Iris Calculator is a tool for designing iris diaphragms quickly and precisely. It enables you to instantly determine the feasibility of an iris design and removes the work involved in manually producing CAD drawings.
Dimensions for blade arrays and housings are all calculated from the known dimensions you specify - along with minimum and maximum apertures.
Simply enter any dimensions you know and the rest will be calculated for you!

wish you didnt have to pay to even try it.... not spending money for an engineering class project when I dont know if it will even suit my needs

What about zero aperture? Does this work? What to respect when designing it?
Use a negative minimum aperture value. Half the blades on one side of the ring, half on the other. Be mindful of the blades colliding at minimum aperture. and the need for slip-blades to help each array operate smoothly / prevent them snagging.
