still struggle with self confidence because of comments like that. Anyway, it would be really funny if we went to the same gym lol
I may have had a mild case of strabismus (aka crossed-eyes), one way to get it is stress. At the time I was dealing with bulles, and a history paper that was due. So that maybe one cause. Another cause could be that I had a mini stroke, which can happen if you don't eat properly (not indirectly though).
Even the principal at the time thought I was faking (the nurse needed up with my emergency contact info). She had me close my eyes then open them again, it didn't work.
The fact that the gymnast does whatever the coach said I know how it feels.thank you dhar Mann for making our days better.
You're welcome, Nadia. I appreciate you watching this video.
6:57 Two pounds away from a perfect score? More like she’s two pounds away from death!
I used to be in gymnastics when I was younger. I would have loved a coach like Coach Rothman.
As a gymnast,
You should NEVER starve yourself. There is a girl on my team who gets discouraged because of her weight but gets AWESOME scores. And my coach is just like the blue teams coach, she is one of the best coaches ever. She makes sure we eat before (and have time for our food to settle) and after (if we need to) because she used to have a coach like coach toolan. So for anyone, don’t worry about your weight because you can achieve anything u put your heart and mind to. ❤️💙

Ok, it's actually been said by scientists that when you don't eat, your body will actually produce fat on it's own so the body can be fueled in some way, and when you're using your body in an active way, such as gymnastics, dance or basketball or any sport, it can put lots of pressure on your body and eating strengthens you in that activity and can help you immensely.
That’s ironic as heck, isn’t it

2:25: hearing this just p¡sses me off. I can't believe a coach would say that. When I was in volleyball in 6th grade I struggled so bad but my coaches number one priority was to help me learn. Winning was the last thing on her mind. It's not like if you lose a tournament your gonna die and it's gonna be the end of the world. Just keep trying. Don't let anyone tell you winning is top priority and get away with it. Don't even listen. If a coach tells you quit the team and tell ur parents. Maybe a teacher. Nobody should get away with that. In life its best to listen to your instincts before going the wrong way.
I thought this was the old video where her dad gave up on her so i didnt watch it but now I've seen that it says a few hours ago
I love this lesson Dhar. Physical and mental health is always more important than just winning. You should always think about what’s best for them not for winning.
I agree with you! Thanks for watching. Stay tuned.

@@DharMann I am a huge fan dhar man
I definitely agree with you. As a ballet dancer and working out, exercising, I really think you should continue eating because eating gives us strength for not only ballet, but for many sport activities just like gymnastics. Exercising gives us muscles, but exercise always requires strength. I was eating fast food and still keep eating it, I've been exercising and now I'm gaining kilograms, so I won't have to be skinny anymore!
HELP SHES NOT EVEN OVER WEIGHT WHAT-
I used to gain a lot of weight. I love dar mann
I love this video. I love the meaning behind this video. It is amazing ❤
I’ve said recently that HEALTH matters MUCH MORE than GRADES! Health equates to how well you do something!
Thank you so much for bringing this to attention. Being a gymnast for my whole life I can completely relate. It should not be like this.
You're welcome, Kati. Glad you can relate. I appreciate you watching this video.
@@DharMann omg! Thank you so much for replying!

@@DharMann glad you can relate…? Bro that’s not good that she related to that
I love how Em and Dom are friends and stick up for each other. They could've just as easily scripted them to be bitter enemies who are mean to each other but I'm glad they're not.
It's not about winning , it's about fun - Spongebob Squarepants
I was in gymnastics and myself my coach always told me just do the best you can winning is not everything just have fun with trust ur teammates and your instincts thanks for sharing this inspiring message
Its not the fact that Emma is fat
*It's the fact that she's so hardworking that her muscles are real strong* 💪
As a gymnast for 5 years, being heavier does not cause lack of skill. There is actually a lot of good things about being heavier.
As a gymnast that came 2 in all of Australia it dose not matter you just have to be well trained
No matter what size of body you are, you are still as good as everyone else, if not better. Thank you Dhar Mann for this true and inspiritational video.
so true!
Btw that’s my sister in law. She was a gymnast in collage. And now she’s an actor. 😏

Coach: "Winning is your #1 priority."
Me: "She can't win if she's dead"
Gymnastics is really hard; you have to train a lot٫ but you shouldn't push yourself too hard٫ or do things that are unhealthy for you. Always put your health and wellbeing first.
Teacher: “winning is your only priority, noting else matters.”
Me: gurl, you can’t win without your health
winning is not everything
