  • First part of analysis of Hidden Place. I describe the structure of the music and some fun facts. Just for comparission look how a music from romantic period look like in similar graphics • Brahms, Piano Quartet ... ( there is a lot of melody happening in bassline and more chords)

This can't be real... I'm absolutely lost in awe, this is shockingly beautiful
I had weird experience with that album, I listen to it while I was asleep and dream I saw affected me pretty dramatically, so I never listen to it since.
Today I got curious... Like this is... This sounds like heaven without any exaggeration

One of my favorite Bjork tracks from one of her best albums (alongside Homogenic). Mariah's compositions are sonically rich and layered with backing vocals .

@@Stan-to9wc Yes, Mariah is known for creating a “wall of sound” as influenced by Phil Spector’s music of the 1960s. Bjork’s Hidden Place (and other songs) remind me of this technique.

The weird and truly unique thing about Björk is that she is full on intellectual and not at all emotional, that her music is extremely controlled and not at all organic, so it is really utterly devoid of emotion, and yet it is utterly moving.

Speaking of sampling "household itens", Matthew Herbert and duo Matmos who helped with Verspertine, do that a lot in their music. For example Matmos' song Breaking Bread. "All sounds generated by breaking LPs and 7" single by the soft rock group Bread and amplifying shards of vinyl. No sampling of Bread's music took place."
or "he said to bring something to facilitate their first session. "I thought he meant something inspiring, so I brought this Brian Eno article about a project called the Long Now, about him putting a clock into a cliff that counts for 700 years - I thought maybe it could inspire a song. And Matthew, says: 'OK, hit it across the microphone.'"
