    One of my favorite stretches of road in the entire country (between I-75 and I-65). Feels like those mountains will swallow you whole :)
    Thanks for another great video Jim!

    All I can say is WOW what a ride. I now know I have to get to Chattanooga for some Socarboy action. Interesting ride on I-24 and showing it's uniqueness hugging the GA-TN border. My only experience in Chattanooga was a very brief business day trip there in 1995. I definitely would love to see that area again!

      @Freewayjim  Před 8 lety

      +socarboy Thanks, yes the Chattanooga area (Within 50 miles) is pretty neat from a road standpoint as you'll see in the next two videos and then there's TN-111 in the Sequatchie Valley to the north, hope you get a chance to do some filming in in this region some day.

    FANTASTIC combination of music, lighting and traffic conditions, subject matter, and descriptive annotations to guide us all through this one, all the way to the base of Monteagle. Also like your new slide-in feature of shortened annotations with the maroon banner for "quick-tip" info. Great video, all throughout...putting this on the "favorites" list.

    At around 3:30 ("Crossing Missionary Ridge"), that small stretch is known locally as the "Ridge Cut." When the interstate was built, they actually cut out part of Missionary Ridge to make way for the road. If you go up on the ridge today, you can see where roads end at the Ridge Cut. Go to the other side and you can see where they resume.

    I was down in Chattanooga, driving those very roads about 14 years ago, seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd play at the Riverbend Festival, as well as Dickie Betts. Lookout Mountain is pretty spectacular. Not sure if you got the chance to stop by and see it. Fantastic video, Jim! Of course, we've come to expect nothing but spectacular from you after all these years!

    I've made that trip a few times, as I've stated before somewhere. Once in the 70s, northbound, as a kid. this as before the new split which created the huge median, this side of Monteagle. Once during the construction, and again, though southbound, back just before this past Christmas.

    While Georgia does (or did, before APL became the in thing) overhead lane diagram signs, see 24/59 on 24's brief sojourn into Georgia, it uses GADOT's font, I seem to think the 24/75 split sign in advance of it in Georgia just south of the Tennessee line was put there by TNDOT.
