    When he said "when there's a ball there our instincts tend to take over and our bad habits show up". Never heard anything more true of my golf swing. I'm in the exact same boat as Patrick. My short game is the game of a guy consistently shooting in the 80's but my driver is so inconsistent I'm lucky to break 100.

    Hi guys! Great video as always. One thing I'm relating this instruction to is my last outing; while in the first tee box I was trying to implement a recent read of, "keeping your back to the target as long as possible." My first three holes, I could not miss (hit) the ball! My confidence soared - then the miss and it all feel apart until about the twelfth hole where I, kinda got it back together. The thing that I was SO ABLE TO FEEL early in that round was, what I think Coach Ed is stressing in this lesson - keeping the shoulders closed and in sequence/keeping the club in front of your body. I can't wait to get back on the range and study this more. Thank you for another great lesson!

    Thanks for sharing the arm drill. Though towels and rods, swing aids may be helpful off course, I am a big fan of simple drills that I can use on the course to get my mind back on track with what I want to do. Using something I have with me, a part of my body. Keeps things simple, within golf rules and without holding up play on the course.

    I've watched a thousand videos on how to fix my slice.
    These few simple drills make sense. I don't want to know why I slice but practical ideas that show me how to swing.
    Great simple video, thank you so much.

    • @FlankerJackChannel
      @FlankerJackChannel Před měsícem +1

      @@yellowfin524 two things I'm doing is to work on my grip where my trail hand is more over the club where the pinch between my thumb and index is in line with the face of the club. Secondly, working on my wrist hinge where I'm working my lead hand around my trail hand on my back swing and then coming down moving my trail hand over my lead hand. It definitely creates a more inside-out club swing and my trail arm remains very solid.

    I’ve tried this today at the course. I’ve been pull hooking or pushing/fading. The one arm under straight arm drill…. I’ve hit the ball further than ever with 2 over 300 yards ( that’s 3 more than my longest ever and 50 more than my average!). I think it’s because I’ve moved the needle from 1.35 to closer towards 1.5 max in quality of strike. This is now my pre shot routine!! Don’t work with irons tho… 👌

    • @TheGolfSensei

    Thank you again for another great video. I'm in the same position as this gentleman with my drive. I use your towel method at the range for good results. Going to start using it on my driver.

    • @aluminumfalcon552
      @aluminumfalcon552 Před měsícem +1

      I wasn’t using the towel, but today I started adding lag to my swing at the range and I was absolutely striping them. I hit a couple over 200 yards with my 5 Iron and 180 with my 7. I actually slowed my takeaway and initial power, but gained distance because my speed at the bottom went up a lot. I had one non-range ball in my bucket that I absolutely HAMMERED with my driver. It went close to the back of the range (340 is the back at my range). Unfortunately as i went back through my irons, I was super slicing my driver after, it took about 10 balls to clean it up again.

    • @FlankerJackChannel
      @FlankerJackChannel Před měsícem

      @@aluminumfalcon552 something these drills are helping me discover is that I've been releasing the club too far past the ball. If I can slow my hands down when I pass my knee release the club what feels like it's behind the bowl I'm gaining distance and getting better compression. Started to think my slice is coming from my initial hand position during the takeaway and when I hinge my wrist.

    Just thought I’d share using my hips in the correct manner as the steering wheel that turns my body around each corner during my swing.
