  • Made a ~1000ft nature trail in the woods behind our pond. Used a Bobcat Toolcat to clear the path and spread the mulch. Mulch was free from utility company running a new pipeline on the backside of my property. Will do future additions to the trail like a bridge so stay tuned for more videos.

    Nice work! Would be nice if you could elaborate which equipment was most impactful. Renting must be expensive I bet and so being able to do most work with couple would be super helpful. I suppose dump truck and loader-backhoe combo?

    Great video! We are making trails through our woods and this is encouraging!! Question, did they drone automatically follow y’all?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Před rokem +1

      Cool! Yes the drove has a tracking feature where it can track people, cars, boats and a few other objects.

    Must be nice to have access to all that machinery.

      Toolcat is mine but tractor and dump trailer are a friends. Certainly helps to have equipment (and friends!).

    We are wanting to build a running/walking nature trail in heavy woods. It looks like your trail was already there and just needed to be spruced up. How did you originally clear it? What machinery? We won't do herbicides near our pond but need to clear a good 6 ft path.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Před 2 lety

      I used my Toolcat with brush mower on the front like here (not same location but same tool): czcams.com/video/33wolpJcX_I/video.html

    This looks fantastic! What kind of herbicide did you use or would you recommend?? Thanks!

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Před 3 lety

      I like the 1 yr long stuff, helps keep new growth down all season. I buy the concentrate and use a garden sprayer, much cheaper that way! Here's one I use but many options: amzn.to/2TWLiQk

  • @luxdevoid
    @luxdevoid Před 5 měsíci

    I hope you wore safety gear when spraying the herbicide! I assume it was Roundup (Glyphosate) . Its a very dangerous class 1 carcinogen. Hard to avoid with a project this size and the expense of a barrier, but glyphosate is bad news if you research it. The propane weed torches work well.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It was not glyphosate but i consider all of them and similar strong chemicals as dangerous. Even propane torch and the plant off gasing/smoke could be consider dangerous. As with most things in life reasonable measures of protection and moderation are good practices to reduce your odds of an issue.

    • @luxdevoid
      @luxdevoid Před 5 měsíci

      @NaterTater True...I have a big property on a river and I'm wanting to do a trail similar to yours. I love the idea! What weed killer did you use? I can't find any without glyphosate and with my proximity to water, it's illegal to use them.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Před 5 měsíci

      @luxdevoid i use amzn.to/3OtmLeD which actually takes out even more stuff then round-up.

    • @luxdevoid
      @luxdevoid Před 5 měsíci

      @NaterTater Ortho is glyphosate same as Roundup, unfortunately. I can't even use mulch, cause it gets washed away. I'll just have to let my neighbors use it as a jogging trail to keep the weeds down, haha

    I’m wanting to build a trail from a rural road to a creek I found that has a swimming hole

  • @TannerWilliam07
    @TannerWilliam07 Před 2 lety

    Oh man, those tractors really compacted the soil, bet you had reduced growth around the trail :(

    Id rather have weeds than risk my family's heath with big chems cancer seeds.
