    All these people talking about how bad jlaw is and how good everybody else is obviously doesn't know much about acting, not every actress/actor can be the same. Julia Roberts and Kate Winslet are two of the most respected actresses in Hollywood but are so different from one another,I think comparing jlaw to Amy Adams is pointless because they're so different but equally as good. And the reason why jlaw gets the kind of attention she gets is because she is so refreshing, she go with the crowd plus her acting skill(whether you like her or not)is very diverse, she can play whatever character you put in front of her.

    Amy Adams. If snubbed by the Academy for her portrayal of Edith/Sidney, will be such a crying shame. Her no dialogue acting, looking at Irving with adoration, real love, genuine feelings for him? Blew me away. She nailed that look of true love each time her character took it in the jaw as one getting sucker punched by adult love.

    Jennifer Lawrence really did a good job in her role in this movie,although her accent was on and off, the rest were on point. Amy Adams did well in AM but it is not as strong as Cate Blanchetts amazing(truly outstanding performance) performance in blue jasmine. The race between Lupita and Jennifer is very tight as they equally performed as well as eachother in their films. But although I love Jennifer's great acting (and obsessed with her) Lupita might just take the oscar in my opinion. I just realised that this is my brothers account and I will not re write this...(uses my mac without permission!!!)

    Based upon prior interviews, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper are talented, self deprecating actors who are probably enjoyable to work with. Bale takes himself very seriously and seems to believe that he is the reincarnation of Sir Laurence Olivier, although he deigns to play Batman. He's a skilled actor, but he strikes me as a pain in the ass.

    When I first saw this movie I thought the cast was amazing. Now that I've seen other films/performances that are nominated for the Oscars, I must say that my vote goes to Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor - Dallas Buyers Club), Jared Leto (Best Supporting Actor - Dallas Buyers Club), Meryl Streep (Best Actress - August:Osage County) and for Best Supporting Actress I like either Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) or June Squibb (Nebraska). For Best Picture I would really love to see Captain Phillips win. (Love our SEAL!)

    • @boltstrike8
      @boltstrike8 Před 10 lety

      Gotta say Matthew was phenomenal even though the movie lacked big time. Now Jared is a different story...I'm not sure what the buzz is all about but let a str8 guy put on a dress and he's suddenly Oscar worthy. Not in a million years! But then again it's the Oscars so he'll probably win :) Michael Fassbender should win for Best Supporting Actor no doubt about that. Best Actress even though I haven't seen Osage..will hopefully go to Cate. And the Oscar for Best Picture should go to 12 Years A Slave but it won't cause of Hollywood politics. And there you have it :) But that's only one mans opinion.

    • @sethdamaskinos8868
      @sethdamaskinos8868 Před 10 lety +11

      I was a little disappointed, it was surprisingly dull in some parts. I like the fact that it's very character driven and that the characters are well rounded, but there wasn't a consistent balance between the complicated plot and the character development, which made the whole thing feel a little untidy. The acting is marvelous and the dialogue is masterful. Maybe I was expecting a film a-la Goodfellas because of the trailers. I could see why critics liked it, but for me it was just good.

      from IMDB: According to Christian Bale much of the movie was improvised. So, during the shooting of the film he noted to David O. Russell, "You realize that this is going to change the plot greatly down track." To which the director replied, "Christian, I hate plots. I am all about characters, that's it."

    • @TheConciseStatement
      @TheConciseStatement Před 10 lety +3

      Slow?! Wow. That 2¼ hours flew by for me. I genuinely don't think the Scorsese comparisons are just by amateur critics. And what was great was when it got to Adams and Bale lying down in the car I felt a bit dizzy, like I finally wanted to come off the merry-go-round, and low and behold the film knew it too and quickly wrapped up soon after. Since Scorsese always deals with even longer durations than that, it'll be interesting to see if The Wolf of Wall Street can match its pacing. But yeah, I'm not saying its a particularly deep or important film, just an incredibly fun ride with characters I got really invested in, much more so than you can expect from most con-job movies, and far more successful even than later Scorsese efforts, like The Departed, which in a reversal of this situation, everyone was heaping awards praise on, and I for the life of me couldn't understand why. American Hustle gets 7/10 from me.

It's weird that his accent is all over the place. I just watched another interview at this same period and he's using some sort of Cockney accent. It's just an observation so why don't you little babies get balanced. Anyway, perhaps he's preparing for another role because this ain't even really the accent from Hustle. :)

    • @flashtheoriginal
      @flashtheoriginal Před 7 lety +1

      OrphanSeasun Well, yes. Point taken, but he is an Englishman and is proud to be so. As he has lived in the USA for so long, an American accent will seep into his everyday dialogue - its natural. And i dont think that the drift of accent or tone takes anything away from the integrity of his words. The key here is whether he varies his delivery for the purposes of trying to impress others.... Yes, as an actor, but definitely no as a person. The man is the man; take him or leave him. However, judged on acting merit, i find him completely absorbing and real. In fact one of the most underrated actors of our time and easily worthy of Oscar recognition. Up there with DeNiro, Hanks and Caine

    I know Christian Bale chooses to do interviews in the voice of the character being discussed...but, everyone knows he's English, and speaking with his true accent isn't going to ruin the movie for anyone.

    After seeing this movie it was clear to me that Jeniffer Lawrence didn't have any acting studies...I don't think she deserves even a nomination but...well, this is the Oscars. My opinion though.

    It was one of the biggest losers in the history of the Oscars. It went 0-10. Had it been nominated in one more category and lost , it would have tied with The Color Purple and The Turning Point for most Oscar losses. Both of these films went 0-11.

    am i the only one who notices how Bradley looks at Jennifer? that's love (not in a romantic way, or yes, i don't know) but Bradley definitely loves Jennifer so much, even if it's just as a friend, but thats love people.

    Jesus, it's like they just purged Eric Singer (the original script writer) out of this entire conversation. Like he wrote the script that allowed for this movie to exist and they don't even mention his name? Damn.

    The film in China biggest critics online only 1 points, is the lowest evaluation, there are nearly 5000 comments. Most people think this movie is very boring, is a runaway film, the plot is very confused. A complex and simple intention is excessive, and there is no reasonable arrangement good plot become chaotic. Many people are distracted, not a minute can attract the attention of the audience. Many people questioned his award.

    You know I find it very odd that the Golden Globes put this film under Best Comedy but Django Unchained which was more comedy than drama was put under Best Drama as while Django had it's serious moments it's Tarantino's funniest film but judging from the trailer of American Hustle it looks more or less the same as Django only more serious and they put it under Comedy and it's a gangster film.
