Very impressive!! Especially you are so good at using chopsticks and know how to eat Bibimbap by mixing rice and vegetables with spoon. Some people use chopsticks when they eat Bibimbap which is quite awkward for me.

What a great video! :) Maru Jayeonsik Gimbap is a great little vegan place in Insadong near where the kimchi museum is. They make great vegan odeng, tteokbokki, and "chicken." I hope you could check it out!
Aw yeah I love that place! Sadly they are also closed on Mondays, so I hope to visit again soon! 😃

One tea shop in insadong has an interesting history (heard it from an episode of Dark Side of Seoul Podcast March 16 2022 episode). During the military dictatorship, Chun Sang Byung (known as people’s poet) was an activist. Born in japan during the 30s, when he was a teen he and his family moved to Korea. Attended seoul national university and became a well known poet. He was kidnapped in 1962 by the South Korean government. He was locked in a cellar. The reason was because they found an artist that was a communist spy with an address book with chun’s address written in it. The most common torture he endured was water torture, most painful was electric shocks to his genitals, which left him infertile for the rest of his life. Tortured for 6 months to get answers but chun didn’t know anything. He was released but suffered crippling trauma. He became alcoholic and in 1971 he disappeared, no one knew where he was. Loved ones made a collection of his works as a memorial and it was believed he died. But months later he suddenly appeared in an asylum in seoul. When he was in the asylum he could only remember two things; he knew his name and remember he was a poet. And had become completely child like. He was being cared for by a friends sister daily. She realized as he was getting better and leave the asylum, he couldn’t survive on his own. This once seoul university graduate and famous poet had a child’s mind. She had so much compassion and love for him, she decided to marry him in 1972. So she can care for him and live with him. They moved to ouijung bu. But money was a problem, he couldn’t work and care was not cheap. Their friends gathered money for them to open a tea cafe in insadong. They called the tea shop “kwe chun” (back to heaven, after title of one of Chuns poem). Chun would sit in the same chair everyday and welcome customers in and guide them to a seat for years until his health started to decline in the late 80s. He died in 1993, But his wife continues to operate the cafe until today.

Hahaha it can be a bit difficult if you don't know where to go or what to order. These days it's been getting a lot better with options. Too bad we went on a day when many restaurants were closed, because this area has multiple vegan restaurants 😅 Thanks for watching!
