I get the error: Formula.Firewall: Query 'xxxx' references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination.

Basically each step of the Data query is sort of a table of it's own. Let's say you have 15 steps in the Data query, but let's say you just want to extract the output up till step #3, you will be able to extract all the columns up till that step using this method.
Hope that clears up the confusion.
