Such three-part musical structures are one of the highest level creations of the human mind. Perfect harmony, perfect sequential melodies merging into one another. I am so happy that about 50 years ago I had the great privilege to have an excellent organ teacher and great pipe organs at my disposal. I will not talk about my present condition.....
Thank you for playing your favorite series. The joy of having a child is conveyed from the song, and I feel like the organ is singing. I think childcare is difficult, but please cooperate with your husband and wife. I pray that Hugo will grow up healthy. I've listened to Trio Sonatas a lot, but your performance was the best. Thank you for playing.
There is so much joyous, robust strength in this sonata, especially the first movement. It makes me immobile while listening. I am forced to admit that humanity has occasionally reached artistic and spiritual heights, that would be appreciated even in a more advanced, future generation, which is hopefully also advanced morally and spiritually. By and large, we have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to arts and music.
This is by far my favorite Bach Trio Sonata. I keep coming back to it. The transparent interweaving melodies are run across awesomely. Thank you Richard👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Warmest congratulations to the new parents on the safe arrival of Hugo. Can't wait to see him! Take a well-deserved break from the channel and enjoy those precious first days.
This was excellent. The registrations so clear and Beautiful. Thank you for putting them on screen. That is a great idea and help in understanding the music. Huge congratulations to you both and your families on the birth of Hugo. 🌻
Tom from the United States. Middle of the country. Congratulations on the precious gift from God. Now, with the musical genetics, your job will be to cultivate and nurture them as he grows.
I've heard many, yes many many recordings of the trio sonatas, and especially Trio Sonata No. 2. You've managed to come into my top 3, Richard. A pity that Ton Koopman just fell out of the top 3, thanks to you ;). But you're in good company with Christopher Herrick and Bram Beekman. All personal of course. Main characteristics of your rendition: transparency, vivid playing, attention for the beautiful melodic lines, also in the fast passages. THANKS! (and enjoy all the sleep you can get)
I want to add to that, if you ever look for another sample set. A Thuringian organ like Stertzing, Erfurt (Grabowski) or Trost, Waltershausen (OAM) might be very interesting to play Bach (and contemporaries) at.
It's a good job you were able to give this Bach masterpiece all your attention before the arrival of baby Hugo as interrupted nights can take their toll on learning new repertoire for the organ! I'm with Ralph: this really is a fabulous performance, Richard. Just sublime. Only Bach can make a minor key seem so joyful. The perfection of the music must perfectly reflect how complete and perfect your life will be feeling right now with Caroline and your new born baby son. Congratulations!
A truly fitting celebration of the safe return home of mummy and baby Hugo! Congratulations on a stunning performance - I shall be returning to this and studying closely 🤔😊BRAVO!!
Brilliant stuff! I have these on CD, played at St. Catherine's College Cambridge by Peter le Huray (who lived across the road from us). This 2nd Trio Sonata is my favourite, and has a kind of logic and orderly symmetry to it, for which reason I chose to play it to my brother when he was in a coma following an accident - he remembered this and said it helped.
Congratulations to you and Caroline with your new family addition. As always wonderful job playing. I’m thinking you’re the next version of Peter Hurford.
@@flybdavis25404 he was quite engaging and funny, although he could be sometimes intimidating. I had him as a juror for my final performance test. At one point while I was playing a particularly dissonant piece by Anton Heiler, you know one of those where it can be difficult to tell the right notes, he stopped me mid-phrase, jumped up and grabbed the score. After a quick look he said “okay carry on”! And yes I was playing the right notes lol.
Congratulations Richard & Caroline, on the birth of Son Hugo. I wonder who he takes after & will he be musical, lots of interesting things to know given time. Best Wishes. John ( smoothsilk )
Just did a second listening without reading the chat. I liked even better the second time. It is very clean. With my headphones on, even got a little of that tracker clatter that is so cool on historical instruments! Thanks so much Richard for learning and performing!
Hugo is laying in the manger, happily absorbing all of this wonderful beauty in sound. Nala and Bobbie are waiting for treats. Caroline and Richard are resting peacefully with baby Hugo. Harrison and Harrison are still wondering about the new console cabinetry: Oak or mahogany? Happy Palm Sunday Everyone!
Please do your best live. I can't live because it's in bed, but it's one of my favorite songs, so I'll support you. (By the way, my favorite trio sonata is BWV527.)
No criticism whatsoever of your technique Richard, brilliant as always, but is there a slight delay in the Pedal division? I feel it's unlikely to be the principal or octave so could it be a technical matter, or perhaps I'm just imagining it. Either way, a great performance and can't wait to hear the rest of them. 👍

Now you are a perfect Trio, like this beautiful composition 👍: Richard, Caroline and finally Hugo! Many congratulations from Italy!!!

I recall studying the trio sonatas in master class with Peter Hurford
@@qwincyq6412 How was Peter Hurford in person??

Love the socks! :))) Beautiful piece very well played!
Many thanks. I think I’m most pleased with my recording of this one out of all 6 last year 😊
@@beautyinsound hope to see you in Portugal :)

Can't wait to hear Hugo play a Hauptwerk instrument on your new console. Congratulations Caroline and Richard.
Incredibly amazing richard
Lovely playing Richard, many congratulations to you and Caroline! A BIS baby!
Congrats on the baboo!!.🥰😇🙏😇

The 16’ does speak ever so slightly slow, so well spotted! 😊
If you can play this sonata, then you can play any organ music, technically speaking.
