It may be an generational embarressment for the UK, but for the Tory government it was Wednesday.

To be fair, if the schools and hospitals are in the states they are in, why would anyone expect the prisons to be anything other than abysmal? Ask yourselves, if investment in our future and health are poor, will politicians and some of those voters care about rehabilitation and security?

You start to think that this government is now beyond embarrassment.
Anyway, he was arrested at 11am.

Mr Bleksley needs to calm down with his over-speculative contribution. We have now learnt that this resourceful young man was picked up in Chiswick!
What is remarkable is not that he was picked up so close to the prison, but that it indicates there was NOBODY ELSE helping him.
If this was a solo job, then he may be an ideal candidate for the SAS.

Well, not spending just a few seconds to check under vehicles leaving a prison is incredibly incompetent.

Its a shame he didn't make it to Iran. The British taxpayer wouldn't have to pay for his prison stay, the courts wouldn't have to waste time on him and he'd be gone forever. Living his best life in the paradise that is Iran

i'm a yank but i wouldn't laugh at the UK. Crims are creative wherever you find them. We've got a murderer on the run who crab walked sideways and upward between two walls-- parallel to the ground --then escaped through TWO rolls of razor wire.

Surprised media outlets in the UK are not reporting the US one, also involving a young lad. No one seems to be aware of that story here, as friends etc said they had no idea.😮

Not a Tory supporter at all but.... the bottom-line with prisoner escapes is law and order has to get it right 365 days a year 24hrs a day, a prisoner especially someone who has been in the services and might well have active assistance from the outside needs to get it right just once.

We had no choice but austerity. The cost of providing basic levels of public service to the British people was too much. Doing so is why our economy collapsed. We really should have gone further and reduced pensions along with attacking the sick and disabled.

Your escapee prisoner is possibly hiding in #IRGCterrorists safe house as we speak or even the Iranian embassy, waiting to recieve a heroic welcome in Iran very soon. This is true cost of appeasing terrorists and legitimising Islamic facism when Iranian dissidents here are begging you to put these zombies on the terror list & you refuse because you want to do business with their oppressors . You harvest what you sow #DanielKhalife
