Guys, don’t hesitate going to the Philippines. I am Filipino American and lives in Chicago, the crime in the Phiippines is nothing compared to Chicago where an average of 14 folks get gunned down daily. Crimes in the Philippines are mostly petty and the reason Korea surpassed the Philippines economically is because unfortunately corruption became a way of life from the highest position to the lowest position. Most Koreans are unaware of the contributions from Filipinos during the war and even during the rebuilding of S. Korea, the Philippines was the tiger of Asia back then. I feel so much safer in the Philippines than in the US, in fact ; a lot of Koreans live and grow up in the Philippines. Nature is unbelievable in the Philippines. My wife and I
will eventually retire there just like a lot of American ex-pats.

back in 2013 I had sa chance to tutored a Korean guy for english and tagalog. He said he has a zero knowledge in English more so in tagalog. During his middle school all the way to college English subject was just an optional for them and he regretted that he did not take the chance to take the subject. He was an engineer in Hyundai company. He was very grateful that I taught him understand the english subject and slowly speak the language. He started speaking in broken english but now can speak tagalog fluently as well as english. I asked him when is he going back to work, he said, probably when he's hungry (figuratively speaking), LOL! Here in the Philippines we welcome everybody that visits our country and we even love them if they chose to stay be one of us here. As a nation we also have our flaws we also have our fair share of down sides, just like any other nation.. but just enjoy the warm embrace of my people, our culture and the beautiful places we can offer.. povery is everywhere even in the most progressive nations, but don't worry much as we can handle those hardships, we can still smile and we can find joy enjoy whatever we have on our tables.

..Filipinos in general are into Kdramas because their dramas are concise with unique storylines (most have 16 episodes only) unlike Philippine dramas which mostly influenced by Mexican Telenovelas which were also very popular before (it will reach 100+ episodes and storylines are cliché)..KPop was also widely patronized because of their high quality MVs and music production plus the intense dancing and Idol visuals..we also see their culture to be very rich and beautiful..❤
..S.Koreans stereotypes regarding the Philippines are inevitable because I have also watched many Kdramas and Kmovies that portrays the Philippines in a bad light..which is saddening but hearing the interviews, i think it's already changing and i'm glad that people are becoming more aware of how beautiful our country is..lots of S.Koreans also loves travelling to the Philippines because most Filipinos understand English thus easy communication and because of our neutral accent, we can be easily understood by many foreigners from different countries..we're also very accommodating thus many are coming back because of the people they've met..❤

There is a bit of untruth about Philippines not being Westernized much later, I dont think so.Americans came here during the Japanese war and somehow influenced us a lot, that could also be the reason why we speak a lot of the Universal language wc is English plus the fact that even before Korean culture was introduced to the Phils., we were already into Hollywood stuff like movies ang songs.
I also think it was Sandara Park, a former Korean actress here who went back to Korea that introduced Korean culture to us.She is an unofficial "Philippine ambassador" as she promotes the Philippines to Korea and vice versa. She comes here often coz she says she loves the Philippines as she once lived here and became an actress b4 becoming famous in Korea as a Kpop singer fr 2NE1.

This is the whole truth: the Philippines does have a crime, drug, and sex trafficking problem. However, in recent years, crime and drugs have gone down while sex trade was regulated for the first time. Sadly the current govt has rolled back the budget of some of these policies, but it's still present for now.
For the claim that Filipinos look up to Koreans, this is only true for Filipino women who consume Kbeauty, Kpop, and Kfood products. Filipino men don't necessarily do unless they were Kpop fans already. Men generally look up to the US and Japan more.
The claim that Korea was westernized earlier than the Philippines is wrong, Spain conquered the islands in the 1500s, and if we're talking about the US as the western influence then Spain sold the Philippines to the US in 1898 or so.
It's more accurate to say that Koreans look down upon Filipinos more than Filipinos look up to Koreans, since OFWs (Overseas filipino workers) in Korea usually do menial manpower jobs. The ones that take these jobs are usually the poor Filipinos who spend a lot of time under the sun working, which leads to the skin color discrimination to the point of the word Filipino being used as a slur to bully dark skinned Koreans in their schools. Korean and Filipino culture are also very different when it comes to puncuality.
Bro said it that most countries have some kind of red light district or city. Amsterdam, Yoshiwara in Japan, Pattaya in Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, and Clark in the Philippines.

A previous top Philippines statesman recommended the change in government structure during his term but he was not supported by the Legislative and Judicial Branches. He was proposing to have Federal type of government, where whatever each city earns the majority of it will be used in its own improvement, a few percentages goes to national security and other national matters. I think he wanted to have prime ministers in the system as well. But this type of government will really highlight cities/provinces with very corrupt politicians...

@CathySabb536 hahaha sometimes mindanao or visayan humor or words shouldn't be taken at face value. He throws the idea there but he knows it will take a lot of work. The President doesn't have the final say, our government works with three separate arms, Executive (President), Legislative (Congress) and Judicial (Law). He knows for this to happen all three must give unanimous decision. Sometimes his words are out of frustration, maybe sometimes a threat, but always for the greater majority of Filipinos. That's why its real hard to become the President, you become the bad guy, and sometimes make harder decisions. Not easy, not something we car learn in schools either.

I've lived in Manila since I was a kid, me and my brothers have never been victims of pickpocket, snatching, etc. Not by luck, my dad's a soldier who always, always reminds us to be aware of our surroundings. Never been pickpocketed since he reminds us to put our bags infront esp. in crowded spaces, taught us how to spot snatchers in public transportations esp. Jeepneys (& to trust our gut & get off at a crowded area.) Never had my cp snatched since he taught us that if we're outside we need to be aware & textinf can be done once we've reached the destination (& in case we do get snatched, not be stupid & fight since life is more important than stuff you can buy). If we're travelling at night, avoid dark areas with no crowd, if we take a cab get the info & text it to anyone, etc. Same in any countries, there are good & bad people just need to be aware, be in the moment & y'know not be engrossed in your phones that you missed what's happening around you

@@DANDJREACT Hi, yeah my dad is big on safety & being streetwise. That said, Filipinos are known for their "bayanihan" aka helping each other out. I've seen people who immediately goes & help others, they would even chase a thief or a car if they've seen a hit&run. There was a time I didn't have enough money for a fare & when strangers found out they pitch in to help. When we moved & our new neighbours found out we don't have any stuff since all was destroyed by fire at our old home they gave us chairs, tables, etc. So yeah while there are cases of petty crimes etc., there are far more people ready to help out, they are not indifferent esp. one's neigbours. There was even a joke that the reason why Philippines rarely have any serial killers is bec. they won't escape being noticed by the neighbors 🤣 TY for the content & appreciating diff. cultures (not just us) & your commentaries are very sensible & you take in pov from both sides.

As a Filipino living here in Canada for 37 years and counting I'm just surprise when I visit the Philippines so many expats living in the country Koreans, Americans, Canadians Europeans etc. you name it. What the foreign mainstream media says it's dangerous to live in the Philippines ! This year according. to statistic the tourists that visited the Philippines broke the record of previous years. My question is how come there are so many tourists coming in if the place is dangerous? Even here in Canada there are some places that are not safe to visit just like any other country on earth so my beloved Vloggers don't hesitate visiting a country like the Philippines just so it is being stereotyped as a dangerous place. Can't wait for your next vlog.Keep safe and God bless your families..

Everyone greets you and people aren't afraid to help each other regardless if they're strangers or not. I wish I could say the same for Korea. I visited Korea and as much as I liked the country, I didn't have good experience with the people. It was safe there too but I unfortunately experienced a lot of discrimination there. Manila is so much Safer than New York, Chicago, LA or San Francisco and even Toronto. It‘s saddening nowadays that people are not keen on reviewing their history books. We Filipinos knew that we were colonized thrice - Spain, the US, and Japan. We knew how deep the diplomatic bond between Israel and South Korea was through our shared history - to fight for our sovereignty and protect our democracy. Also, our country is relatively a safe country. There is a balance between urban and rural livelihood and culture. Filipinos know how to be grateful and be contented. One thing is for sure, we need to stop having negative thoughts towards other races.

Manila is a big city and I think there are only two districts that are "shady".
with fast-paced living, Manila is definitely fast-paced compared to Cebu City which is more laid-back and people tend to move slower. I remember when I was assigned to work in Cebu, I got a culture shock when I rode the jeepney (the public mass transport). Koreans are traditionally a homogenous society, like the Japanese. Filipinos were open to having relationships and building families with non-Filipinos as far back as the late 1800’s. In my opinion, I believe Korea is just getting started as far as being Westernized.

Even the US State Department issued warning about kidnapping and other crimes that such precautionary measures were issued more than a decade ago. Our government forgot to delete or update their warnings. The last thing that worries me were events that happened before the Marawi siege in Mindanao. If you watch foreign vloggers going to the crime-ridden slum areas just to prove that the notoriety of a place is no longer a threat especially to foreigners. I live in Stockton California which was the #8 in the country's most crime-ridden city for more than a decade in peace.

Many of the Koreans who were interviewed appear to have limited knowledge about what is happening in the Philippines. Their information comes mainly from outside sources such as the media and hearsay. It may be better to visit the Philippines personally and form your own opinion rather than relying solely on the opinions of others. The interviewers should have also considered interviewing Koreans who have actually visited the Philippines as their experiences may differ from those who have not. Most of the interviewees seem to be unaware of the history between the Philippines and Korea, where the Philippines played a crucial role in helping South Korea expel North Koreans and Chinese forces during the 1950s. It is unfortunate that many young Koreans and Filipinos today are not fully aware of the evolution of their society and the history of their place. The importance of culture and ancestors is often overlooked, leading to a self-centered mindset among the younger generation. As a responsible individual, it is essential to study and understand one's roots and origins. Anyways, most places in Korea are expensive, similar to Japan.

It's unfortunate that many Koreans know very little about the Philippines. They may be right about the other things they say about pickpocketing but maybe in the last few decades it was happening badly. Koreans who are closed-minded are locked in their archaic ideas. They do not know the size of the population of Koreans in the Philippines who study English and the other families who live here. They should try to go to major cities in the Philippines like Makati and BGC and see if they can experience pickpocketing. The Philippines is safer compared to major cities in western countries.Try walking with your cell phone in public in Brazil or the Dominican Republic, and it will be out of your hand in seconds. Go to Boracay Island in the Philippines, you will see Koreans there and you will mistake them as the owner of the island because of the number of them there. They are also the tourist guide for their fellow Koreans. Korea's economy is booming and the Philippines is one of their inspirations. During the 50's, the Philippines was the second richest country in Asia after Japan. I will believe if the Koreans say that there are many corrupt politicians in the Philippines and I will not disagree if that is what they say. However, when it comes to being polite and helpful, Filipinos rank first. I'm not saying this because I'm Filipino, but because it's the truth, and it's part of Filipino culture to offer everything to others, particularly those in need. How has the Philippines not been safe for international travelers? Many foreign vloggers base themselves in the Philippines because they know Filipinos are more welcoming than other ethnicities, particularly in Asia.

I feel bad and its so sad to hear there comments about Filipinos on this reaction.Yes,we have freewill to state our opinion on things but don't make too much assumption/speculation without basis ,instead research first before speaking and giving broad opinion or better visit the place first.
So, Im living in Manila and studied college on one of the school in U-belt area. Working in Makati now as an Engineer. U-belt area is the area here in Manila where many colleges schools are located and very close to each other.
Manila is very safe to go and other nearby cities , specially now adays so I disagree to there opinions. Koreans are just racist and descrimanation does exist (some but not all). They looking down on us because many Filipinos doing menial job and because of repeated economic failure in the Asian region in recent history. In there mind misfortune only makes sense if people are inherently Idle. But Filipino people are not Idle tho we have an Idle government if that fits the shoe. Descrimination is very economy oriented. It is your nationality that matters. If you are from 3rd world country you are poor, if you are from first world country you are rich. Doesnt matter if your a Filipino billionare or homeless American. Nationality functions as the sole indicator of your status.
I don't know that Philippines is sex tourism. What a narrow minded. I disagree with that. Yes there are so many bars in certain places here but Prostitution is illegal in the Philippines. But I agree there are still bars that are descent and indecent. Its up to a foreigner if what place they choose to go. With regards to red light district, doesnt Korea has also red light district. Other countries offer way more, so before giving opinion try to research first and try to be open minded.
There are so many Koreans learning to learn English here where in fact we Don't have ethereal American accent (some not all) . Living here places in Manila, Davao, Cebu,Clark specially Baguio due to its Reputation as the education capital and cool climate due to high elevation. One of the most safest city where are crimes are almost non existence only crimes with trash and littering.
For Dan, how old is the video that you've watch, stating those salary coz for me those are not real if those video had been film currently.Yes, were working hard but its Not true that Filipinos can't travel or don't have money for travel (some not all). If you reaserch also more you would know that Filipinos love to travel. You may research first also or ask second opinion on things so you can give more accurate and better insights on your channel.
My comments is quit long, been watching some of your reaction on some video but my first time commenting as there's seems not right.
Nonetheless, Goodluck to your channel and peace.!

It's just sad that (some) Koreans think the Philippines is just a country for vacation, honeymoons, climate change, unsafe streets, etc. they forget or maybe it was not (?) introduced to them that because of the Philippines they wouldn't be able to get back on their feet during the Korean War. I just want them to be thankful, acknowledge, and aware that the Philippines is one of the first to help them even though at that time we are still recovering from WW2. And also I hope people from all over the world stop discriminating filipino foreign workers, because without us countries would be suffering from labor shortages. And yes we need more money that's why many filipinos prefer to work abroad and its because we need to provide for our family. The government in the Philippines is very corrupt, promises of government that they would provide for their people is 🤬, taxes and inflatiom is so much, and that's why we don't have any choice but to be a laborer for other countries and so I just pray that we can be treated fairly.
