- Richard Blade stopped by the Kevin & Bean Show to talk about his new book, 'World in My Eyes.' It turned into a journey about the legacy of KROQ plus some of Richard Blade's craziest stories.
Hi I used to live in So Cal and after High School I moved to Belfast No Ireland and I called Richard Blade in 1989 and asked him to tape his show for me and send it, he did. Richard made the 80s and So Cal what it is. He is an Icon! Thank You Richard Blade for making the 80s such a blast.

Richard Blade is one of the sweetest people alive on this planet. He really is as nice in person as he seems in this interview.
kroq was the best radio station ever....we hardly ever changed the channel. KrOQ raised me in my youth. We we're parting hard and always listening to KROQ !! The music was unbelievable. it reached us in ways nothing ever had/ The DJ's where unbelievable too. i loved going to the Palace where Richard Blade would dj! It was the first time i really went dancing and i was addicted.. can't wait to read the th book!. blessings and thank for great years and the horrible times too..music saved my life!...i still listen to same music i was raised on..

I literally JUST finished this book and had to come here to continue the fun! @richardblade - I subscribe to Sirius to hear you and have it on in the background RIGHT NOW. I was only in LA from 91-93 trying to be famous myself and KROQ and the YOU were my fav then and just dig the whole story I just read. Your accomplishments were many things that I tried but missed: famous, movie, TV (only an extra on "Days"), in the music biz (worked at Network 40 and turned down an WB for being to educated) and now just finished 25 years in..... EDUCATION! Peace my friend. One day I would love to shake your hand. Until then--- digital ♥!
Richard blade is amazing, the energy he projects still to this day unbelievable. Runs circles around Keven and bean . They should have given him a whole hour.

Recently listened to Richard Blade's interview on the podcast "A Cup of Tea and A Chat" with Allie and Bean. I needed to come back and revisit this interview on Kevin & Bean.
Looking forward to reading this book even though back in the day I was 3,000 miles away from KROQ. As with you Southern Californians, we were also fortunate to have a great groundbreaking New Wave station with WLIR. Even then I knew about KROQ but with the internet, I get to hear the airchecks. Most Americans had no choice but to listen to stations that would endlessly play the likes of Journey, we were so lucky.
He seriously has one of the nicest voices ever. Buttery smooth and so charismatic.
Legend. I'm re-reading his book 2nd time. After he established himself as a DJ in europe(spain, norway, switzerland, germany, denmark, iceland) he came to California and did DJ for clubs(Red Onion, private parties). First, radio break KNAC dj contest winner(presented by J.J. Jackson) > KMGN(magic 98) Bakersfield > KZOZ(Z93) San Luis Obispo > KNAC(105.5fm) > KROQ. Richard Shepherd started in Torquay England went to Oxford to become a teacher and then was always the right place/right time/right guy.
I started listening to KROQ in 1983 after getting out of the Army great station and Richard Blade was great is great

Got to meet richard at various clubs in both l a and orange counties, always a classy gent and pleasant to speak with, thank you Mr. blade for being a paramount fixture in the so.cal. during the 80' s and beyond, god bless much success.
Hey Richard, was great to have Thanksgiving with you and Karen at her mom's, Bee Scott, house all those years ago. I was just a kid at the time and had no idea who you were, but, I grew up listening to you on KROQ and watching you and Karen on MV3/Video 1. Thanks for all the great music and memories.
I thought K&B did a great job with Richard. They are humble and gave him so much credit that he deserves. This was an awesome interview. Richard Blade is why I moved to So. Cal. back in '87. I just got the book and I can't wait to read it. Nice work!

I was a fresh young KROQ intern, specifically one of Richard's, when that Depeche Mode riot went down. I remember being stuck inside the store for what felt like an eternity, watching the plexiglass windows bend against the stress of the crowd. I wondered if that's how I would die, being stomped beneath tens of thousands of monkey boots and creepers. Incredibly fun and horrifying all at the same time. Thanks KROQ!

Adriana Gordon I was one of the kids in the crowd! We ended up getting out of all the people and went into that parking garage thing. Looked over the side and watched Depeche Mode leave. Still have some pictures. Oh and got Richard Blades autograph from earlier that day. Good times!!
